Off topic ... sort of "shout out" to frequent Education posters ...

MN164 · 09/03/2015 13:40

Being slightly too regular a reader and poster here, I wondered who else here is, like me, spends perhaps a bit too much time here.

I decided to use an online search of www.mumsnet.com/Talk/education to see which were the most common words used throughout the forum. I scanned down the list until user names started appearing.

www.online-utility.org/text/frequent_words.jsp

Here's the result (probably fraught with errors):

clondonmumsy
gracegrapecherry
katew70
fidelmabaldwin
freelancersself
thewordfactory Smile
cazzyg
tarquinmoria
camptownraces
gopherssitonsofas
whywhywhy101

Pepperpot69 · 10/03/2015 15:41

I can't believe you missed the most prolific and most helpful poster on here - happygardening! She is here nearly every day and has helped so many people inc me!
She deserves MN Gold Award!

morethanpotatoprints · 10/03/2015 15:46

I'm on quite a bit on boarding, private and H.ed plus the occasional random post. Oh, aldo FE as well but not so much now.

morethanpotatoprints · 10/03/2015 15:47

Ditto

HG has helped countless parents, including me.
Thank you Happy. Thanks

MN164 · 10/03/2015 16:15

Now that is a good idea. Thanks to posters that actually "helped" people.

Here's to HappyGardening and .......

Well, I would probably go to an education meet-up, just out of a terrible morbid curiosity!

Of course, everyone would have to bring DC along: what would be the point, if we couldn't secretly validate our arguments by judging them all? Grin.

(That's a joke btw).

TalkinPeace · 10/03/2015 17:03

TOSN
All of our kids would huddle in the corner having huge fits of giggles about how precious we all are - on snapchat so we could not tell Grin

MN164 · 10/03/2015 17:11

Oh I don't think we could allow each other's children to meet. After all they are all too special .....

Just had a chance to see this Smile
Re HappyG I note that despite her helpfulness in a lot of threads, one poster in the Eton & Winchester thread made a rather bizarre threat against her (after what Pepperpot termed 'scragging' between them) but that post has now thankfully been deleted by the moderators.

ZeroFunDame · 10/03/2015 17:24

D'you know I think I'm in danger of hiding this thread. It's making me horribly self-conscious whenever my fingers hover over the keypad. And the searchy thing was wrong anyway.

TalkinPeace · 10/03/2015 17:29

zerofun
My posting history with this name sprawls across 9 years and multiple sites on the interweb.
It ceased to worry me a long time ago

morethanpotatoprints · 10/03/2015 17:46

Feenie was really helpful to lots on education. Is she still about?

Also, what happened to colleger, I ask on lots of the where are they threads, but nobody usually answers. She was good on the many Eton threads for a while a few years ago.

TalkinPeace · 10/03/2015 21:03

various people I've messaged with in the past have had to change their names
in some cases the posting style reveals them Hi Xenia
but others stay hidden

in one case I know the name change was after a nasty thread on the Dogs board !!

Spatial · 11/03/2015 12:33

seeker was the one who's posts I sought out. Did she leave?

I lurk a lot, post occasionally and name change.

summerends · 11/03/2015 13:22

Hmm Spatial not sure if it is appropriate for a namechanger to ask about another previous poster, who knows you might be a 'stalker' Wink.

Pepperpot69 · 11/03/2015 13:44

Well said summerends about HG I didn't like the way she was being got at either when she only tries to help people on here and has been a massive help to me. Come back HG its safe now!

Spatial · 11/03/2015 19:57

If I was a stalker I'd just search all her posts like a weirdo and find out that way.

I was just commenting as she is the name I associate with Education, which is what this thread is about. Hmm

Zipitydooda · 11/03/2015 20:31

Not sure how I ended up on the list ................
....... Oh! It must have been that post where I typed my own name a thousand times!

morethanpotatoprints · 11/03/2015 20:49

Spatial

Seeker is still here, under a nc.
I like her posts too, but not sure she likes mine Grin

I don't think theres anything wrong with saying that and she does post in the same way.

Spatial · 11/03/2015 23:02

Thanks morethan - that's good to know. Smile I am interested in her posts as she understands the issues about the county we live in and IME makes well informed comments about it, the like of which I rarely see elsewhere.

happygardening · 12/03/2015 08:26

I'm not on the list which slightly surprises me because I think I post fairly regularly. May be it's a good thing because I'm thinking of bowing out, my children will soon be leaving school so a I won't have anything current to say, and although I'm happy to lock horns with many on here but very occasionally some people comments for a reason I can't explain I simply find too much and I'm beginning to think it's time to get a life.

happygardening · 12/03/2015 08:43

Sorry folks I didn't see page 2! Yes it was the comment on the Eton thread that made me think this is no longer for me. I don't mind people having different views to me but I loathe personal attacks, I appreciate we all very occasionally sink to this and we shouldn't but this particular person has done it on numerous times and I'm tired of it now.
I'm touched by people comments, I generally do only try to help, Through the education board I've actually met some MNetters who've been lovely including a wonderful family from Malaysia. I also regularly communicate with others via email and PM's. This Xmas someone (I still can't work out who) gave me a secret Santa gift for the help and support I'd given them I was frankly stunned and as I had done nothing to deserve it.
The only sad thing is that two of the MNetters I've met were "surprised" that in real life I wasn't very serious. I'm sorry if I come across as a serious it's certainly not my intention as I'm very far from that in fact quite a few friends think I should be perusing a career as some sort of stand up comedian!

summerends · 12/03/2015 09:06

HG Flowers from me. That particularly poster whatever they are like in real life has certainly crossed the line in several instances with you and at least one other poster in the past (and compounded it by completely misguided accusations).
