So my all yr7s should know all these words? Wink

Feistybird · 28/03/2006 21:19

OP posts:
Feistybird · 28/03/2006 21:20

Lockets is that to read or spell (I didn't actually realise there would be a difference - am a complete numbskull re: the KS system

OP posts:
popsycalindisguise · 28/03/2006 21:22

sorry

here is the link to the \link{http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/primary/publications/literacy/63313/nls_spellingbank008601.pdf\spelling bank} anyway.....

don't think there is a definitive reading list though - not that I am aware of

popsycalindisguise · 28/03/2006 21:23

Feistybird · 28/03/2006 21:23

Once they are in yr3 - certainly "average" readers with a reading age of 7 or so - they would be expected to sound out most basic words. Certainly anything which is fairly regularly and of only 2 or 3 syllables. Isn't that correct Popsy?

ah ok, that'll be why I can't find anything on the Internet about it..

OP posts:
popsycalindisguise · 28/03/2006 21:26

Pretty much. I have taught years 5 and 6 for almost 9 years now and have never seen a list. The poorer readers would normally use word lists that 'average' readers (sorry hate that word!) in younger year groups would use (disguised in an 'older' way of course)

Is there anything specific you want to know feistybird as some of us may be able to help

popsycalindisguise · 28/03/2006 21:27

flibberty gibbet - wasnt having a go at you with the word average...was saying sorry for my use of it not having a go.
argh
