Something EVERY parent of a child in a UK State school should know about

The UK Government has new proposals to allow non qualified teachers to teach in UK schools. This means our children?s education may be placed in the hands of teachers without basic qualifications such as English and Maths GSCE let alone a Bachelors degree. This policy will mainly be affecting children from the lower economic backgrounds and the reasoning behind employing unqualified teachers is simply because it costs less.

I have attached an epetition which gives more information and is asking for signatures to oppose the use of unqualified teachers in UK State schools. If the numbers signing this petition is large enough, we can get the debate discussed in the UK Parliament. Please help and protect the education of all UK children in State schools.

Thanks

"Who do you think bought an apprentice his tools or the garage mechanic all the bits he needs to take your brakes apart with out wrecking the machine or those diagnostic kits."

Actually in every firm that I have worked for the company pays an allowance to the employees to buy tools and will have a deal with the "man in the van" that comes round to allow major discounts.

As for the diagnostic tools, they are either paid for buy the firm (wouldn't want a major piece of equipement disappearing when someone leaves) or they are on loan from the dianostic company/brand of car, that way they can lock you out of the system if you don't pay the loan fee or keep up with the training.

Hi Everybody,

I am a foreigner living in the UK and have the same bad experience about state schools using half qualified staff. I am interested in signing any petition or in continuing this discussion under any new Talk thread. Please, let me know what to do next.

Teachers with Ba, Ma had better GCSE results, studied 3-5 more years, taught before experts, written essays and lesson plans...

Dear Anita, if you google David Clarke and epetition you will find it. Also go to the TES website where we are all going on and on about the problems we are facing, i.e. thousands less qualified teachers in schools, thousands more HLTAs, TAs, CSs and LSAs and 20% cuts to the SEN budget AND funding from LEAs being reduced. Pretty dire times.

Best wishes QT
