GO TO BED and relax. Switch off from the kids and flick through a mag or something. Just think it might actually stop raining soon!

singersgirl · 25/10/2005 22:27

I know - tomorrow is our 'unplanned day'. Why do I have one? It always seems like a good idea. Have just been looking through the 'Days Out' section in search of inspiration. We're in London so there's loads to do, but I find things like museums pretty stressful with the DSs (4 and 7) as I can only ever find one of them at any one time. Have just run a bubble bath, but no wine in the house....big mistake...

wallopyCOD · 25/10/2005 22:28

i love it but the desse have ben with mil since sunday

Weather been terrible here the last two days.

DD also got sore tummy & diarrhoea!!!

So we're not going anywhere atm!!!!

Can I come too?

ladymuck · 25/10/2005 22:35

School is running a 2 day holiday club - yippee! Ds1 is totlaly confused though - I've been tellign him that he doesn't go to school during half-term - but he's going tomorrow. And to make things worse he has to take a packed lunch - there's no school dinner. The look of disgust on his face was a picture!

pfer · 25/10/2005 22:38

Jonesthesteam - I'll pick you up on the way past....

12 more days - how long is your half term? It's only a week in my neck of the woods. (That's long enough though.)

Try holiday/activity clubs. Worth every penny. Pack 'em off for a few days, makes the rest of the time much more bearable.

JonesTheSteam · 25/10/2005 22:38

Thanks pfer

pfer · 25/10/2005 22:42

wordsmith - 2 whole bl**dy weeks! DS1 is only 3ys 9months so it's playschool he's missing and there aren't any clubs that will take him at that age without me being there as well and DS2 is too young apparently.... Got DS1's mate coming over on Thursday to vandalise what's left of my home......will send him back to there house next week to return the favour.

Bloody hell.

Sympathy. And respect.

I must admit in that situation, at our house the video would be working overtime and the Gin bottle would be drained.

pfer · 25/10/2005 22:46

Wordsmith - I'm sick of Thomas / Little Red Tractor / Nick Jnr etc, I keep trying to fob him off for a little while so I can at least wash up but they just keep on at me...all the time, the dh comes home from work and turns into ds3...

Am I the only one who enjoys the school holidays???
Mine have just had 2 weeks off. Had a great time. Now they're back I have to get all 3 ready by 8, everyone is stressed & grumpy with each other. hat it hate it hate it

alison222 · 26/10/2005 13:31

We only have a week off. I'm enjoying it too.
But I'm usually working so this is time at home with just my children and we are relaxing, doing what we feel like. nothing planned. heaven not to rush to and from school, playgroups for meals so that children can be collected etc etc. (children are 4.9 and 2.5)

JonesTheSteam · 26/10/2005 13:33

I would be enjoying it if the weather was better and DD wasn't ill

freakyzebra · 26/10/2005 13:35

My kids are barely up for 2 outings this week, no way they could do 3. They bum around, colour things in, do computer games, rediscover old toys. Only hard part is the 16m old who doesn't like staying at home, the older 2 kids are a doddle... or would be, if they wanted to go out more.

Wordsmith · 26/10/2005 19:01

I guess it's different if you're an SAHM. If you have to find childcare for school-age kids it's a nightmare.

stitch · 26/10/2005 19:01

i hate it tooooo
but why do you have two weeks off?

pfer · 26/10/2005 19:06

stitch, i'm selfemployed work from home so i can be a sahm. didn't realise how much i needed the playschool until it's closed.......

sory I have always loved half term and all school holidays. I love spending time with my children. Not quite the same now they are older and often do they own thing. Also I am working now so don't spend so much time with them.
I have realy enjoyred this half term because we have ben to New York with the youngest 2 and had a great time.

had a play date on thurs with ds1's best pal. still mending the house they had a great time, went to the park, baked cakes, ate cakes etc, all good fun.
ggglimpop - do the words "cake hole" and "shut your" mean anything? I had my kids through choice, would gladly lay down my life time and time again for them, I've gone without everything to make sure they are happy and looked after. I get 1 hour a week 'off' and that's doing the grocery shopping, so pardon me if I sometimes find it a little overwhelming, that's not a crime, as you can see many of us feel the same way - we're not all as perfect as you obviously.
