GORGEOUSPSYCHIC · 13/01/2011 20:08

Has anybody been banned from the above forum?

OP posts:
JustineMumsnet · 14/01/2011 16:46

Absolutely. And to be childish too Grin. Welcome.

GORGEOUSX · 14/01/2011 16:48

THANK YOU JUSTINEMUMSNET I love it on here - every cloud etc. Smile

BreconBeBuggered · 14/01/2011 16:58

Gorgeous, are you sure they hadn't psychically sussed out your David Cameron fetish, you deviant? :o

Clearly, you're better off here. Leave the bossy prefects to it.

peteneras · 14/01/2011 17:17

GORGEOUSPSYCHIC
Has anybody been banned from the above forum?
. . . thought I was in the minority in my thinking

You are most certainly not in the minority. I know someone was banned from Elevenplus Forum permanently ? by herself/himself! S/he walked out of the forum and deregistered.

GORGEOUSPSYCHIC
I then disagreed with a moderator, because I was mistaken in thinking that it was a democratic forum

BlessingsGalore
The mods are a dictatorship and act like those awful school teachers that have favourites.

The moderators there are a sad lot with double standards. The trouble is they can?t see it themselves; added to the fact they are also control freaks. Someone once called them ?Little Hitlers?. They are so comfortably wrapped up in their little cocoons that they forget the Elevenplus is a forum in the world-wide-web. They treat forum members like their own 10-year-old pupils in class.

They really need to get a life! Sad

mattellie · 14/01/2011 17:36

To be fair, the 11+ Forum is a non-profit making operation and none of the moderators are paid for their work on it, so I have some sympathy with their need to keep the forum focused.

Mumsnet is brilliant (thanks Justine, if you?re still here), but because it?s on a much larger scale they are able to let us be gobby/controversial/rambling/whatever Smile . It?s completely different.

And before anyone jumps down my throat, I don?t have any connection with the 11+ Forum other than that they were very helpful to a family (mine!) who knew Jack Shit about the 11+ until we found our children taking it a few years ago.

seeker · 14/01/2011 17:45

Non - profit making - hmmmmm.

There a lots of things available for sale on that website!

Mrsfluff · 14/01/2011 17:46

I've never been on the 11+ forum, can't believe it has a forum of it's own!?! wanders off to have a nose

GORGEOUSX · 14/01/2011 17:49

BreconbeBuggered Thank you so much - I have felt really welcomed by everyone here, despite, or maybe because of my David Cameron fetish Grin

GORGEOUSX · 14/01/2011 17:50

Seeker Yes, you're right, there's loads for sale and some of it is their own stuff. The 'free' stuff is not worth looking at.

GORGEOUSX · 14/01/2011 17:56

matellie the mods on that forum get their 'fix' from moderating. They love it. They are full of their own self-importance. Their motives are purely selfish. If you took it away from them they would be devastated, because in the real world nobody gives two hoots what they think. The simpering on there is too much to stomach - truly nauseating stuff.

Deaddei · 14/01/2011 17:59

Wait till the week before results are due.
Last year there was one woman doing a personal countdown, stalking the postie in her jimjams and generally being very annoying.

GORGEOUSX · 14/01/2011 18:01

lol! Deaddei

mattellie · 14/01/2011 22:10

seeker I meant non-profit-making in the sense that all monies are ploughed back into the upkeep and maintenance of the website. I may be wrong but the fact that they sell stuff doesn't preclude that possibility; charities sell stuff too. I do know for certain that the moderators are not paid - at least they weren't 3 three years ago when I had cause to use the site. If my information is out of date, I apologise and stand to be corrected.

There are some obsessives there to be sure, but there's lots of useful practical info too. Going on a forum entitled '11+ Forum' and then being surprised it's all about the 11+ is a like going on www.xfactor.itv.com and wondering why all anyone talks about is The X Factor. The clue's kinda in the name Smile

Gorgeous I'm sorry you had a bad experience there but you really don't have any knowledge about the motives of its moderators, do you? And don't you think coming on a forum to complain about another forum is just a little bit, well, sad? If you don't like it, don't visit; it doesn't appear as if you really wanted to know anything about the 11+ exam.

animula · 14/01/2011 22:13

You lot are mean (except mattellie, and maybe claig). I rather like 11+exams, and it gets unfair amounts of teasing. Mattellie's right, it is only small, and it isn't for-profit.

GORGEOUSX · 15/01/2011 09:59

mattelie Please do not make assumptions !about whether or not I needed to go there. As for telling me off for coming on here and airing my views - well, I won't tell you what you can do.... but the word Jacksy comes to mind.

That site is for gaining info about 11+ - yes mattelie, guess what, I realise that; but the site owners do not have to include a forum to give info. If you have a forum and you are not going to allow free debate and you are going to treat members like 10 year olds - then you should make it clear that it's not really a forum.

I was never 'welcomed' onto the site because I didn't kick off by simpering to the mods. My first post on there was actually to answer a question for someone so I was actually doing a good deed. It became obvious from Day 1 that you cannot express a view that differs from the Mods, who seem to have somehow coagulated their views. Indeed, when I entered into a VERY tame debate with one particular member, a Mod actually stepped in and said "don't worry, X, Gorgeous is simply miffed because.....
" and shortly after removed the thread because of 'flaming' (not my post I might add).

They tell you not to flame, but the fact is that you have a viewpoint which differs from theirs, it's plain that you will be discussed amongst them in private and banned at the first opportunity. This was clearly the case when they gave me a warning for "including shouty capitals in the title thread" .

When I came on here I saw immediately that this is a grown-up site where they don't hold petty grudges and have such anal views. AND I WAS WELCOMED ONTO THE SITE. I must say, I don't really know why YOU have bothered to come on here, just to post your nasty comments to me, when you don't know me. You certainly couldn't have got away with that on 11+ !

BlessingsGalore · 15/01/2011 12:02

GORGEOUSX, there are a number of posters who feel that the mods are very unfair on a few posters. The mods seem to come down hard on them for doing nothing wrong but let others, including themselves say exactly what they want. I also think that the mods are too opinionated and if you are going to be a mod then you should be impartial. There have been threads with mods commenting on how a certain class of people talk but if a few of the nutters said it then they would be banned immediately.

GORGEOUSX · 15/01/2011 17:13

Blessingsgalore THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SAYING THAT. I agree with you, and I think it's actually a form of bullying - and, yes, a lot of holier-than-thou and people looking down their noses. I never made a personal attack on anyone and it does upset me that someone would come on here and attack me personally, like the previous poster. I have never named anyone - always generalised and yet her asking me "don't you think you're rather sad...." is typical of the superiority-complex suffered by SOME of the people on that forum.

catinthehat2 · 15/01/2011 17:25

Just a polite enquiry, but as this has been going on since Thursday, isn't it maybe time to get over the 11+ forum now? It's been days you know.
Or are you here simply for the post traumatic stress counselling?

GORGEOUSX · 15/01/2011 17:30

Actually I came on here hoping to find some like-minded people to have a bit of banter with sometimes, but don't worry you're not one of them.

catinthehat2 · 15/01/2011 17:49
slowerlearner · 16/01/2011 00:18

Gosh you don't like people disagreeing with you do you. Your threads are still there in the Rehab bit of the site, but you would need to be registered to see them.

GORGEOUSX · 16/01/2011 09:01

slowlearner You don't need to be registered to see them and they have been removed, so I don't know what you're referring to - The forum Names thread was removed as was the Who Does It For You thread.

I don't mind people disagreeing with me - BRING IT ON - what I don't like is personal attacks on people.

P.S. I've been back on because I've got cyber pals on there and wanted to make sure they were OK - one of them had a problem and I felt for her; but it's extremely quiet on there. They're still discussing 'rooves versus roofs' Grin

GORGEOUSX · 16/01/2011 09:07

By the way slowlearner if you want to read Who Does It For You thread, you can see another version on here under the AIBU threads, though I fear if you're used to 'debating' on 11+ you may need some smelling salts to hand. Grin

GORGEOUSX · 16/01/2011 09:16

P.S.S. - They no longer have a 'Rehab' section - not that they should have one - it is after all an 11+ site; so if you feel the need for some 'Rehab' do come on here and join the grown-ups.

StuffingGoldBrass · 16/01/2011 09:25

Justine: you could introduce such a policy if you wanted to. Then we would all fuck off to moldies Bounty or something.
