cod, you asked about whether the 7 day stretch is the right length of time. If your item is unusual and it is a particular buyer that would want it, then the longer the better. It makes no difference to your eBay fees whether you list for 1 day or list for the maximum of 10.

Personally, if I am in no hurry, I list for the full 10 days. On a Thurs, so that it ends Sun night. That way the listing straddles 2 weekends, for maximum exposure.

The only disadvantage of 10 days is that someone who sees it on day 1 will probably have bid on some other item (which ends earlier) by the time day 10 rolls by. This is particularly so if you are selling something that has a lot of competing listings eg used clothing. So in your case, it would be fine to list for 7 days. Some people do shorter.

Also, better to list all your items around the same time (rather than say, split it over a few weeks), and cross-refer to your other listings in each listing eg "Have a look at my other listings in the same size - Boden matching skirt, Monsoon, Prada ..."

Indeed but leave 5 mins between each so they can easily bid on each one they are interested in without getting their knickers in a twist because they only hav 3 seconds to find the next item.

Oh yes, Blueshoes is right - best to get it all on at once - esp if you are a newbie. SHows that your stuff is genuine apparently!
Also means you should only have one trek to the Post office if all your items end around the same time when you come to post it all (and only offered recorded post so you've got proof)
And you may get people bidding on more than one item - easier to put two things in one parcel.

are there particular days/times when it's best to end your auction?

does how many days make much difference?

0SlightlyMadShrek · 21/01/2008 21:37

Yes as discussed above it is generally best to end between 8pm & 10pm on a sunday, but think about your target audience and when they are likely to be home in front of PC.

Days makes a difference for most things. I usually go for 7 days as it is convenient for me, although as someone else said going for 10, starting on Friday (check my maths there) to end on a SUnday will give you a listing which is on the system for 2 weekeneds.

If, however, ebay is flooded with identical items, for example the latest mobile phone you may as well just go for 3 days. If there are 26 pages of listings for that model no-one will bother to look beyond page 4-5 of the listings so your page doesn't even get any hits until the last couple of days anyway.
