I'm new to selling on eBay, have only bought the odd item.
I sold 3 items to the same person.
At her request I combined the items and charged her one postage, I was happy to do this.
Sent them insured but not signed for.
Sent them 11 days ago, day after auction ended.
I've received no feedback from her.
Should i message to check she's revived them or assume she's received item and not message her?

Any help appreciated.

Hi
Some people don't leave feedback or will do it all in one go every so often. Can you track your items to see if they've been delivered? If I hadn't received an item after 11 days I would have contacted the seller for advice, so hopefully no news is good news!

I always send items by signed for post - DD sold a designer skirt on ebay a while ago for about £30, sent it normal 1st class post. The buyer claimed she never received it so DD had to refund her.

Elieza · 04/09/2021 10:00

Always use signed for delivery or at least obtain proof of postage from the post office. You need proof you sent something or eBay could side with the seller saying they didn’t receive the item.

How did you send insured but not signed for? I thought that insured would have meant a service with tracking on it so you can check online where the goods are?
You might want to check that out.

She would have contacted you by now had she not received it. So I’d presume it’s ok. If I don’t get something within the deadline eBay ‘suggests’ I’m emailing the seller to ask what the position is.

I don’t often leave feedback immediately. I usually leave it once a month or something when I can be bothered. Or not at all. There is no requirement to do so. It’s a courtesy thing.

When I was selling I sold about 30 things over a year. I never received enough feedback as a seller to get a seller rating thingy. Pissed me off at the time so I always leave feedback now for small sellers. Bigger ones not so urgent! I do try and get round to all though!

rosesarered321 · 04/09/2021 10:03

Thanks for the advice.

No stupidly not sent recorded but I did send insured so I shouldn't be out of pocket of there is a problem. Hopefully no news is good news. Do you think I should message to check it's arrived? My gut feeling is to leave well alone!

Stick to your gut and leave it be

A lot of people just don’t leave feedback
A small number will take the opportunity of you not having tracking to suddenly decide it wasn’t delivered and claim back against you - you are then out of pocket until Royal Mail complete an enquiry

LawnFever · 04/09/2021 10:28

I often don’t get around to leaving feedback, I’d assume if they hadn’t arrived she’d have been in touch so I’d just leave it.

Shirleyphallus · 04/09/2021 10:31

I don’t leave feedback and absolutely hate being messaged asking to leave it

LizzieMacQueen · 04/09/2021 10:36

I think I read on the eBay community board that they changed the way feedback was collected. Some folk were commenting that they could no longer leave feedback.

Regarding the proof of delivery v proof of postage; ebay will side with buyer unless you have POD but Royal mail will accept a claim (lost item +13 working days after POP) as long as you have that proof of postage. Up to the max insurance which I think 2nd class is £20, 1st class is £50.

rosesarered321 · 04/09/2021 10:48

Thanks for the advice I'll leave well alone!

@LizzieMacQueen that's what I've got, proof of delivery!

OP posts:
TheStatusQuo · 04/09/2021 10:50

I don’t leave feedback either OP.

rosesarered321 · 04/09/2021 10:54

Thanks all I wasn't bothered about feedback but just that she's got them all. Although to be honest I'd have given feedback when I'd someone had saved me 6.40 in postage by combining parcels.

How can you get insurance without proof of posting?

That makes mo sense.

In the event you try and claim said insurance, the first question they will need answered is to prove it’s been posted?

Surely?

I don’t get it.

caughtinanet · 04/09/2021 10:56

I don't think anyone left me feedback on eBay since about 2012, it still a thing?

Elieza · 04/09/2021 10:56

No sense

SquirryTheSquirrel · 04/09/2021 11:14

I'd have expected her to contact you by now if the items hadn't turned up.

I always leave feedback on purchases but I know not everyone does.

SirChenjins · 04/09/2021 11:19

I rarely leave feedback - it completely slips my mind. I’d be very quick to contact the seller if the items didn’t arrive though, so perhaps she’s the same? Just leave it and let her contact you if there’s an issue.

I always send recorded delivery after a very unpleasant incident with a buyer - it’s worth it for the peace of mind as eBay will always side with the buyer.

purplesequins · 04/09/2021 11:23

I very rarely leave feedback.
the seller would have to be absulutely shite or superb for me to do it.
if I get 'reminders' to leave feedback I don't on principle.

CovidPassQuestion · 04/09/2021 11:24

Leaving feedback is a hassle, and I rarely bother unless it's been really quick delivery or something. I do tend to leave feedback for new sellers as I know it's important for them, and I know what it's like to have no feedback yet!

LindaEllen · 04/09/2021 11:39

A lot of people just don't leave feedback. You'd have heard about it if the item hadn't turned up, though.

rosesarered321 · 04/09/2021 11:52

OK thank you all, I get the message about feedback, but this has been helpful.

And sorry it was proof of postage I've got that comes with £20 insurance.

I take weeks/months to leave feedback depending on what I’ve bought. Clothes for instance I don’t leave feedback for until I’ve worn and washed them, then worn them again after. Appliances I review after 3 months, I never bother leaving reviews for ornaments/soft furnishings etc because aside from “I like it” there’s nothing else to say (unless excessively bad quality, in which case I do leave a review).

MeredithGreyishblue · 04/09/2021 12:02

I don't leave feedback any more. I used to in the says when every sale was someone clearing out their garage! But these days it's changed.

drpet49 · 04/09/2021 12:21

* Leaving feedback is a hassle*

^Hmm What? It takes me 30 seconds. I always leave feedback. Lazy people.

CovidPassQuestion · 04/09/2021 15:24

Here, have an ebay medal 🏅

Lazy? Or busy, have other priorities?

19lottie82 · 05/09/2021 00:46

I sell a lot on eBay and I’m lucky to receive feedback 20% of the time so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I always leave feedback for others though.
