Hoping someone can offer some advice.

The "cardigan" I won has turned out to not be a cardigan, but a jumper with buttons down the front.

I am really disappointed as it's a lovely colour/design and I wanted to wear it as a cardigan.

So, would I be able to ask for a refund for that reason? If so, would that include postage? She charged me £2.50 P&P and it actually only came to 60p.

Much thanks in advance.

Depends how she described it. Did the listing say "cardigan" or did you assume from the picture?

Wuxiapian · 16/07/2007 16:15

Yes, cardigan is used in the title. In the picture it's buttoned up - as it would be because it's a jumper.

Tut. What a nuisance.

so you an't open it? Sounds misleading then and she should give you your money back but doubt you'll get postage.
Will it be worth it as you'll only have to pay to send it back?

Ulysees · 16/07/2007 16:18

And the postage includes packing and also she may need to travel to post office.

Ulysees · 16/07/2007 16:19

meant can't open it

Wuxiapian · 16/07/2007 16:21

It does looks like a cardigan - has button panel with button holes, but is stitched up.

OP posts:
Ulysees · 16/07/2007 16:23

it's up to you hun, if you think it's worth the expense of resending it?

Wuxiapian · 16/07/2007 16:23

Wel, I paid £10.50 for item and P&P was £2.50. So, I don't particularly want to waste my money if I'm not going to be able to wear it.

OP posts:
Wuxiapian · 16/07/2007 16:25

But, as I said, actual P&P was 60p. So, I'm prepared to return it to her. I was just wondering if getting refunds were like trying to get blood out of a stone.

OP posts:
Ulysees · 16/07/2007 16:27

wow £10.50 then I would try for your money back. If she won't pay then just go through paypal, did you pay this way? They sorted out a dispute for me and I got my money back.

Wuxiapian · 16/07/2007 16:31

Ok, so, what's the best way to approach seller?

OP posts:
Ulysees · 16/07/2007 16:34

just email and explain calmly that you want a refund and why then if she refuses say you'll have to take it further as she advertised it in a misleading manner. I think you have to contact seller first before taking action. She did mislead you though and it wasn't cheap. I'm guessing she'll pay up.

JoMa · 16/07/2007 16:37

when you contact her, ask for a refund including full postage. you should be entitled to postage you paid, but not the cost of sending it back to her

Wuxiapian · 16/07/2007 16:40

Right, I'll give it a go.

Thank you so much for the advice!

JoMa · 16/07/2007 16:41

these pages on Ebay will talk you through it

sixlostmonkeys · 16/07/2007 16:43

ask her first.

if she refuses, send it back by trackable means then open a ebay/paypal dispute for item not as described. paypal will refund you cost + P&P but not return postage which should be 60p +70p(rec del)

Wuxiapian · 16/07/2007 16:46

Hi.

I received item this morning and was disappointed to find that it's actually a jumper.

You listed it as a cardigan.

I would like a refund including full postage.

Hopng we can resolve this matter.

OP posts:
Wuxiapian · 16/07/2007 16:47

Would that be ok, do you think?

OP posts:
JoMa · 16/07/2007 16:48

sounds fine to me

Wuxiapian · 17/07/2007 07:32

Ok, so, I sent her the message yesterday evening and not as yet received a reply.

How long do I leave it until I send another message?

Thanks in advance.

fruittea · 17/07/2007 07:47

Give it a day or two, she may need to read up on the policies herself, and not have realised that she's misled you.

helenhismadwife · 17/07/2007 18:35

I would open a paypal dispute if you paid this way they will say send it back by trackable method then refund you if she doesnt reply I would also open an item not as described with ebay

Flibbertyjibbet · 17/07/2007 18:42

I've had a couple of 'not as described' clothing let downs..
My response was usually to start off positive, then tell them what the matter is, tell them you would not have bid if the description had been accurate, then ask nicely what they can do about it, ie

Hi I received XXX item today, thanks for sending it so promptly.
However, the what you listed as a cardigan is in fact a jumper with decorative buttons down the front. If you had described it as a jumper I wouldn't have bid.
Can you please confirm that if I return it, you will send me a full refund including postage. Thanks.

Has worked each time.

Wuxiapian · 18/07/2007 10:00

Ok, I've sent her another message this morning.

I know she must've seen it as she's been leaving feedback for others.

How long do I wait for a reply or should I open a dispute now?

Many thanks for any responses.

if you know she has seen the email I would open a dispute now she has had a chance to respond to you
