Faded Item Described as Mint. What would you do?

I bought an item that was described as mint/store display. Since I really wanted it, I purchased it eventhough I knew I'd incur customs duty (the total was around $400 AUD with the GST, and the various fees - customs entrance, duty, broker fee, etc).

When the item arrived, I immediately noticed the fading in the collar and at the back.

What would you do if you were me? The jacket totalled around $950 US with the shipping (not including the customs fee). If I were to return, I will not get the customs duty back.

I messaged the seller but no reply yet.

If it was a display in a hot country it will be discoloured at the top parts from the sun . In EXACTLY the way that it is . Get eBay to get her to refund you .

So eBay reinstated the feedback last week.

Today I received a message thay the feedback was removed again and I have been given a warning for “feedback extortion”.

What the?!!

I did not mention anything about feedback to the seller!

I called eBay and was transferred to different CSRs. The last CSR I talked to told me that the feedback cannot be reinstated, and we cannot focus on the past because it's not healthy. I almost burst out laughing.:lol::lol:

She told me to use the eBay community to warn people against this seller.

Anyway, I knew we were getting nowhere so I requested to speak with a supervisor, who was not available. I was promised a call back within 24 hours.

Talked to a supervisor. The message that was taken as feedback extortion was:

"Anyway could you please clarify what you mean by “I will reimburse the difference”? As per eBay rules, the seller is responsible for the return postage. Thanks"

The supervisor agreed that the feedback should not have been removed but informed me that the feedback will not be reinstated because there is no process to do so. They promised to "coach" the CSR who removed the feedback.

This has really turned me off eBay. Apparently, sellers can just call and have the negative feedback removed.

@DrowningEveryDay I lost you off my lists and just did a search to find this again and ask for an update! Well....happy you got a refund. As to the rest, I dread to think of the amount of money that seller has made via buyers who didn't have the fight in them to pursue it, silently endorsed via eBay's feedback process. But you did great and although it was a costly stressful situation it could have been so much worse. Hope you can find an alternative leather jacket with uniform dye coverage soon Grin

Exactly. I actually bought it because the seller had a 99.5% rating! Now I know I can't trust the eBay feedback process.

But yeah, it could have been worse. I've decided to let it go and this teaches me to not purchase high value items that will incur customs fee on eBay!
