eBay

I refunded buyer but now they’ve relisted item - advice

I recently sold a BNWT item of clothing. Buyer claimed item was damaged (it’s a light knit and they said it was snagged) and I refunded and said they could keep it (I couldn’t be hassled with a return as it would have cost me additional postage). I was pretty sure it wasn’t damaged but couldn’t prove it and as it’s black I figured I may have overlooked a snag. Buyer has now re-listed item with no mention of any fault/damage either in description or photos - still describes as BNWT. I feel ripped off by this person though I was a willing victim I guess. Can I complain/report this buyer to eBay? Or just put this down to experience?

Buy it back and claim it's snagged and you want a refund.

Can hardly deny it, can they?

Def8nitely report to eBay, and maybe PayPal.

They should pay return postage and you refund when it's arrived. Now you know!

LOVE queenofwands suggestion!

TheQueenOfWands suggestion raised a smile but it would mean being drawn into a game of dishonesty.

The best thing to do is to block that buyer and then forget about this.

Phone eBay customer services.
I had a similar thing last year, someone bought a mans shirt for £20. 29 days later opened a not as described case, stating it was a child’s shirt, not an adult one. I looked at their eBay account and they had listed it for the previous 2 weeks as a mans shirt (and for £35!), told eBay they were saying it was not as described whilst listing it exactly as I described. eBay sided with me.

Report her, if all your communication was via eBay they'll be able to access this. Cheeky cow.

Buy it back, pay with PayPal then claim non receipt. You’ll get a full refund and you’ll have your item back.

Yes it’s bad to do this but in the case of cf’s like your buyer, they need a taste of their own medicine.

Negative feedback too, obviously warning others what she did.

Thanks all. Very tempted to do what The Queen and Lucie suggest but I'm going to report to eBay. Looking at the buyer's feedback they have 3 negatives in the last few weeks so have a feeling this person has a bit of a track record.

You could get in touch with the buyer and point out they have the item listed without any fault, therefore you would like your refund back. Make a note of the item no. beforehand so you can still report it to eBay if they remove the item.

I was thinking that cloud. I think I may have to brace myself for some abuse judging by the manner in which she pointed out the ‘defect’ in the item!!!

Honestly? I would just block the buyer then forget about this one and move on, you won’t get anywhere with this. Even if you do report her to eBay they prob won’t do anything.

I don't think I'd get in touch with the buyer as they might take the item down.
lottie that's a bit defeatist. Worth a try contacting Ebay surely. These people need calling out.

Vita maybe so, but I’ve used ebay for 15 years (5 years as a business seller) and I’m just being realistic.

I'd report the CF. eBay will sort it out just make sure you have copy of listing incase she takes it down. Wouldn't let her get away with theft.

Yes, pretty much. I appreciate it’s frustrating but I honestly wouldn’t waste the energy as ebay won’t do a thing.
Ebay descisions basically come down to proof. You can’t prove it’s the same item, if it is you can’t prove it hasn’t been repaired, ect ect the possibilities are endless.

19lottie82 · 30/10/2017 14:29

cheese ebay won’t “sort it out”
And it’s not theft, the OP let them keep the item.

The best the OP will get is a blanket email saying ebay will look into it, but nothing will be done.
