I refunded buyer but now they’ve relisted item - advice

I recently sold a BNWT item of clothing. Buyer claimed item was damaged (it’s a light knit and they said it was snagged) and I refunded and said they could keep it (I couldn’t be hassled with a return as it would have cost me additional postage). I was pretty sure it wasn’t damaged but couldn’t prove it and as it’s black I figured I may have overlooked a snag. Buyer has now re-listed item with no mention of any fault/damage either in description or photos - still describes as BNWT. I feel ripped off by this person though I was a willing victim I guess. Can I complain/report this buyer to eBay? Or just put this down to experience?

19lottie - it may not be theft but it's obtaining property by deception (i.e. she lied about it being damaged to obtain a refund and is now selling it BNWT). In law it's as serious as theft.

Maybe I should contact the buyer directly?

Report them to ebay, I wouldn't contact the seller directly because she will probably just block you and continue to sell the item.

maybe so, but I’ve used ebay for 15 years (5 years as a business seller) Yes I know, I recognised your name. Maybe for a business seller it wouldn't be worth messing about with this type of thing but for someone like me that doesn't sell that much and can spare the time to chase these things then I'd have a go. Ebay have surprised me in the past and resolved problems. It's like a lot of these types of things, it's who you are lucky enough to get through to.

OP...... maybe so, but can you prove it?
I’ve given you my opinion that you’re wasting your energy here but if you want to spend your time pursuing this when nothing will come of it, it’s your choice.

It is just annoying that someone could get away with being so blatantly dishonest. I may not be able to 'prove' it's my item she's now selling, but it's not something that's available in the shops so how did she suddenly get hold of one to sell if it's not the one she bought from me? (if you see what I mean?!).

It's the principle isn't it. Anyhoo, what's your next move.
