Does this sole look like a genuine Clarks?

Hi all, I bought a pair of Clarks suede biker style boots off ebay, brand new. Arrived today - they are nice but the sole looks a bit odd to me (see pic attached). Too smooth when biker boots normally have ridges. And no Clarks logo.

What are your thoughts on this as I'm unsure what to do?

I've definitely got Clarks shoes that don't have the name on the bottom or a European size. I purchased them in store... I'll dig through my shoes later and double check.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 26/08/2016 03:50

I'm furssing they might be Clarks, just resoled amf very very old?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 26/08/2016 03:51

Furssing Hmm
Guessing

OneTiredMummmyyy · 26/08/2016 05:08

Yes those are the ones, smilingeyes. I have been trawling the net for pics of Clarks biker boots and I've not found any with a smooth sole, nor any without the Clarks logo on them.
Her listings say no retuns, but I think that is irrelevant if there is a problem anyway.

Yes your seller states no refunds - ignore that. It is a worthless comment. and she is wrong and doesn't know what she is talking about.

Just get your case opened and let eBay decide.

Littlelondoner · 26/08/2016 08:00

With the case of fakes Ebay usually tell you to distroy them as they are illegal then refund you. So seller wont have the boots or the money. Karma I guess. Espesially as she was rude also.

But I can't believe they make fake high street brands now! Shock

Also as someone who has sold on ebay in past. It is very very rare they side woth seller. So don't worry.

OneTiredMummmyyy · 26/08/2016 08:19

LittleLondoner - started the return today. Not sure they are fake (they may be!) but definitely v old and battered and probably re-heeled. Ok fair enough, she tried it on and hoped I'd be quiet and accept the dud boots - but her insistence that they are perfect after I have raised the issue with her really grates! She should just accept the return, which is what I'd do. I'm confident the decision will go in my favour but she will drag it out for weeks I think by refusing the refund until ebay step in. Envy

If they are resoled I wonder if all the treads were worn or cut off. They should not claim they are new if they are not - that alone is bad enough.

She can claim all she likes. You can escalate the case in 8 days - and you can also neg her for being obstructive, wrong and lying - and leave low stars too if you wish them to impact her account too.

19lottie82 · 26/08/2016 08:36

Hi OP - if you want to leave negative feedback, just make sure you wait until you've been refunded, and keep it factual so eBay have no reason to remove it.

19lottie82 · 26/08/2016 08:38

littlelondoner that's not strictly true. For eBay to instruct a buyer to destroy a "fake", the buyer must have submitted proof (usually paperwork from the manufacturer), that the item is 100% a counterfeit.

If the buyer doesn't have this they will have to send it back.

If this wasn't the case then I could go and buy a £5000 handbag on eBay, claim it was fake and I'd get to keep it, sorry destroy it!

SoupDragon · 26/08/2016 08:40

If they had been resoled, the suede would ba far scruffier than it is. To need a new sole surely they would havebeenworn a lot and those boots haven't.

OneTiredMummmyyy · 26/08/2016 09:17

Seller has admitted boots are 3 years or so old. I said that is fine but they are not in good condition... Suede is bobbled and the buckles marked... And they have a crap sole to boot that she didn't mention in the listing. Wouldn't have been too bothered if they'd been £10 but £42 is taking the p!!
SoupDragon - the suede is not in great shape. I put them up against a pair of my (genuine Clarks) brown ankle boots and the brown boots that are 2-3 years old and well worn look better!!

VioletBam · 26/08/2016 09:18

Did she list them as new OP?

OneTiredMummmyyy · 26/08/2016 09:25

VioletBam yes, they were listed as new without box...

ohidoliketobe · 26/08/2016 09:32

Have you been I touch with Clarks? It'll strengthen your case. There might be an item code on the inside of the boot. If you sent pictures of the boots and the details to Clarks customer services I'm sure they'd help out confirming if they are genuine / resoled etc.

OneTiredMummmyyy · 26/08/2016 09:58

I did get in touch with Clarks - they told me to take the boots in to a store to have them verified. However the seller has now agreed to a return and sent me a pre paid label so hopefully this saga will be resolved... And I can restart my quest for some (proper) biker boots Grin

OP posts:
smilingeyes11 · 26/08/2016 10:23

well listing as new when they are not would guarantee you a refund without the other issues.

TheoriginalLEM · 26/08/2016 10:26

fake clarkes? wow - that is scraping the barrel. I had a lair of biker boots from clarks and they fell to bits after 2 wears. had to battle for a refund

OneTiredMummmyyy · 26/08/2016 10:32

Thing is - I can believe they would fake Clarks. When you think, there are fake Levis around (as I can vouch for when I bought DP a brand new pair of 501s from Ebay with tags on and when they arrived they were basically jeggings). Levis sell for around £50 but Clarks boots can easily go for more than that brand new (some styles anyway).

OP posts:
leccybill · 26/08/2016 10:41

I don't think they are fake. Just old, and re-soled.

ColintheCrow · 26/08/2016 11:41

I looked on mine and they're all identifiable on the soles... not necessarily a European size though. Most of them have codes in the leather on the insides also and patterned soles.

I don't think they're fakes either... that only seems to happen on the desert boots going by googling and in countries where they can be a lot of money for people to afford.

So resoled I guess... but it's weird? And how are the inside soles not worn? I've spent far too much time on this 🙈🙈

OneTiredMummmyyy · 26/08/2016 12:44

Old and re-soled is my guess too. She said they were too big for her so I wonder if she had extra insoles in them when she wore them, hence the insole looks ok still. Really weird... I have never come across anything like this on ebay before. Most of what I buy is amazing. I know, I've spent far too much time on it too. Envy Appreciate all your feedback, it has been very helpful.

OP posts:
WannaBeDifferent · 26/08/2016 12:50

They have most certainly been resoled - what a bummer .

OneTiredMummmyyy · 26/08/2016 12:59

WannabeDifferent I know... And the cheek of her resoling and then trying to pass them off as new and then feigning shock and disbelief when I rumbled her, insisting the boots are "perfect". Envy

They might be specially made ones for their outlet stores
