Awkward rude buyer, sigh

sold an item couple of weeks ago, stated in the lisiting that item would be sent using collect+

she's just sent me a rude message saying she hasn't got it and hopes I haven't sent it through yodel as they're useless and only deliver during working hours which is no good for someone who works full time out of the home Hmm I tracked it and they have tried to deliver and left a card for her. I've replied giving her the tracking number and explaining about the attempted delivery, that it was sent using collect+ as stated in the listing. I also mentioned I can't be responsible for what time of day they deliver to her!

What now? sheesh Hmm I've sent it, they've tried to deliver it and she's not home but any courier would be the same Confused

She's obvously going to be really awkward, the message was rude and abrubt and it's the first one she's sent - I have 100% feedback and done nothing wrong surely? Sad

have you asked what she would like you to do now?

she sounds a nightmare.

maxybrown · 12/07/2012 15:00

No, I haven't as not sure what collect+ protocol is on undelivered parcels, may ring them shortly - but to be fair I've stuck to mypart of the deal, the company have stuck to their part and it's just her that's not in!! I've looked again and they've tried to deliver it twice gah!

fergoose · 12/07/2012 16:49

won't they be returning it to you after 2 failed delivery attempts I wonder?

LineRunner · 12/07/2012 16:59

I really can't see how this is your problem. And I can't see how ebay could possibly find fault with you if the mad bat opens a case.

fergoose · 12/07/2012 17:23

if she opens a case without proof of delivery she will get a full refund from eBay.

LineRunner · 12/07/2012 17:29

fergoose, you know a lot more about this than me, so thanks for the info.

So what's to stop a buyer simply failing to answer the door to the postman because they've changed their mind about a purchase?

fergoose · 12/07/2012 17:33

Absolutely nothing stopping them at all unfortunately!

LineRunner · 12/07/2012 17:41

Crikey. I've been lucky so far then that I've only had one really arsey one!

fergoose · 12/07/2012 17:46

well I think most people are pretty decent - but you will always get the odd one unfortunately, luck of the draw and all that.

maxybrown · 12/07/2012 17:57

so even though I have full tracking saying she hasn't been in they'll still refund her? Sad think I'll close my account after this, I haven't got the money to do this

OP posts:
fergoose · 12/07/2012 17:59

yes, they would refund her in full. I guess Collect Plus will return it to you after 2 failed delivery attempts? I don't know what their policy is on that.

maxybrown · 12/07/2012 18:07

I don't know can't find it. But they also might charge me for returning it - great!

That is it now with ebay if she makes a claim. What will happen if I don't have the funds in my PP account? (I don't) and why do I feel so incredibly guilty?

OP posts:
maxybrown · 12/07/2012 18:08

collect plus also say they may dispose of the item - double great

OP posts:
fergoose · 12/07/2012 18:50

they will dispose of the item? where does it say that, did you call them?

Your paypal account would go into the red and you would have to transfer funds to bring it back to zero. Has she said she will open a case, the card she has got does it tell her to call to arrange redelivery then?

maxybrown · 12/07/2012 19:11

In the terms and conditions I saw before Hmm guess they would return though realistically.

No she hasn't, I'm jumping the gun Grin I've asked her if there are any instructions on it - also asked them

OP posts:
fergoose · 12/07/2012 19:41

I would have thought they would return it to you, or attempt to at least! I guess destroying a package is a very last resort.

LineRunner · 13/07/2012 08:30

Royal Mail cards say that you can either: collect the package from the sorting office; ring up or go online and have it re-delivered; ring up or go on-line and have it taken to your most convenient post office where you can collect it at your convenience.

I'd kind of assumed that ebay would consider that 'delivered'!

Maxybrown, good luck, this sounds like a right load of hassle.

maxybrown · 13/07/2012 09:19

Linerunner - it has been sent via a courier not RM - it would have cost stupid money to send RM to have it tracked due to the weight. I did list the correct courier method on the listing but I bet she hasn't clicked on it to see exactly who it was, partly am wondering if she now thought for the price charged (£4.99) it would be going standard parcels and she could have claimed non arrival! But maybe that's just the overly suspicious in me! Wink She is claiming that the courier refuse to leave them with a neighbour signed for - but I use them often and they will collect and drop off with my neighbours no problem

Perhaps she should have mentioned when she bought it she would only be available at 10pm sunday evening and I could have dropped it off for her Hmm

I haven't heard back yet...................................watch this space eh!

OP posts:
maxybrown · 13/07/2012 09:21

I guess it will all depend on how much she wants the item, it's brand new in the packaging and she got it for half the price it costs new

OP posts:
fergoose · 13/07/2012 09:49

I guess you will now just have to wait - hope it ends happily.

catchafallingstar · 13/07/2012 09:53

if you dont have the money in your paypal account to refund her, then paypal/ebay will reund her (cant remember who it is think its paypal) and then chase you for the money - threatening the usual techniques of court and ccj's if you dont refund them the money....

LineRunner · 13/07/2012 12:11

Sorry maxybrown, should have added, so presumably Collect Plus have similar redelivery/pick up arrangements?

Actually I just looked at their website and they do say 'ideal for ebay'.

maxybrown · 14/07/2012 18:01

Yes linerunner - however they don't allow for unreasonable people it seems Hmm

she has only just got back to me today - here we go, guessing seeing as there is no mention that I am expected to pay to re sedn it to her by HER chosen method HmmHmm
This is what she sent me

Apparently, the Yodel company acts for CollectPlus. I was just barred from re-scheduling online (probably, because they made a third delivery attempt). I am a full-time single mother without a car. There is no way that I can collect the item from a delivery depot somewhere far away. Pls contact them and order them to return the item to you and pls re-send it with Parcel Force or Royal Mail. They deliver also on Saturdays and I can also order the parcel to be delivered to my local postoffice across the road. Thank you. I am awaiting your confirmation.

OP posts:
fergoose · 14/07/2012 18:08

How rude and demanding. She obv did receive a card through the door if she has contacted them, why couldn't she reschedule delivery after the first attempt, maybe to a neighbour or to work?

I would tell her once you receive the item back to you that you shall refund her in full. If she wants it sending via another method she will have to pay for the postage again.

And add her to your blocked bidder list too

maxybrown · 14/07/2012 18:14

I have told her just that fergoose - glad it's not just be being sensitive to the rudeness. I've told her just how much more RM will cost and that parcel force charge extra for sat delivery - unless she wants to pay it or I will refund her once the item is back with me! I also suggested that if RM or parcel force are the ONLY ways she can get parcels to maybe check with sellers first -hmm] yikes I have never had anyone like this before. I've also made it clear that I am not a shop or a business just a Mum selling things on!
