It is a form of self harm isn’t it? I know I’m harming myself but.. there’s just no stopping it. I had a right old cry yesterday after finding this thread, thought maybe it would be a better day today… it was till about 11am. I must have consumed thousands of calories through the middle of today.

i know what you mean. It sounds so self pitying to say but it always gets me at the moment. I feel for you x

Ok, but that wasn't til 11am, so you didn't start first thing in the morning.

What triggered the binge? Was it a feeling, a thought?

All good info, thanks. Will have a go at the worksheet and look at resources over the weekend. It’s all the mindset isn’t it, but I don’t know why mine has gone so self destructive recently

Maybe there's something underlying that's making you lean on a familiar, in some ways comforting behaviour? Maybe it's become more habitual than previous at the moment. But that's ok, because you can start to change it now.

Also, while objectively it isn't good for us and it is extremely upsetting or worse, binging does on some level do something positive for us otherwise we wouldn't do it.

I would really encourage you to look at the CCI resources I posted below. One of the activities is looking at the positives and negatives of our current disordered eating behaviour and the advantages and disadvantages of working on it/not working in it. It's a really helpful exercise if you are able to be very honest with yourself and can be quite revealing.

I know that when you're in a dark place with it, it's really hard to work on it, find the mental space and the energy to self-examine, but speaking from experience the time I've invested over the past 4/5 months in doing so, even though it was extremely hard to begin, has improved my binging so much. When I think how long I've been binging (20 years now Sad) this time spent on starting to tackle it is a real drop in the ocean. Heck, the hours spent tackling it using these resources and speaking to my therapist are utterly dwarfed by the hours I have spent binging over those years!
