I already bought him a fancy watch when we got married and he has a lovely bike! He said he would be mortified to have a personal number plate...

Why spend so much if there’s nothing he wants? Why not hang onto the money and then treat him to a weekend away when you can? I think the idea of an original painting is a good one, but then I am an artist.

Thank you for your suggestions. There's nothing he needs... he isn't the sort to ask for something either. I don't want to hang out on the money, I had planned a big ski trip pre-covid which was £3,000. I want to get him something special, he does so much for us as a family.

The painting is a great idea! Any others? :)

Ideally you would need 2 pairs , one to rest. Shoe trees , care kit , and shoe horn could all add up .

Depends a bit on his personality - if he's someone who appreciates nice clothes then something like a really classic coat would be nice.

I am dreading thinking of something for my 37 year old DH already - I got him a high end classic watch for his 30th and he just doesn't care about clothes, shoes etc. so something like that wouldn't be much of a gift for him (more for me as I enjoy dressing him up!) He bought himself his bucket list bike this year....I think it'll have to be a trip away so fingers crossed covid fucks off in the next three years!

For the actual day, there are some fab meal delivery service out there now I think Rick Stein and M&S are doing breakfast delivery around Valentine's Day, and if you're near a Gails bakery they do breakfast delivery all the time.

For dinner, Hawksmoor, Rick Stein, L'Ortolan, are all doing fab 3 course meal boxes, plus lots of London restaurants on The Dishpatch inc Angela Hartnett. If the date is near Valentines Day, Tom Kerridge/ Hand & Flowers menu looks amazing
