No idea what the feck that would be so i wouldn't visit that one. Most of the stuff on here tends to be women talking about womens stuff (surprise, surprise!) so i miss a lot of it out. You know - the kind of 'My nipples are sore' thing.

I normally check in here first than the active convos and try to stay away from certain issues when i read that everyone is falling out with each other over a story in the news. Hackles are raised, claws are sharpened and us blokes know when to leave by the back door quietly...........

DrDaddy · 28/08/2007 13:33

As a MN newbie I once asked wtf a mooncup was and wished I hadn't! [ EricL - believe me, you don't want to know...]
I'm on here very little really. I tend to look in here and Culture Vultures + quick scan of ACs. I absolutely avoid AIBU threads, cos the answer is almost always "Yes you are. Move on." and agree with Eric re. the News threads. Pure vitriol quite often.

You know us men. We're complete "know-it-alls".

There have been some nice instances where people have given some really good tips, re. longhaul travel with kids for example. But the threads I liked best were the "Guess the movie title" etc. They're sadly lacking now....

Yeah - i guess it is a typically female thing. Us guys want to find an answer to stuff or be witty and irreverent, but the ladies seem to want to point out horrors from the papers or physical symptons and discuss them in terrifying detail.

I guess it's an extension of the 'School Yard Mum' syndrome where everyone likes to know everybodys business!

zippitippitoes · 28/08/2007 16:35

oh I want to be witty and irreverent

unfortunately I'm 99% unsuccessful

DaDaDa · 28/08/2007 17:47

Mainly browse In The News, AIBU (I like to see a bit of a ruck in action, I'm usually stood holding the coats and tutting) and Relationships. Plus whatever is relevant to DS's age (was BF, then weaning, now development) then a quick look at Chat - usually rubbish.

The Relationships threads have given me pause for thought on how I approach things occasionally. Although I do think there are some pretty unrealistic women out there - can't they choose a bit more carefully in the first place?!

My favourite thread was the Babycentre/Netmums 'tickers' pisstake one:

I know this is a site aimed at parents - but do we have to talk about kids ALL of the time?

I spend most of my day with them and would rather talk about things not related to kids really.

I'm not bad am i?

(Fuck it - i don't care anyways..... )

filthymindedvixen · 28/08/2007 18:37

Go on then DrDaddy, start a new one then

filthymindedvixen · 28/08/2007 18:38

that's a game, I mean.

DrDaddy · 29/08/2007 10:54

Ok. I may just do that

Btw - this is what I mean about the In the News threads.
QED.

morningpaper · 29/08/2007 10:56

That tickers thread was hilarious

I think we should have a monthly Tickers day

morningpaper · 29/08/2007 10:57

oh sorry I mean to say

snigger

UnquietDad · 29/08/2007 21:10

God, I don't go near anything involving mooncups, fanjos, or even relationship problems really!

I tend mainly to look at Chat, News, Books, Men's Room, AIBU and TV addicts. And the "spiritual" bit if I fancy a laugh.

UnquietDad · 29/08/2007 21:12

Although I'd agree News has just turned into hideous poring over the MM story and endless "OMG, have you seen this story about two toddlers viciously mauled to death" kind of stuff.

Pan · 30/08/2007 00:23

I tend to focus on Conception, Breastfeeding, Adoption, Arts and Crafts, and Style type threads.

I know very little about these (conception momentarily excepted), but that doesn't seem to stop a lot of other posters.

singledadofthree · 30/08/2007 00:25

i dont even read them, glance at title and give an ill formed opinion - seems to work for most people

nightowl · 30/08/2007 00:28
