What is it single men want?

I know this is probably a stupid question, but having been single on and off for 5 years post separation, I'm wondering whether I'm looking at the wrong age range (men my age) and should be looking younger. I'm not looking for marriage & definitely no more children, but I would like somebody who has the stamina to keep up and emotional depth to stick around for a while and appreciate my cooking and caring skills. As a single mum spontaneity can take some planning, but surely there are some men in the same boat too? Also, when did it become acceptable not to say why you aren't interested in a second date instead of just not making contact? I?m no supermodel-being on the curvaceous side-but I?m not fat, stupid or dull either. I work full time in a mainly female environment which doesn?t help, but why has the man I left for drinking & being sexless got himself settled and I?m still floating?

Cept for teh ricky gervais and the sarcasm bit.

I dont think i know many single men either. I'd be careful about touting yourself on an internet site though Maggie. There are some unscrupulous folk out there.

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 21:23

aye

sorry

wasnt trying to tout myself

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/10/2006 21:25

Oh no no no no! I didnt mean it like that. Would love to help you, but I just fear that you will get some numpty CAT you offering to let you pee in his mouth or something.....

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 21:26

hahahahahaaaaaaaaaa again

Pannini · 05/10/2006 21:28

maggie-

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 21:28

que?

Pannini · 05/10/2006 21:30

echoing VVVCP - there's some very funny pee-ers out there...

Pannini · 05/10/2006 21:32

oooh was that a reference to Piers Morgan on MN, Pannini? if it was it was very funny and topical on so many levels!!

Pannini: Yes it was!Thank you for noticing it.

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 21:37

tee hee

youre good

Pannini · 05/10/2006 21:39

I know. Thank you.

Pann · 05/10/2006 21:42

That Pannini is as mad as a tent full of rabbits.

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 21:42

tell me about this queue of wondeful men, pan?

Pann · 05/10/2006 22:03

Mags! Me? Noo, 'tis Pannini with the queue of eligible men for you to peruse..I just know the types who are 'spoken for'..... and do get spoken for often!!

No I'm in the wild jungle of singledom...

do you find/assume the best men are already taken? Same as the women. Life is sooo cruel like that...

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 22:13

sorry, i meant pannini and then you posted and it looked like i meant you

but, hello anyway!

Pann · 05/10/2006 22:22

Subterfuge - a dreadful thing, and you were right!! As you know.....I name changed as a folly! I was evenmadderthanmadwoc before...

it is a little annoying when it is assumed that as you are single then you MUST be 'looking'...a curse for the couples, and a little uncomfortable for them at times....

VeniVidiVampireQV · 05/10/2006 22:46

Pann, quit with the namechanges.....

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 22:47

whats the deal with namechanging?

Pann · 05/10/2006 22:56

VVV - ok. duh.

Mags - because it's amusing. A bit. And a bit shallow. And I like it now and again.

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 22:56

i see... all this computer stuff. its terribly confusing.

Pann · 05/10/2006 23:03

nah, surely?...like anything else..learn the rules...and then chuck them out the window and make it up as you go along!!!

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 23:04

sometimes i ponder chucking my laptop out the window. does that count?

Pann · 05/10/2006 23:12

laptop out window??? You ARE madder than madwoc!!..or not so, if it's a work one, then that's ok. I have a beautiful laptop here, and its a treasure.....

maggiesmama · 05/10/2006 23:13

its not a work one. its old and slow and makes me cross. and getting cross with an inanimate object is clearly insanity.

i want a mac

Pann · 05/10/2006 23:28

ah! A woman with ambition....inanimate madness? Have spent many a happy minute shouting at my car/mower/old pc/television/puntured bike tyre/printer/various keys/books(when the plot doesn't work out as it should)/my boss (who qualifies as inanimate!).....always helps...not problem-solving, but helps anyway.....

VeniVidiVampireQV · 06/10/2006 00:01

Do you find it increases with age then, this shouting at inanimate objects?
