7pm DMAX highlights. It may be possible to watch on catchup, via WWW.

Beninthesortingoffice · 27/05/2023 06:46

Thanks!

JofraArchersFastestBall · 27/05/2023 06:59

Close at the top of the table - good luck to Heidi and SDTGISANEVILWOLEFGENIUS in today's bonkers uphill time trial!

Plasmodesmata · 28/05/2023 21:01

Well that was a finish.

Plasmodesmata · 28/05/2023 21:02

Only 4 of my team got to the end!

lljkk · 28/05/2023 21:27

Fantastic Finish (!) Highly recommended to watch the last 3 minutes at least.

Is anyone up for a Dauphine thread? Starts 4 June (!)

Having been firmly in 10th last position for most of the Giro, my faith in Cav finally pays off and I jump to the giddy heights of 7th Grin

What a finish Shock Never thought I'd see that classic acceleration again - and good on G for supporting his old friend Smile

Dh had suggested that might happen and I poo-pooed him Blush but on reflection, Ineos had no skin in the the sprinters' game.

Dh and I had ended up having to refer to "Pink Gee" obviously not for the final stage and "DGee". I haven't checked but I hope that he got the Combativity Award. It was would be unfair for him to come 2nd in everything that he was competing for Sad

Plasmodesmata · 28/05/2023 22:57

Ooh well having paid for Eurosport to watch the Giro might as well watch the Dauphine.
Is there a Velogames for it that I can do spectacularly badly at as everyone falls off or catches plague?

BookWorm45 · 29/05/2023 08:36

Woo hoo Cav ! Though I was distracted when watching the sprint by the guy who crashed behind him and whose bike skidded across half the road. And I am extra delighted that I had him in my team (Even though other people in my league did way better than me grrrrrrrrr).

Not sure if Cav would be able to get the final sprint in Paris though - unless other teams (like Ineos yesterday) are helpful.

prettybird · 29/05/2023 09:42

I agree @BookWorm45 - not sure he'll be able to repeat it on the Champs Elysées.

As long as a) he's got his ride in the TdF (and after today he should have confirmed it Grin) and b) and more importantly he's already had a win before the Champs Elysées to get the record, I'll be happy. I'd hate for it to come down to his final race in the TdF to get it Shock

Of course, if he get the win on the Champs Elysées as well , I'll be ecstatic Grin

prettybird · 29/05/2023 09:43

....after yesterday Blush

Olinguito · 29/05/2023 12:56

What a brilliant ending to the Giro! It made up a bit for the disappointment of G's result in the Time Trial (although I did have Roglic in my team so not all bad). Congratulations to SDTGISANEVILWOLEFGENIUS, and thank you FelicityLemon for organising the league again.

lljkk · 29/05/2023 13:29

I wonder what the heck Roglić thought was happening when GT started sprinting at front. I suspect a moment of being puzzled if not panicked. GT had such a happy glint in his eyes talking to reporters afterwards.

Until we saw the overhead shot we half thought the peloton was gifting Cav the win, it was only from overhead you realise why the other sprinters sat up so "soon". Yesterday's win will totally put Cav in to mindset to break Mercxk record in July.

Is it Ackerman who went down badly? Came in with flailed arm <ouch>. I'm glad that crash was well behind the main sprint & that Milan avoided going down, too.

DearHeidiHansen · 29/05/2023 17:21

Congratulations to SDTGISANEVILWOLEFGENIUS and to everyone who kept the faith in Cav.

HeyJackKerouac · 04/06/2023 07:06

After the first couple of weeks the last few days of the Giro were terrific. Loved seeing G leading Cav out. It's impossible to explain to a non cycling-fan what was so special about that.
Looking forward to the Dauphine starting this afternoon. Will be interesting to see how Egan Bernal is doing.
I have registered for velogames ready for the TdF. I'm terrible at these things though. I always go with heart over head.

DearHeidiHansen · 07/06/2023 19:08

Just seen that Velogames has automatically created a Mumsnet Marauders league for those of us who have teams for the Dauphine and Harry Tuttle is doing astonishingly well. Currently in overall 10th place out of over 5,000 teams. Well done!

Plasmodesmata · 08/06/2023 20:27

Yes I saw that too! Harry has done really well! Me, not so much.

prettybird · 08/06/2023 20:33

I never got round to putting in a team Sad

Olinguito · 09/06/2023 17:17

Harry Tuttle is 3rd overall now! This team belongs to my partner and he threw it in at the last minute. Unfortunately the same tactic hasn't worked for me!

Plasmodesmata · 09/06/2023 17:23

On the podium!

Sorry - really late to this. Just seen the end of the Giro lead out. That's really nice. (I also loved the stone paper scissors stage win last year as well)
