I missed the deadline for a ToB team but enjoying the racing today I must say. Won't spoil the enjoyment for those who will be watching the highlights, but top notch racing today and a very exciting finale!

Haven't seen any of today's but I see my team somehow managed to top our league yesterday

Calum Johnston, in my team, is another one who ds used to cycle with (and who ds tells me was always overlooked by British Cycling for their Academy, so he's got himself on to the pro-circuit with no help from them). It's his first Tour of Britain so I doubt I'll get many points from him but on principle I had to pick him

In-laws will be watching the IOW stage. They're going to have to go round and round a few times to fit the distance in!
My first live cycling watching was on the Isle of Wight in the 80s. Sean Yates won, I think. Back in the mists of time....

I feel for the ToB riders today. Looks absolutely miserable. I'd definitely rather be at La Vuelta!

The British riders at least will be used to it!

The fact that I'm still 1st in the Tour of Britain just proves how little we know of the participants I really hope that Calum Johnston (who I know as ds cycled with him) and Finn Crockett score some points by the end of the ToB

Well thank goodness for Mads! With half my team gone home, most of the remainder doing nothing and Rog probably about to start reeling Remco in, were it not for Mads I'd be totally doomed. As opposed to only about 90% doomed...

He's not on my team but I do like him and it was hotting up to be an interesting last few days with him and Mas closing the gap on Remco. What a shame. 😥

That was a nasty crash. Not surprised he's not carrying on. Shame though, things are always more exciting with a bit of competition.

The last 3 stages of the Tour of Britain have been cancelled.

I think the cancellation of the ToB is rather a shame. I think they could have shown respect to the late Queen without going so far.
This race is a very big thing for a lot of the domestic riders particularly- potentially career altering in fact as contracts are under discussion for next season. And the economic impact on the host towns and cities shouldn't be underestimated. I've been (very peripherally) involved in a stage in the past and have a couple of friends who work on the Tour and the work that goes on in the background is immense.
Not that I am suggesting that they should have ignored the Queen's death but there will be negative effects on so many people as a result of this decision that I wonder if a better solution could have been found.

The statement mentioned operational reasons, maybe police needed elsewhere? It is a shame though.

It's all very difficult. I can see both sides of the argument around cancelling events. I'm glad the Great North Runis going ahead as the impact on charity would be enormous and I really don't think the Queen would have wanted that. I suppose cancelling professional events has less impact than community events but I do feel for the ToB riders and organisers.

Just trailing onto the end of this thread to say World Champs women's race has a surprise ending, if anyone hasn't seen it. Or maybe not a surprise really.
Gentleman's race is on at silly o clock tomorrow morning will wait for highlights and try to not get spoilered.
