I think (Ok, I know because my back is bad so I've been lying in front of the coverage for most of today) that the spectator pushing a cyclist over the barrier had some issues with mental health. The cyclist has said he doesn't want to press charges because the man obviously has enough troubles in his life (what a nice rider I must go and learn his name). As for the Guarda apparently there is VERY strong enforcement of the not going near the riders thing and there are constant tannoy announcements to that effect, they are on very high alert for terrorism after Barcelona. Plus they are known for their less than gentle approach to policing, I know this because Eurosport told me

And Omar Fraile abandons due to illness www.velonews.com/2017/09/vuelta-a-espana/mortons-lonely-vuelta-debut-dimension-data-three-riders_447203

This sounds suspiciously like what I have been suffering from the past few days. I couldn't even face going to the local shop (thank goodness Amazon delivers groceries!) let alone getting on a bike and riding a Vuelta stage.

Poor Fraile, he couldn't keep anything down. I know this because the people in charge of the TV coverage decided to send a motorbike to cover him puking into ditches off his bike. The commentators we going 'leave him alone'. Poor you Felicity, that's absolutely grim. Hope you are better soon and wildly jealous that you can get quick Amazon groceries! My friend can get them in under 4 hours, it's like she lives in the future.

Well, what will today bring .

Thread derail alert - what are you crocheting Mr Slant? I'm a knitter, who dabbles in crochet. Tbh, I am not even much of a knitter any more. Since DS was born 18 months ago I have barely picked up my needles. Sad

I will try and get a Tour of Britain team in. I've just driven a long way, which involved a ferry, and I'm a bit tired. DH owes me a lie in tomorrow, I will try and get it done then.

Thanks for the message Felicity. Looks like it's just the two of us at the moment, hope the rest of the peloton join in too. Come on you lot!

MrSlant · 02/09/2017 22:55

I'm in for the ToB! Late but yet another heart over head team ready for the start tomorrow. Possibility we may go and see the final stage but depends on Sport and what that might bring over the next week.

Trying to get over the odd feeling of disappointment I have that DS2, after rubbishing cycling for many years, has decided to join his brothers in a charity bike ride tomorrow. Love the idea of them cycling together only it means he has my bike and I have to watch from the sidelines once again! Pfft.

Made it!
