I nearly lost it in the car on the way home - it is so sweet

Bless him .

SoMuchToBits · 28/01/2009 20:30

Aaawww.. he's 6 isn't he? Does he love singing?

My ds does (in fact he could sing tunes before he could talk..)

DumbledoresGirl · 28/01/2009 20:39

Naswm's ds1 is going to be a West End star (a la Lee Mead) and I am going to be able to say, "Ahhhh I have known him since he was 3".

Remember it ladies, you heard it first here. He is a star in the making.

How lovely for you naswm, you should be able to bottle moments such as you had listening to him singing today.

SoMuchToBits · 28/01/2009 20:43

It's lovely when they do that sort of thing, isn't it? I'm lucky to have the video of ds playing the chime bars (very enthusiastically) at the 2007 Christmas performance.

I can't stop him singing now. Just make sure you encourage your ds naswm - there's nothing better.

SoMuchToBits · 28/01/2009 21:25

I'm going out now, to see my mates from the band. See you soon!

naswm · 28/01/2009 21:54

just come back to the pc after an hour and a half 'business' meeting with dh...

THANK YOU all for these posts (esp your lovely words DG). DS1 is 6.5 and has wanted to go on the stage since he was 18 months. He is naturally musical and a keen dancer and actor. I am not pushing him, but am not restraining his enthusiasm either. He has been desperate for singing lessons for ages, but we have held back til now - but today he was ecstatic. And when he told me what he had learnt (one line of) and then sang it to me, well, I melted.

there's something magical about really little boys voices isn't there?
I am a sucker for treble voices, I'm afraid.

naswm · 28/01/2009 22:00

I agree dID. dh went to cathedral schools and has wanted a choristor since he heard the words it's a boy (twice!)

Well I have had "Where is love?" or should I say "Where-ere-ere-ere-ereeeee is love?" going round and round my head ever since reading this thread last night. Those are the only 3 words I know of that song too! Thanks naswm's ds1

If he ever gets to chorister level and starts singing Pie Jesu or Allegri's Miserere or similar, can you record him for me and send it to me naswm? I adore the sound of choristers singing that sort of thing. (Or Faure's Requiem - sigh)

naswm · 29/01/2009 21:37

oh lol DG I am sorry!!!

I doubt he will go down the chorister line - I think he is more likely to go down the stage/theatre route. although his voice is very sweet though so who knows

the lines are

Where-ere-ere-ere-ereeeee is love?
Does it fall from skies above?
is it underneath the willow tree?
that I've been dreaming of?

Cant rememnber the rest without looking at the music, sorry!

Is he still singing it tonight?

naswm · 29/01/2009 21:42

is the pope called Benedict?

OP posts:
SoMuchToBits · 29/01/2009 21:43

My ds is still singing....Christmas stuff! Yes, we are still getting Rudolf the red-nose effing reinderr, and Jingle Bells!

twentypence · 29/01/2009 21:45

Every year I cry buckets at both the music evening and the prize giving as two of the choristers sing Pie Jesu.

I think I will have to be medicated if it's ever ds doing it.

Where is she
That I close my eyes to see?

I will have to get a tissue now.

naswm · 29/01/2009 21:58

and 20p - I will bear that in mind!!!!!

I have already noted teh musical showcase eve in the summer - so will prepare myself with valium in advance

OP posts:
SoMuchToBits · 29/01/2009 21:59

Awww - you will need valium, enormous box of tissues, and a video camera!

naswm · 29/01/2009 22:01

well I have all of those already lol

OP posts:
Shitemum · 29/01/2009 22:04

That's funny - DD1 sings 'where is love' sometimes and i fondly imagine her singing it at an audition for a part in a film or something some day

Since her dad took her to the Mesia at xmas mostly she just sings 'halleluyah!!!!!!' loudly and tunelessly with 2yo DD2 joining in....

SoMuchToBits · 29/01/2009 22:07

Shitemum, we have also had "Hallejujah" with all the Christmas stuff!

At ds's school they have something called "Our Time" on a Friday afternoon, where they can choose what activity/club they do for the term. Ds has chosen the "Young voices" choir this term. I'm really hoping there will be a concert!

naswm · 29/01/2009 22:08

shitemum that is funny! (have ytou seen my thread about hampshite btw?!)

somuch - awwww (and btw, do cat me if you have the facility (I dont) so we can chat on msn some time, you are very funny!!!

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 29/01/2009 22:29

Naswm, giving me the lyrics isn't really much help as I actually only know the first line of the tune. Oh and the second line because it is a sort of repeat of the first line only a few notes higher (sort of), am I right?

BTW, I discovered something today which will interest you of musical bent. Part of Elvis Presley's Suspicious Minds is replicated in the hymn "Be Still for the Presence of the Lord". How weird is that?
