Know that title is awkwardly worded, but hopefully the meaning is clear....

I'll start and say (fairly or not):

Hugh Grant - public persona too miserable for him to be believable in comedic/romantic roles
Salman Rushdie - not interested after the hoopla around his fatwah
Pete Doherty - no desire to hear his music
George Michael - sordid escapades leave me cold
Marco Pierre White - no interest in his restaurants after tabloid dirty laundry

Richard Gere rumour

Youcannotbeserious · 08/04/2008 22:47

Good one Sky - I don't think Lady in Red has ever been the same for me since Chris De Burgh ran off with the Au Pair / Nanny!!

colacubes · 08/04/2008 22:50

I dont believe I mentioned any names did I Dances, I think that was chuffin!

As for whom ever sent a hamster up there, would have to pressume it was dead because no furry creature would go up there willingly surely!!

Oh and I to dance with a muffin top!!

Youcannotbeserious · 08/04/2008 22:54

The slebs I like best are the ones that go on 'Hello' and 'OK' and the like professing how much they love their spouse / have a great life / have the perfect family and then a few weeks later are exposed as cheating, lying bstrds!!

I just have no idea why anyone would set themselves up for such a monumental fall....

I mean, you might not agree with George Michael or even like him but at least the bloke is honest about it!!!!

skyatnight · 08/04/2008 22:55

Chris De Burgh is quite interesting in interviews. I think he is a wiley old goat. I suppose it is just too much of a temptation for most men, even artistic types, to resist when young women are throwing themselves at them (because they are famous).

Woody Allen?

Earlybird · 08/04/2008 22:56

Well - isn't George Michael honest because he was caught red-handed? He spent alot of years being elusive about his private life (understandably), and pretending to 'like' women.

James Blunt!!!

Chris De Burgh used to live down the road from my Granny in Ireland and she refused to speak to him after he ran off with the nanny...

I am sure he wasn't overly worried about that... It may have even been a blessed relief.........

colacubes · 08/04/2008 22:58

woody allen, that whole situation was very disturbing, not a great advertisement for father of the year, as for his acting directing, it seems some people will excuse anything to worship at the feet of a genius, I dont think I could.

Earlybird · 08/04/2008 22:59

skyatnight - Woody Allen is a great one.

Also Chris Langham and Michael Barrymore. Don't want to see anything they do because there is no way it will be funny given their 'revelations'.

OP posts:
colacubes · 08/04/2008 23:01

Chris langham, dont believe a word he utters about his innocence, Michael Barrymore he's a tosser, master of his own downfall. how about Tom Cruise after he danced on the sofa, or his Scientology rantings!!

skyatnight · 08/04/2008 23:02

Is he still with his adopted daughter (actually I think it was only Mia that adopted her, is that right)? I suppose if the relationship stands the test of time then it might gain in acceptability over time. These things happen.

colacubes · 08/04/2008 23:03

Oh jessica Simpson was apparentley rubbing her bf crotch whilst he was kissing Perez Hilton on new years eve!!

Youcannotbeserious · 08/04/2008 23:04

God, I can't believe how COOL I thought Tom Cruise was in top Gun.

Though, it's not the weird religion, the protestations of love or the rumours about him that put me off now - it's that god awful hair do....

Earlybird · 08/04/2008 23:04

Tom Cruise is a nutter.

Also, was never a big fan (and in spite of their seeming love/family dedication), Brad Pitt and Angelina will not be drawing me to the box office any time soon.

Gary Glitter. I did go to a couple of his Xmas shows, years ago and they were great fun... some time after the news broke about him, I was DJing in a club and playing a mix of 70s floorfillers and, without thinking, stuck on Leader of the Gang and there were complaints.
I also don't have much time for Bob Geldof after his support for Fathers 4 Justice and comments that women won't cook and clean for men any more and they should....

pillowcase · 08/04/2008 23:07

Carla Bruni.

Somebody mentioned Sarkozy already, but what about Carla Bruni? I LOVED her singing but can't listen to her now, sigh! Silly silly girl...

colacubes · 08/04/2008 23:07

poor Britney!!! now theres a sorry tale

skyatnight · 08/04/2008 23:10

There was another story in the papers about Tom Cruise having invented a fictitious film and having auditioned actresses for the role of his wife under the pretense that it was for the film. And he is number two in the WW Scientology organisation.

Chris Langham. Awful that he sought to make out it was a mistake. I think that guy out of The Who used the same defence, didn't he?

Frank Bough and Darren Day but I can't say I was ever a fan of either of them.

James Blunt's speaking voice puts me off.

colacubes · 08/04/2008 23:11

oh I killed that one with britney, christ, even her name sends people running

Earlybird · 08/04/2008 23:11

The 'guy from the Who' is Pete Townsend.

I still like Gary Glitter's music, it is a part of my childhood, but, knowing what we do, you can't 'enjoy' listening to it anymore. It would be good party music (of sorts) but no-one would play it.

fairyfly · 08/04/2008 23:14

No, as an artist etc should be talented in there own right. if not it's not a true artist. and i don't think any of the ones mentioned are true artists, just a victim of media.

edam · 08/04/2008 23:14

Took against John Lennon when I realised how he'd treated his eldest son (and first wife, for that matter). Bastard.

colacubes · 08/04/2008 23:14

I heard the TC rumour, who knows they do call it La La land dont they. darren day is not cool, very slimy I always thought. Oh Leslie Grantham and the sucking fingers episode, not nice at all, the perv.

UnquietDad · 08/04/2008 23:15

I used to like about half a dozen Michael Jackson songs, but now I just can't listen to them without shuddering. Even the stuff from before he was really weird.
