Poem lyrics of Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

I LOVE this poem and the last line reminds me to go to bed!

I can't do links and i'm not typing it all out.

Thumbs my eyes, throws my breath, tackles my heart,

And rain hacks my head to the bone, the hawk hangs

The diamond point of willthat polestars

The sea drowner's endurance, and I

When I am sad & weary,
when I think all hope is gone,
I walk along High Holburn,
and think of you with nothing on.

(no idea who wrote it but it makes me smile everytime I think about it!)

plummymummy · 28/06/2007 23:53

No don't know his name sorry. Christopher Marlowe was gay though and penned "Come live with me and be my love" dunno if that's the right title but it was read at my wedding.

Surrounded by her loved ones she?s never been alone
Yet she searches for a man that she has never known
In the darkness of the water lie all the wasted years
Will she surface from the shallows or drown in her own tears
Tired from the struggle in the sea that she now treads
The water still around her she slowly bows her head
She knows he?s out there somewhere but will she ever find
The man who will look forward and never look behind
Far off in the distance she sees a lonesome boat
It?s heading her direction she need only stay afloat
As the vessel draws nearer she sees a friendly face
Such a welcome sight in this dark and lonely place
She looks into his eyes and sees her own reflection
A smile is borne upon her face her spirits resurrection
They sit awhile, do not speak, they do not need to say
That yes the search was long but what matters is today
That only ever changes when one is standing at the gate
Only then has time been wasted only then is it too late

BBBee · 28/06/2007 23:54

He was the inspiration behind the Robin Williams film with "Carpe Diem" another of his was "Captain, O my Captain"

AbRoller · 29/06/2007 00:01

thanks. I'm far from a poet and it's quite childlike really but it's about searching for and finding my biological Dad. Means a lot to me so at the moment it's my favourite.

Pan · 29/06/2007 00:01
