I'm obsessed at the moment, loving the biog I'm reading, listening to his stuff all the time and loving his themetime radio hour programme.
sigh - I love that man

Yes, yes, yes. Love his radio show when I remember to listen to it.

Fave album? Mine is the unfashionable Street Legal

Me. 'Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You.' is one of his best, IMO.

Ooo, Abandoned Love is fab but I don't have it by Bob - have a version by the Everly Bros which is sublime. But all my LPs are in teh loft now

frumpygrumpy · 28/02/2007 20:47

I grew up on Dylan. The R2 show is hilarious, I've never heard him say so much

I do think he is one of these people that will be raised high and applauded in many, many years to come, much more so than he has in his lifetime.

Tinker · 28/02/2007 20:49

Fave song depends on which day it is. So many. I Want You always seemed to get onto my homemade compilation tapes

frumpygrumpy · 28/02/2007 20:50

Positively and Tangled Up in Blue do it for me. Infidels was actually my fav album but I know not many rated it.

agalch · 28/02/2007 20:51

Not crazy about him but do love his early stuff.Dp however is crazy about him.

We went to see him in Glasgow SECC about a million yrs ago and he was truly awful

Did put me off him for a while tbh,was sooo disapointed but hey we can all have an off night.

In fact isn't he playing the SECC in April again? Maybe my imagination.

Fave album (can't remember the name) but it has joey The Hurricaine etc?

Tinker · 28/02/2007 20:52

He can be truly awful live, it's true.

ipanemagirl · 28/02/2007 20:53

So pleased other Bob lovers are out there! My dh has banned me from talking about him because I've been yabbering on a lot since I started reading an excellent biog by Howard Sounes I think it's called Down The Highway. I find Bob fascinating - sigh.
I love Blood on the Tracks at the moment but also some early acoustic stuff too and the one that goes: If today was a mighty crooked highway - that's my favourite.
His radio show is on listen again on bbc website - he is so funny I can't believe his voice.
What are the best tracks on Street Legal? I think my dh has most of the back catalogue somewhere!

Oh Tinker I like the cut of Bob's jib!

I saw him live twice and he was great both times - but I hear he can be abominable live - we must have been lucky.

My dh loves him but now resents me for being too into him I think. Bob belongs to him maybe.

I used to work with someone who was a huge Bob Dylan fan. He invited us to a party where we all had to dress as one of his songs. I went as a Precious Angel and dh went as A Wanted Man.

agalch · 28/02/2007 21:00

Thanks giraffeski

My kids hate when dp has a few beers cos they we are all gonna hear "a bit of Bob".
Ds1 who is 15 is into Metallica Motley Crew and Tenacious D which is fine but dp will insist on shoving Bob down his throat.

Ds2 loves Bob too,he did a school project on Bob and The Hurricaine, don't think his teacher was too impressed lol.

I am surprised that hearing what he's like does not decrease my enthusiasm for the Cut of His Jib.

All of Blonde on Blonde - very obvious, I know - BUT I have managed to convert DD (she's 17) who disagrees with everything I say usually, which just proves that he really does walk on water.

Bubble99 · 28/02/2007 21:03

'Sarah' must be even more special, too. If you're called Sarah.
