Anyone inclined to give an opinion? I am leaning towards a yes/no vote, the yes to remove what I see as sexist language in the constitution, the no because the government are so appalling in terms of providing services and rights to disabled citizens and I feel the clause is paternalistic and pushes care on families yet again

Think they're not allowed to report exits until after the polls have closed

There are usually informal ones floating around though, I haven't even seen a how did you vote poll.

VoteNONO · 08/03/2024 21:05

I don't think the govt will want the exit polls released if the No side are clearly ahead..

Would make for very bad headlines in the morning...

They will need time to figure out how to spin it so the "far right" are the scapegoats for their inevitable, humiliating defeat!

(Probably a bit over confident, wishful thinking on my part 🙈)

It's eerily silent isn't it.

miri1985 · 08/03/2024 21:10

Just saw Gavan Reilly's post on twitter, apparently there aren't going to be any exit polls but then someone in his comments says IPSOS was taking one in Tralee and someone else says IPSOS polled them in Dungarvan

Plastic Sheeting is saying that people might be surprised by the turnout after a strong few hours.

Just listening to news and the numbers are a bit more in the normal range now. The islands are very low, what else do they have to be doing 😂

JaneJeffer · 08/03/2024 21:22

That's what I was thinking @DanielGault Grin

StephanieSuperpowers · 08/03/2024 21:23

You never know, they could ba at anything.

Referendum!
pontipinemum · 08/03/2024 21:30

I went over around 7pm didn't look to be a lot of names ticked off the list

JaneJeffer · 08/03/2024 21:32

The poor polling staff on the islands must be bored out of their minds after a 14 hour day of doing nothing!

I wonder if they're allowed their phones? Probably not? It'd be torture then alright.

JaneJeffer · 08/03/2024 21:36

They were allowed phones in my local. Well I don't know if they were allowed but they were using them!

DanielGault · 08/03/2024 21:37

Off topic, but kielty's late late is so embarrassing. What a pity.

Maybe they are allowed then so. Long day otherwise as you say.

Dublincailin · 08/03/2024 22:47

Well,

That's that.

With that turn out, we will know by lunch time

VoteNONO · 08/03/2024 22:53

Where are the exit polls? This is slightly worrying..

DanielGault · 08/03/2024 19:29

I haven't seen lots of far right shit about the refs. Granted I don't be following these people (how is Gemma O'd these days?) but I don't recall seeing much of anything from them on it.

yeah me neither

Exit polls in recent years have fairly honest.

Regardless of the result tomorrow
, I think the government were worried today of exit polls during the which galvanise no voters who have no interest except a protest vote.

I am not saying whether this is right or wrong merely what I think

VoteNONO · 08/03/2024 23:16

What I thought all along. Mary Lou today couldn't even bring herself to beg for the yes/yes.. Sinn Féins silence speaks volumes.

Desperately trying to distance themselves from the Yes campaign, not one Sinn Féiner appeared on a live debate.

If they had endorsed No their ratings would have rose again.
Aontú are the only credible opposition.

Apparently the only opinion poll was commissioned by the Referendum Commission for "research" so presumably won't be available to the public any time soon. Apparently none of the papers or tv commissioned an exit poll, so we'll have to wait for the count. Seems odd to me that none of the media organisations were bothered enough

VoteNONO · 08/03/2024 23:43

There was always exit polls? It seems odd. I follow Gavin Reilly & I saw he tweeted a few mins ago that he's feeling less optimistic for the No vote.. I wonder what led him to feel like that as he was fierce optimistic a few hours ago..
