I've done this before but I think it's nice to compile a list of Irish online shops before Christmas. Nice to give our money to Irish business.
I'll go first.
www.mishnoc.com for beautiful leather goods.
www.cauldrongifts.ie for cool candles and occult stuff.
https://burrenperfumery.com/ for beautiful skincare and perfume.

Love the mention of nimble fingers! I'm 42 but I remember as a child going to Nimble Fingers in Stillorgan.

I'm 47 but also loved nearby and used to go there. Such a legendary shop!

Brooke and Shoals have a 20% discount promotion online at the moment because they won The Best Gift Award 2023 in the Irish Country Magazine Irish Made Awards.
The code is BESTGIFT

I have no affiliation with the company, I just love their candles. In particular the Sandalwood one and the Sweet Pea and Tea Rose one.

Thanks for all these lovely recs!

I’m marking my spot as I’m in the US but would love to have nice Irish options for sending gifts to my sisters!

MissyB1 · 05/11/2023 17:20

Can anyone recommend an Irish food website that would deliver to UK?

CliffsofMohair · 05/11/2023 17:35

I have used The Paddy Box for overseas hampers to U.K./Aus. Taytos, biscuits etc.

@Vestito thanks for these links. You must be local to my Dad - one of those is in his village! I didn't know they were online so thanks.

Just seen www.topoftheclassgame.ie
It's a board game made in Ireland.

And one for the road.
If you're in Dublin, Rhinestones on Wicklow Street is like a little, magical jewellery box. I think most Dubliners know about it but for anyone else who doesn't.

So I'm looking suggestion,

I need to get little jewellery/trinket boxes for neighbours grandchildren but I don't really want to go over €20 each.

Any suggestions?

I love Rhinestones ❤️

So I posted a pair of Shetland gloves to a friend in Dublin from the UK. They were well under the customs limit so I thought grand. Usually I buy from online stores at home in Ireland but I wanted to send her something from my current neck of the woods.

Tracking it, I saw that it was held up at customs in Dublin and that there was a charge which my friend then paid for delivery.

When I queried the charge with An Post they told me that the cost of posting from the UK was included in the valuation of the parcel thus tipping it over the customs limit. I had no idea this was the case. Back to online ordering in Ireland!

I just wanted to thank you so much for this thread, I just ordered a gift for my relative who is impossible to buy for. Thanks a lot!

I'd read that when the item itself is made in the UK (eg Shetland gloves I assume) then there is no customs charge (as opposed to buying something made elsewhere from a UK site, when there is s charge). Has this changed or did I just have it wrong?

I never even thought to mention something like that. I'd indicated that the gloves were made in the UK on the form but the issue seemed to be the overall cost.

Frustrating!

@LadyEloise1 @Vestito

Both Brooke & Shoals candles and Vivien O"Malley ceramics went down brilliantly at Xmas, thanks for the tips!

LadyEloise1 · 11/01/2024 18:54
