Hi , myself and 3 DC'S (M) are heading to Dublin in July .

Last time we were there they were alot younger and we stayed at Jurry's Inn , Parnell Street .
(In my head ,,at the top of the long road )

My sense of directions and visualisation of distance is terrible .

Anyhow ,,,,this trip will be different ... alcohol will be legal !

Planning on being more down the Temple Bar area..or near.
Any suggestions ?

One that does have a good deal is the Braseford Hotel (sp ...can't go back to link to check as I will loose this post ..near/on Stoar Street )

So confused about what to book .
Thank you .

Have you looked at The Moxy? Very central. I also like The Dean but have only been in the Cork one.

I agree with @magicstar1
Stay south.
Be alert.
There is anti social behaviour along the quays and I personally wouldn't go along the Boardwalk at the river.

Yes, as a Dubliner who now lives in an adjacent county, I stay in hotels in the city with my teens fairly regularly.

Drury Court is a great location and I can recommend it. Aircoach will drop you about 10 mins (pleasant) walk from Drury court on Kildare Street, where you can walk around the North stretch of St. Stephen's green, passing the lovely Shelbourne hotel and then the Gaiety Thestre before turning right and Drury Court is on the left (nearly opp the Hairy Lemon pub-great pub). There is a Lidl about 2mins away to go buy some bottles of water for the room and snacks or the Irish supermarket Dunnes in Steohen's green centre.

Loads of great bars and things within a few minutes walk. Aungier Street and Wexford Street are great for teens/20 somethings as there are several 3rd level colleges nearby.

I echo all comments about avoid the Boardwalk/O'Connell St area in the evening time, especially as you need to be hyper vigilant which is hard as a tourist.

The Camden Court is worth a look too.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply and help me .
I have booked the appartment at Drury court.

I was concerned because it was a pay in advance sort of thing .....but ....
I can see anything else that would work .

I signed up for their e mail thing to get 10% discount
It did not come through but the lady gave me the discount anyway !

2 bed apartment /5 nights =£1120.

Very happy .
Flights booked as well .
Thank you all so much x

We're just back and stayed at The Gresham on Upper O'connell St, very central and walking distance to everything. Plenty buses, trams and taxis.

What's The Gresham like? I haven't stayed there since 1984.

I stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn this weekend as we were going to the 3 Arena, it was ideal for us.

It's owned by the Riu group now, it was nice, breakfast is excellent, daily housekeeping, lovely bar area, lots of helpful staff.

Just a mention for those no longer in the teen years - the areas around Dawson, Sth Anne, and Sth William streets are great. AVOID Temple Bar please, or just go for one or two drinks. It is absolutely not indicative of Dublin as the locals/natives know it.

I agree to avoid the Quays and stick to South of the river, you can't go wrong. Do take the DART train out to Killiney or Bray, sit on the LHS for spectacular views of the bay and Bono's house LOL.

Natives like myself take day trips on the DART to Malahide (gorgeous), Howth, Dalkey, Killiney. Parking is a mare and very expensive too. Public transport is your friend.

Hope anyone going to Dublin has a lovely time. Avoid the tourist traps and you will have a ball. Glad you got sorted with accommodation OP, you picked a great spot.

Thanks for that, I often see very good offers for it and wondered what it's like.

The Gresham was one of the first ones I looked at .
It had good deals with BA flights and breakfast .

@Myee , thank you for the extra tips .
We were looking at somewhere to go
"out" of the city for a day.
I will look them up .

I agree with Myee.
Avoid Temple Bar ( if you can ).
Take the DART to Dun Laoghaire and walk the East Pier if it's a nice day. You can get delicious fish or scampi and chips on the pier, followed by a Teddy's icecream.
Powerscourt in Enniskerry, Wicklow is another lovely day trip.
Enjoy.

Newgrange , glendalough, Howth , killiney hill and dalkey village

I'd avoid temple bar at night but elepanh and castle is a nice lunch brunch place
