Thinking of Christmas and wanting to promote Buy Irish, what Irish businesses would you recommend? My recommendation is www.beautyskincare.ie Great products and based in Bray. They send out little samples with their orders.

Oh, good thread. Could anyone recommend an Irish hamper company who will deliver to Paris? I know they exist, but a quick Google doesn't suggest the produce in them is anything that good, and the friends I want to send it to are foodies.

I’m not sure how many deliver outside Ireland but I’m pretty sure DM ordered from Tom Durcan last year for delivery to England. Sadly one arrived and one didn’t, though it wasn’t his fault and he refunded without quibble and was super apologetic.

wooden heart for wooden toys. It’s my favourite shop to visit in Galway.

applefarm in Tipperary - their juices and ciders are fantastic but they only sell in cases of 12 and similar. One to consider if you were splitting between hampers.

Generosa for home decor. Quick delivery and great customer service.

Alan Hanna’s for books. The website is a clunker but he has gone above and beyond for me on many occasions.

Louis Copeland for high end men’s clothes. Not one I’d normally think to recommend but they excel at customer service.

Great small business that sources sustainable products made in Ireland. I now use cream deodorant because of these guys!

Technically NI rather than RoI, I bought mugs for my DB from Mud last Christmas and they were lovely. www.mudireland.com

The Irish Daily Mail has an 8 page pull out on 130 Irish companies today - under a Buy Irish -Shop Irish banner.
It might be helpful.

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no connection to the Daily Mail / Irish Daily Mail.

I love the idea of buying local to help the Irish economy and Irish people.
I abhor tax exiles. Just saying.

PleasantBirthday · 26/11/2021 09:31

I agree with you, local suppliers and small businesses really are the economic lifeblood of most of Ireland and they do make interesting and innovative products that are different to what you can get in every other international shop in the shopping centres and retail parks.

Everyone can buy something in any of those shops, most people have enough money to do that now. Finding something new and different makes a nicer present, I think.
