Made it to the beach yesterday but the forecast is atrocious for next few days. 2 adults, 2 kids under 5, have car! All ideas considered!

How West are you? Fota Wildlife?

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 01/08/2016 14:04

How West are you?

Next stop America... We're down by the Mizen. Did Fota last year!

Are you near Bantry? Bantry House is beautiful

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 01/08/2016 14:39

I think Bantry may be destination of choice tomorrow. It is absolutely lashing down! Hasn't let up all day.

Second Bantry. Otherwise beer and Monopoly.

middlings · 01/08/2016 15:03

I know wet sand is the devil's own work but would you not still go to the beach? Wellies and macs?? We did.

Sounds like a day for a drive and lunch somewhere though...

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 01/08/2016 15:40

Couldn't face it today middling - we did however drive to Schull (both kids fell asleep and it rained even harder Grin - at least the crepe place is open again this year so we've added to the to-do list) so we decided against getting out and drove back again, haha! Eating chips and drinking a pint overlooking the beach and the 4 hardy souls I can see "enjoying" the weather!

Clonakilty the model railway village.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 01/08/2016 15:43

Granny has volunteered to mind the children so we can go for more drink tonight. Honestly when I was small and medium we came to the same place I remember always being in the pub but my two can't be kept occupied long enough for us to do that. There were a load more of us kids here though so I guess we minded ourselves

Not sure where the "medium" came from in to post above!

wobblywonderwoman · 01/08/2016 15:51

Weather warnings on the radio.. Pub for sure

FrinkadelicA12 · 01/08/2016 15:51

I know is a bit of a hike from mizen but there is a lovely play centre in Skibb. Just off the access road on the schull side. It's called the treehouse and is great particularly for your age group. We passed a v wet morning there a few weeks ago!

creamoftomato · 01/08/2016 15:54

God not the model railway museum. Anything but that. Pub of course!

Stevefromstevenage · 01/08/2016 15:56

Aw I love the model railway. Well I don't really but the kids seem to knock an hour out of it and I love that. Grin

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 01/08/2016 16:02

Saw signs for treehouse! Hadn't realised that's what it was. Excellent! That will earn us 10 pints!

The Skibb library has a lovely children's section too

middlings · 01/08/2016 16:13

In fairness, Brittas was abandoned last week as I couldn't face it in the rain.

Awww the joy of an Irish holiday Grin Shamrock

The ewe experience is worth a trip - strange but brilliant www.theewe.com/

Also worth a look is a boat to Garinish Island
