am very excited about this so thought we should introduce ourselves, I'm Irish, living in the UK for 20 years and have 3 DC. Travel to Ireland frequently as we have a holiday home in the southwest.
Currently worried about Brexit implications as DS 2 17wants to study in Ireland at third level.

Dublin dweller here but culchie originally. Lived in London many years ago and miss it everyday. Have many friends and clients still there, felt Brexit as a personal loss almost and wish it would just go away

DocMcFanjo · 21/07/2016 07:19

SkyLucy · 21/07/2016 08:18

AhJaysusHowaya · 21/07/2016 23:22

I've never heard of Fifteens until now. They sound a bit nice!

I'd love a load of meanies and a fifteen now. This thread is making me hungry

passportmess · 21/07/2016 23:28

Dubliner, have lived in Scotland for the past 10 years. Haven't been home in 8 years. Virtually all my family have emigrated including my parents. I like the UK and Scotland in particular.

Capricornandproud · 22/07/2016 23:15

Well how's the form tonight all? Delighted we have this wee bit of the mumsnet world for ourselves and what a class name! Logging on from Enniskillen, Fermanagh here, one eye on the phone and t'other on the Late Late 👌🏻😃

CoolioAndTheGang · 25/07/2016 00:26

Woohoo! I've just found ye! Absolutely panned after the weekend so off to bed now but loving the fact that we have our own board Smile

WorraLiberty · 25/07/2016 00:36

Born and raised in England but both of my parents are from Cork. Well I say are but my lovely Mum passed away 13 years ago, on St Patrick's day of all days.

Anyway, it's strange that I should spot this thread in Active Convos today, because I spent the afternoon with family at O'Grady's Irish bar in Ilford, Essex and treated my Dad to a carvery while we watched the Gaelic football on a big screen > Grin

lilacclery · 25/07/2016 05:58

Glamorousglitter · 27/07/2016 15:59

Leirope · 27/07/2016 16:02

Great thread!

Belfast girl, living in London for nearly a decade now. Just had DS who despite having a ridiculously Greek name is actually 3/4 Irish! Any tips on making sure he stays in touch with his roots? Already making an Irish passport application as we speak...

BlueLeopard · 27/07/2016 16:08

Leirope, feed him taytos and binge-watch Fr Ted Wink

greedygorb · 27/07/2016 16:27

Woohoo. I'm just back from holiday and discovered this now. I'm from Co. Derry but have lived in Scotland for the last 20 years. Go home only once a year now to spend a fortnight being overfed by multiple relations.

vvviola · 27/07/2016 19:33

Lierope, add Moone Boy to the watching list too Grin

CiaoVerona · 02/08/2016 17:56

Mytrustybucket1 · 18/08/2016 07:27

Hi all! Can't believe how sentimental I'm getting just reading the various threads here . Dublin dad, Continental mum, now sadly both gone.
Have lived on the Continent now way longer than I ever lived in Ireland/ West Cork, but having spent my "formative years" there, it's home still! In fact, although no family left there, am currently fixing up the old abode (yes, white bungalow from the 70s as mentioned in another thread) and am hoping to spend more time there in future. Son only 1/4 Irish but he has the gift of the gab and a strange fondness for salt 'n' vinegar crisps and sausage rolls! Just like his mammy... Grin

evelynj · 18/08/2016 21:41

Hello! I've just noticed this topic is what the taste thread has been on! Flip sake.

I'm norn iron born & bred, was in Manc for 20 years & home again to Co ANTRIM 3 years now & love it!

MelanieCheeks · 22/08/2016 07:28

Bout ye! Born in "stroke city", now living just outside Belfast.

My Mum used to make fifteens into a roll in greaseproof paper, and then cut round slices off them.
