@ArmDimples on the contrary l don't think you are selfish and entitled one bit sweetheart.
You have so much on your hands something has to give and if having a cleaner helps you as a family then so be it . @ChipshopPickledEgg is right it helps to keep in top of it all . Don't you feel bad at all .l think blinking good for you !
I hope she is ok and is back this week for you all 🙏🤗.

Thanks @DirtyGertiefromno30, I’ll take a look. I’ve got an alternative brand I use a lot too, so will likely peruse their site also.

Just bought a few bits from Hush, but I won’t update those spends until I know what I’m going to keep or not.

@ArmDimples - I love my cleaners more than DH, true fact. He knows this and is under no illusion this will ever change. I look like a scruff most of the time but my house is spotless 😊

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/03/2026 17:31

I think it’s relative to the situation. My cleaner is a life line for me and always in the budget. Therapy is more expensive than she is… just saying
I think more quite tight gym gear should always go back. It’s a pita wearing it if it isn’t
I love sweaty betty bottoms & gymshark vests.
lasts ages too

nsd today. More vinted items listed

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/03/2026 17:31

Oh and happy st David’s day

Frugal25 · 01/03/2026 18:20

Before I reply to everyone I just want to brag about my NSD as it's been weeks since my last!

Regarding cleaners. My first was amazing but unreliable and had a lot of drama so I changed her. The next two were adorable and reliable but I do a better job myself. So I gave up tbh. When I've got this year out of the way I shall revisit as a cleaner would just give me so much time back...
@ChipshopPickledEggyour post made me howl with laughter, I found a brownie maker two weeks ago and told myself that if I don't use it in the next month it's gone. So I used it. And it's now back to the cupboard of doom poor thing. My DD is the same with sleep, always slept well but recently waking early and like yours, it's game over. Sigh. Same age arent they? 4/coming up to 4?
@DirtyGertiefromno30 ok I need to know where you got your rabbits from. They are beautiful!!!!
I've thrown bits out this week too. A couple of bananas and some kiwis. Always makes me cross.
@ArmDimples
Sorry about your mortgage. Mine did the same recently and it does sting.
@lifelongfrugaleer wow on your vinted! Amazing!

Builders arrived tomorrow for kitchen ceiling so shall clear kitchen tonight and put in the dining room ready. Will WFH most of this week and go in Friday so I can keep an eye (not that they need it, these guys are amazing)

RumBananaSundae · 01/03/2026 18:29

Evening. I fell off the thread and very sorry for not tagging people. I hope you’re All doing as well as you can.

Had a rough week. Work, legal, rehab, spending and ‘other’. Thank you for the input on the email/group situation. I have been issued with an ultimatum re my response to them. It’s ridiculous and yes you’ve probably guessed the organisation. Will leave that there.

Hoping for a new start tomorrow with the spending and rehab. No need to meal plan as not feeling too well last week meant last weeks suppers are in the freezer. I did get two running tops in the Marks and Spencer sale but was a bit disappointed they didn’t have any leggings in my size. I saw a jacket I liked but by the time I’d decided to get it it was sold so I saved myself £50.

Happy St David’s Day. And your daffodils are lovely @DirtyGertiefromno30.

Johaanah · 01/03/2026 19:46

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/03/2026 13:45

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Happy St Davids Day 🤗
Been shopping today ,
Home Bargains £19
Tesco £65
Farm foods £12
I cleaned both fridge freezers before l went and got rid of the old food . I am going to give myself a good talking to . I threw out a coleslaw and 4 soups that was £7.59 wasted.
I ought to be ashamed of myself.
No more soups or coleslaws.
l am fed up to my back teeth of them being left .
My own fault l need to take stock more often . I was in it more when l cleaned the fridge freezers every week but l haven't the past fortnight and that's got to stop 🙄
Hope everyone is ok.
Weather is pants here but hey ho. Tis what it is 🤗

Happy St David’s day to you @DirtyGertiefromno30 - do you speak Welsh? I’m also a nightmare for not eating coleslaw and potato salad- but if I don’t buy it you can guarantee I’ll want it!

Today Dh and I took a look at a street market that happens on the first Sunday of each month, lots of lovely things for sale but I didn’t indulge in anything, there was a cake stall with delicious looking baked goods, but at £4.50 for a slice of old fashioned school cake I declined and came home and made a whole traybake for less. My total spend was £1 on a bottle of water, plus three direct debits came out of my account overnight , yesterday I spent a tenner on lunch, £8 in the bakers and £48 on a duvet cover for dd2 - replacing one that had seen better days, I took this from a Monzo pot I have for household items.

I think I had five NSD’s last week Mon-Fri as I didn’t go out at all, only to pick dd up from school, and zero online purchases. I’m not sure if I mentioned previously but Dh took a hefty pay cut last year, however, with very careful spending I’ve managed to keep outgoings low so we haven’t noticed it yet, my spending cut has been quite brutal, but I’m no less content than I was before. So I’m happy about that, it’s taken me 30 years of adulthood to get here but I’m hoping that I’ve finally cracked the spending for enjoyment issue.

This month I’m going to keep a log of NSD’s and do a little monthly roundup in my planner, just to keep me motivated.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/03/2026 20:03

@RumBananaSundae good to see you and please don't ever worry about falling off the thread it something we all do 🤗. Sorry you have had a rough week bless you . Glad you got some exercise stuff from The Marks sale my Dd2 thought it was really good . I can't imagine the group you are being treated so badly by but it's not you , no matter what is said , churlish beggars that they are 😱. Thank you for the St David's wishes and the Daffodil love they are from our garden , they have flipped in the wind so DH bought them in bless him 🤗
@Frugal25 aw thank you re the rabbit/hare love , l bought them many moons ago from Argos of all places . I just had a look now but none left but they were garden ornaments and l just loved them ❤️.
Have a look at the Winstanley rabbits they are gorgeous but expensive ❤️ l would love them but l can't justify the cost.
Fabulous news re the kitchen ceiling yay! 😁

Same here with the cleaners - 2 of them for an hour every fortnight. I missed them over Christmas. I do a weekend of tidying etc the day before they come so it gives me a kick up the rear to put everything away properly. I've think I might have to keep working in some capacity when I retire to keep paying them!

Almost a NSD gave DD £15 to go out with her friend but that comes from another budget.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 01/03/2026 20:19

I haven't left the house today and have managed a nsd. Go figure!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/03/2026 20:50

Hope you get some success at M&S @needastrongone 🤞
@Johaanah thank you 😁
No l don't speak Welsh l only wish l did , l recognise a little written text but l can't understand the spoken word the Welsh speakers talk too quickly for me 🤣
Well done on your NSDs this week, l love new duvet covers they are my passion 😁❤️
I think you were very brave taking that cut in your Dh's pay last year and l am so proud of you, l know l don't know you to say that really but you have been amazing doing that . I am so glad it all worked out bless you all ❤️.

@Rainbow1901 - for some reason I didn’t realise you could pay for a council collection of items. That’s useful info. It makes total sense, I just stupidly hadn’t thought about it. Glad you posted!

We’ve had an insanely expensive few days, so I’m going to have to rein it in for the next couple of weeks. Nothing that wasn’t expected, just it’s all come at once and I get a bit of anxiety seeing the money drain out all at the same time, particularly at the start of the month. We’ve no further plans for the next week or so, so hopefully equilibrium will be restored.

It’s a lovely day here so hopefully a gentle walk or a bit of tidying up of the garden in order.

Have a super day folks.

@needastrongone It is great for getting rid of the big stuff when you don't have a car or van to get to the local tip. In our area you can have up to four items for £15.70 but if it's a washing machine or similar white goods it's that amount per item. But it is a useful service to have - at least it won't get fly-tipped and gets disposed of properly.

Frugal25 · 01/03/2026 22:33

Forgot to say earlier happy st David's day!!
Shall look at hares/rabbits :)
@RumBananaSundae I'm so sorry you've had a rubbish week. Tomorrow is a fresh start. Head high and smile. Day off Tuesday too. Unsure of the organisation but they sounds blinking awful and you're too good for them. Sending hugs and love xxx

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/03/2026 07:40

Frugal25 · 02/03/2026 10:41

Oh thank you so much @DirtyGertiefromno30these are just gorgeous aren't they!!! Have added to my wish list 😄

ChipshopPickledEgg · 02/03/2026 11:07

We've got a couple of bits of a similar nature in our garden I love them through the patio door.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 02/03/2026 11:40

@lifelongfrugaleer
Good luck today Bab!
Remember mistakes are "doing things differently"

Frugal25 · 02/03/2026 14:54

Oohhh I'm jealous of you now @ChipshopPickledEgg. Me need some hares!!!

£4.70 on sandwiches from the corner shop as I made lunch for me and DD but it's in the fridge being held hostage by the builders in the kitchen. Sarnies were disgusting tbh. I made a small kitchen area in the dining room to ensure we still have tea and coffee so need to plan better for the next few days for lunch too. Work will be going on for longer than expected due to an issue they found, but they are so professional and calm, there is nothing to worry about. It's very much "we found this. Leave with us although it will take two more days" and they just crack on. I have fallen on my feet with these guys.
How gorgeous is the weather today?! I so want to get outside rather than work. Roll on tomorrow when I plan to redo my hanging baskets.

BigSkies2022 · 02/03/2026 16:42

£38 in Waitrose on Saturday. Then £12 in Sainsbury’s on wine, tsk, tsk.

personal spends: £135 on a cabin bag/day backpack for up coming trip. It’s from Antler and it’s a pretty thing, but still practical- I need an upgrade from the dog walking one I use generally. And a further £30 on zip pouches of different sizes for easy access for stuff.

£10 on Sky Cinema voucher as DH wanted to watch Nuremberg. I didn’t think it all that, but the voucher is good for a month, so might grab something else.

£27 in ALDI, £72 in Sainsbury’s today- should see us through the week, apart from chicken from the butcher.

£58 in dry cleaners, assorted cleaning and mending.

Have broken the back of stripping the giant clematis off the fence - a two person job requiring a ladder, saws, sécateurs, much sweating and grunting. Not for the first time, I began to think the pleasure of gardening very overrated.

DDog has been vomiting a lot, luckily on the hard floors. I think he’s having a reaction to the Plaque off dental treatment. He seems fine otherwise! We have his booster appointment tomorrow so I can check him out.

RumBananaSundae · 02/03/2026 17:45

Spent £28 or so (annoyingly they don’t give receipts) in Gail’s and about £6 off my Waitrose gift card.

Thank you @DirtyGertiefromno30. How was your mum today?

That’s rather reasonable of your council @Rainbow1901 ours is £47.

Thank you @Frugal25. Glad the work is going ok.

Hope your first day back was ok @lifelongfrugaleer. Delete and I became most familiar when I went back after my leaves.

Hope the dog is ok @BigSkies2022 and well done on the clematis.

No plans for tomorrow. I have some legal bits to do. I was planning a jaunt into town but am now meeting a friend on Wednesday so will go then instead. It is meant to be warm(er) and sunny so am looking forward to it. Think I’ll wear my new jacket. Should do a gift card audit too.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/03/2026 18:02

Work was fine. Did 2 hours with an hour break between.
delete is quite cathartic

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 02/03/2026 19:06

Oh brilliant ! l am so glad everything went well for you @lifelongfrugaleer 😁
Been thinking about you thanks for letting us know 👏🤗
