Quick update
£89 Lidl - noticed several price increases. Got a few freebies from the bakery at least.
£22.49 Amazon supplements
£19.87 Amazon household items

@Frugal25 that's so nice of your OH, hope you get a new watch soon

Good news on the Vinted sales.

BigSkies2022 · 26/02/2026 08:32

Ended up spending £34 in Sainsbury’s yesterday- DS wanted some bits, I added some others. £46 for dog food subscription. So we’ve gone into overdraft by £24 on the joint account, but given we’ve paid for a dishwasher, a dishwasher engineer call-out and dog kennelling on top of our usual bills this month, that’s ok. Top up tomorrow, nice short month!

NursieBernard · 26/02/2026 08:56

Morning lovely frugal people

I haven't posted or been reading over the past couple of days as grief has had a strong hold over me. I have been walking, walking and more walking to try and ease the turmoil. Luckily I live in a village on the edge of the moor so it is easy to escape to solitude.

I did have to take the car for its MOT and it passed, so only £54 spent. Otherwise its been a very low spend week.

I did buy 6 tins of Azera coffee last night on Amazon as it worked out to £3.70 each for the 140g larger tin. This is the only instant coffee I drink so I thought I would grab them whilst they were cheap. It has put me £16.99 over budget for groceries this month, but, I will even it out over the next couple of months.

I hope everyone has a lovely day

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/02/2026 08:58

Price per wear need. It’s an investment
that’s great you are only £24 down after all that.
payday for me tomoz.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 26/02/2026 09:35

Make sure you also add
"I hope this email finds you well" no I don't I hope you've got hedgehog shits.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 26/02/2026 09:36

It's my cars first MOT this June I am dreading it already!

ChipshopPickledEgg · 26/02/2026 09:38

@NursieBernard truly that's one of my favourite things about financial security being able to buy the "investment" sizes of things to save money overall.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 26/02/2026 10:08

Good morning everyone 😁
Been on the M&S sale and spent £117 on presents for DH and my friends .
Great stuff on there .
Not spending anything else hopefully.
Have a lovely day everyone 😊

Morning lovely lot! Blowy and dry here so washing on the line billowing about.
Oh @NursieBernard. I did wonder if you would be ok after the funeral. So glad you are going on walks and have such a beautiful area to walk in. Sending love. Xx
Hedgehog shits made me giggle out loud @ChipshopPickledEgg!
I noticed price increases in Lidl also @Lockin26. But also got free bakery items. Which I ate. So therefore I've scuppered my no snacks lent thing. Argh.
£108 in Lidl down to £95 with deals and 10% off.
£10.55 for swimming but had to change it to next week as DD has started to be unwell.
£28 for gymnastics for the month for DD
£28 for window cleaner.
Do need to pop to eco friendly cabin to stock up on cleaning bits but hopefully no more than £10.

Holidaysandchocolate · 26/02/2026 10:55

I’ve fallen off posting but have been reading along with the thread.

I got the job that I interviewed for a couple of weeks ago. This will start in a couple of weeks time. I also started my other job that I’d already got this week, I was so tired at the end of the days 😂 The two jobs should work well together, which is a bonus.

I got a payslip this month for the new job, which puzzled me as not due any wages until next month. I’m getting a very nice tax refund through payroll, which is great as I thought I’d have to tackle Hmrc to get it!

Rainbow I’m about to join you on tackling emptying a room as I need some office space for working from home. We have so much stuff!

Sold a couple of bits on eBay which is also helping the bank balance. Need to buy a desk to work at though.

Holidaysandchocolate · 26/02/2026 10:57

Big hugs to you nursie

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 26/02/2026 13:25

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/02/2026 15:40

Congratulations on the job & tax refund
discovered I’ve been nominated for an award for work I did before December. Once the tax man get his chunk I’ll have £260 ish to spend

DS needs a bike service. He’s cost me £150 ish so far today
£58 Aldi DM took me

edited to add got my free bus pass today & disabled railcard. Gotta be done perks to this nonsense

Lockin26 · 26/02/2026 23:00

@Frugal25 my washing also billowing around when I left the house, when I got in it was lovely and soft. Hope DD feels better soon.

Congratulations on the nomination @lifelongfrugaleer

also congrats on the new job @Holidaysandchocolate and also the tax relief!

We are limping through half term as DD still not 100%. Managed the dentist today and an exchange in Primark. Watched TV with DD on the sofa all night and joked with her that we've had some real bonding time this week despite the illness. I also added some more info into the POA forms. Will likely pay for health and welfare this month and and finance and property next. Print them off at work and get them signed and sent off. Then it's done by the end of the financial year. Cancelled DDs gym membership, she hasn't been for months. Too many people from her year group go now apparently. She does a sports activity twice per week plus lots of walking. £22.50 pm saved.

£10 Primark from my clothes budget
£28 dentists, mostly from a budget pot..
Monzo seems to be rounding up and putting into the slush pot I made, will keep going with that.
Also £6.67 Boots

ChipshopPickledEgg · 27/02/2026 06:39

Right payday.
Did go off the rails a bit this month but ended in the black which is a positive. My mum used to say a good month is when you have a pound more than you need.
Few bigger bills coming up over the next quarter so created pots for each of these.
Gained a whole £1.70 on my cashback credit card this month 😆 I don't really use it much to be honest. Probably should really. Every penny counts!

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/02/2026 07:22

Payday here too sainsbo £110
out for lunch today too will see how much that becomes

Alwaysploddingon · 27/02/2026 08:22

Payday here too. 😊

Lockin26 · 27/02/2026 08:28

Payday here too! Off to Costco and lunch with spendy friend but she's on a budget now too 🤞 I have a list of essentials for Costco.

Will do Monzo pots and savings later.

Rainbow1901 · 27/02/2026 09:15

Pay Day for me too. Money moved as around as per usual. Got a few expenses coming up in March so it feels like it will be a long month but we will see some old debts drop off as the days go by. £3 has been paid from Vinted so maybe that will pick up as I post more items.
I'm already on with the bedroom project - I want to de-clutter and throw stuff before we move into the other bedroom. Seeing the areas that have been cleared make me realise that I actually really like the tidy minimalist look so may well de-clutter and ditch even more stuff when we move back in after decorating.
The difficulty is actually getting the stuff out of the house so we have more room to move around so can't wait for the furniture charity van to come next week and will drop some boxes and bags at another charity shop later today. During my efforts yesterday I found a book on de-cluttering!! 😅

BigSkies2022 · 27/02/2026 13:19

A cleared cupboard/ drawer/room/house is a beautiful thing. My style aspiration is the Conrad book Plain, Simple, Useful.

Happy, spenny morning! £60 on magnesium supplements (about 6 months supply) at DS’ request, as his sleep isn’t great and he’s tried melatonin. I think he could improve his sleep hygiene and put the screens away earlier but he prefers his way, which will include anti- blue light glasses.

£25 on handcream and nail polish from chichi cosmetics shop- gift for very kind friend as the gardening graft gets underway. £11 on three empanadas for me and DS to share for lunch. £11 on rare purchase of a paper edition of The Economist for DS - DH subscribed for years, and we read every word , then he moved to digital edition and we read less and less, and eventually cancelled all but the weekly headline newsletter. But this week’s edition is pertinent to DS’ current job search, so I splashed out. Print media very expensive these days!
£5 in butcher for chorizo for dinner tonight.
Collected books from library.

Plan to tidy front garden, clean floors and straighten house out for the weekend, then luxuriate with my library haul. Have a good Friday, everyone!
