I’d say anyone over a 150 or so.

ParisianLady · 26/01/2026 13:52

For me it would be someone earning over £130k, and in a couple where combined they are over £210k ish.

Alpacajigsaw · 26/01/2026 13:53

£100k

zipadeeday · 26/01/2026 13:54

150k here too

HippeePrincess · 26/01/2026 13:55

80/100k I think depending on location?

CandiedPrincess · 26/01/2026 13:55

Over £100k.

Orangemintcream · 26/01/2026 13:56

Probably 100k and above.

I think you can be “well off” and not a high earner though. Just depends on your location and life choices etc.

People who earn above the national average are good earners but not 100k I wouldn’t necessarily call them high earners but they certainly earn “well”.

Starlingsoon · 26/01/2026 13:58

Depends where you live. Some parts of London >£500k. Some parts of Scotland >£50k.

Travellingatthespeedoflight · 26/01/2026 14:03

150k. 100k really isn’t a high earner in most parts of the SE and London.

Changedmynameagain20 · 26/01/2026 14:19

120k I would say.

SuperGinger · 26/01/2026 14:22

Over 500k

RudolphTheReindeer · 26/01/2026 14:23

Crikey, I was going to say anything over 45k!

PinterandPirandello · 26/01/2026 14:23

Over £200k London, about £120k elsewhere.

WednesdayAllTheWay · 26/01/2026 14:24

£70k plus

CloakedInGucci · 26/01/2026 14:24

£80k is the top 5% nationally, so I don’t think it’s true to say that £100k isn’t high in the SE. The top 10% of London earners earn £98k.

organisedadmin · 26/01/2026 14:25

Only about 5% earn 100k plus so I think that makes them high earners.

kalokagathos · 26/01/2026 14:25

Over £150k in SE

organisedadmin · 26/01/2026 14:26

SuperGinger · 26/01/2026 14:22

Over 500k

Only about 25 thousand people earn that.

stargirl27 · 26/01/2026 14:27

180-200k in london

winterbluess · 26/01/2026 14:27

Really depends on location. DH earns over 100k and we live in a modest 3 bed with second hand car even though we're in the north. Can't see it getting much around london

stargirl27 · 26/01/2026 14:28

SuperGinger · 26/01/2026 14:22

Over 500k

what would you say is a low earner?

user2848502016 · 26/01/2026 14:28

Where I live around £60k but whole UK on average probably £100k

RosesAndHellebores · 26/01/2026 14:29

Someone who can easily fund their wants as well as their needs and have some left over.

chouxchoux · 26/01/2026 14:29

Personally, I think given the tax cliff edge that happens at £100k, really you're looking at £160k++ to actually be reaping the benefits of earning a high salary.

Tammygirl12 · 26/01/2026 14:30

£180k+
