Sainsbury's call them wild garlic something or other and kyiv instead of kiev (huh?) but even so, OUCH.

I hope they taste like spun gold.

He has ADHD and it wouldn't occur to him to look at the price. He tends to only study the price of extortionate gluten free food when he wants to whinge about prices (£3.60 loaves of bread - we have neither the space or reliable equipment to bake ourselves but mostly I just don't have storage for more stuff).

Anyway, even I wouldn't dream of two kievs being more than four quid and I probably wouldn't have looked at the price myself. I know they were £2 in 2020, it was the peak of my kiev eating frenzy.

(I prefer schnitzel these days)

Have you had any nasty shocks yourself lately?

Costco do the best ones I've tried. Not super cheap (£15ish for 6/8) but they're a proper chicken breast with loads of garlic butter and the breading is really nice. My favourite trick is to use some sourdough under the Kyiv whilst cooking and it'll soak up the garlic butter meaning you don't lose it to the oven tray and have a lovely side of garlic bread.

I was just coming on to post about the trick of putting a slice of bread underneath - I read that on here!

I love a kyiv but I'm not keen on the wild garlic ones either. I get you OP but why does everything have to be put down to ADHD these days??

Kyiv is the Ukrainian spelling of the city. Kiev is the Russian occupier name. Why would you prefer the name to be the one given by a country’s oppressor to the one given by its residents?

£6 for two pre-made, convenience food main items containing meat seems reasonable.

I make my own, it's cheaper and they are absolutely delicious! The key is to make the garlic and tarragon butter the day before and freeze overnight.

Kyiv is the Ukrainian translation whereas Kiev is translated from the Russian alphabet so given the situation most are trying to use the Ukrainian version where possible.

Ignore that I didn't see the username.

I make little tinfoil baskets for my kyivs to sit in (a piece of foil a bit larger than it with all four edges folded up by about an inch) which means that once you've plated up the cooked item you can carefully pick up the foil basket and pour the remaining garlic butter over the top of it so none's wasted.
