I'm never buying one again. I cannot waste my money.

If it's a government plan to encourage healthy eating, I think it works.

This last quarter prices have really tipped upwards again. What insane prices have you seen?

Is that for one flake or a pack of 4 that have shrunk? X

It's not just that, the chocolate bars are shrinking! You're paying more money for less chocolate.

Devilsmommy · 19/07/2025 10:06

£1.65 for a king size twix. Fucking robbery

bluecrochetedplane · 19/07/2025 10:07

I miss the old Tesco deal of 3 for £1.20 on choc/sweets.

Magnir · 19/07/2025 10:12

I like those Rittersport bars, they used to be £1 in Waitrose, they are now about £1.90.

A multipack of popular bars which often seems to be 3 rather than 4 is nearly £2, they used to be £1 on offer.

I’d love to know how the inflation figures are so low if they’re including food. I would fricking love my food bill to have gone up by 10% - it’s more like 50%.

Check in Poundland if you have one near you, I think they stock some of those.

BumblingBanana · 19/07/2025 10:15

I think we need a subsidy on chocolate.

Yes but then you can buy the pack of them for around the same amount.

And Poundland's not even a pound any more 🫠

It's getting ridiculous! The Sainsbury's near me were charging £1.50 for a solitary can of Diet Coke. I was horrified until I went in a different Sainsbury's and saw they're selling them for £1.60!!!

You're grateful to get a bar of chocolate for less than a quid now, and that's usually only possible with the Tesco clubcard "offers". Right now, I can only think of the limited edition Twix that's "on offer" for 90p.

And olive oil? Don't even get me started!

Everytime I enter a shop, I feel like I might as well be dancing down the aisles burning £20 notes.

I can't do economies of scale as I have no will power.

Can’t believe a bag of crisps is suddenly £1.20..

Usernamenotavailable19 · 19/07/2025 10:20

When I go to my local shop all the chocolate is at least £1.05 nothing under £1 anymore. Even when I buy my daughter a small back of buttons they are £1.05. Ridiculous

UnTrucDOeuf · 19/07/2025 10:23

But a whole pineapple for under a pound and a pink grapefruit for under 30p…
strange how some things are still cheap, especially a pineapple which would need a lot of transportation costs

BumblingBanana · 19/07/2025 10:26

It's Freddo's all the way now for me. No more Galaxy, definitely no more other posh ones.

Haha 99's are about £4.50 probably.

A flake is mostly air, so thats a ridiculous price!

shellyleppard · 19/07/2025 10:30

@BumblingBanana the way things keep going up I don't doubt it!!! The price of chocolate is ridiculous though. I've stopped eating it , £2.50 for a bar of dairy milk....no thanks

robinibor · 19/07/2025 10:30

I think it's good that chocolate bars are shrinking. I hate that I can't buy a normal sized packet of crisps in a meal deal they are all grab bags. Infact most shops don't even sell a regular sized packet of crisps!

IzzyHandsIsMySpiritAnimal · 19/07/2025 10:36

I read recently that coffee prices have risen because of recent poor harvests of the beans. The poor harvests are a result of a changing climate and so until we can work to find alternative strains of coffee and alternative growing areas then we are stuck with higher prices.
Apparently tea crops may also suffer. I wonder if the same is true for cocoa?
I noticed that a bar of chocolate I enjoy has now almost doubled in price since last year (was £1.80, now £3.40)

Seaside3 · 19/07/2025 10:40

I work in a bakery and the cost of chocolate has doubled in 18 months. Poor harvests due to environmental factors, pests, freight costs etc have affected it.
I cant see it coming down anytime soon, everyone will get used to paying the price, even if the crops improve next year.
