Can someone help me

This is the most embarrassing thing I've ever done. Please don't judge me, it's out of sheer desperation.

I cant get a loan anywhere, no credit card, nothing. I am part of my local credit union, but not eligible to apply with them as I have the family loan already

My landlord is selling his home. I need around 1.5k to move into a new home. UC can't help due to partners earnings. I just don't want to be made homeless with my 3 children

I've asked family, they can't help. I asked a friend who i have help with money in the past and was ignored. Which is fine if they can't help. I've even asked if people can take out a loan on my behalf and they said no

Can someone please help me, what do I do from here? Honestly it's affecting my mental health so much, I'm not sleeping, I'm not eating. It's making me just not want to be here because of the anxiety it's causing

Thank you for reading

As it's housing related, try your council locally, some used to loan deposits for private let's to prevent homelessness. Or they may do crisis loans. Also Shelter.

Don't be embarrassed. Lots of people are in ths position due to our fucked up housing system.

Do you live with your partner, so they are moving with you? What sort of company does he work for, is it a company that would do an employee loan? Could he get a wage advance? Do you earn, could you ask your employer?
Sorry, sounds stressful, no advice really. Have you spoken to Citizens advice to see if they have suggestions for alternatives where a loan might be possible?

Upsetbetty · 22/03/2025 16:28

Are you expecting a deposit back from your landlord/estate agent? Could you use that?

MamOf3x · 22/03/2025 16:34

I have contacted the council, it's just all the unknown. I've never been in this situation before so I'm over thinking everything. Like where will they put us etc I'm just so scared about what's about to come

Only until after we move out

I would check with your local council regarding support through an emergency loan or council housing, depending where you live.

If family can’t help financially, is there any possibility of staying with them temporarily?

Yeah partner will move with us. He could possibly ask his employer. Thanks for the advice

I think the kids dad is going to have to stump up for this one. Have you spoken to him about his kids potentially being homeless?

Upsetbetty · 22/03/2025 16:38

How long have you lived there, how well do you know the landlord? If they did an inspection before you left they may give you the deposit in order to let you move? Worth a shot?

OkayLetMeKnowHowItGoes · 22/03/2025 16:39

Can your partner take out a loan?

Cucy · 22/03/2025 16:39

How long do you have until the landlord sells up?

I would look at your contract and see if you have more notice than what he’s giving you to allow you time to save more.

Do you have anyone you can stay with for a couple of months to save up for the deposit?
Even if you and DH live in separate homes with a child or too each, perhaps at a parents or siblings home?
You’ll then get the deposit back on this home too.

We've got about 2 weeks before we need to be out. We've lived here 6 years. I don't really ever have much contact with him but been good tenants never missed a rent payment and looked after his home so could possible be a option thank you

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I really appreciate it

I think i just got myself abit flustered and panicked when typing this

I'm sure we will be able to work something out. I've never been in this situation before so I'm just really scared of the unknown, but I'm sure it will all work out. I just want a decent home for my children, but I suppose l can't be fussy in this situation x x

I’m sure the OP would do this if it were an option…we can’t assume unless told otherwise that they consider this a joint issue.

He's a great dad and does what he can to provide for our family. It's just with the cost of living, it's hard to just come by that kind of money when every penny we have goes on bills

You need advice from Shelter.

The standard advice is don't move out, wait to be evicted - but you must get advice from someone knowledgeable. They have a helpline.

Some agencies now use something called Reposit, which means that you pay a small fee and that provides a sort of insurance so you don't need a deposit. That would immediately halve the amount you need. It still means that you are responsible for any damage etc you do - just that you will be billed for it if you do any. I don't know exactly how it works other than that, but someone told me about it a couple of weeks ago.

cestlavielife · 22/03/2025 17:07

You and partner need to work this out together
You keep saying "I" but is is "we"
both of you together
If he works he can ask his employer for loan or advance
Council may have arrangements with certain private landlords

LumpyandBumps · 22/03/2025 17:18

Do you need the money for rent in advance, etc. for a new private rental?
If so I would ask your landlord if he can help.
I say this as a landlord. In his situation I would want to help someone move out quickly rather than have a potentially long and drawn out court battle if your only other option will be social housing.

Cucy · 22/03/2025 17:22

DenholmElliot11 · 22/03/2025 16:53

Brilliant! He can pay then.

I assume he does pay but they still can’t afford the deposit between them.

If they had more time they would be able to save more.

I assume they have both exhausted options for loans etc but OP was saying ‘I’ because it’s her thread.

It's so crazy some people believe that struggling mother, who can't afford deposit for rent (!) has some designer bags or jewellery... My bags are from Asda or Primark, I don't think it would help...
