Can someone help me

This is the most embarrassing thing I've ever done. Please don't judge me, it's out of sheer desperation.

I cant get a loan anywhere, no credit card, nothing. I am part of my local credit union, but not eligible to apply with them as I have the family loan already

My landlord is selling his home. I need around 1.5k to move into a new home. UC can't help due to partners earnings. I just don't want to be made homeless with my 3 children

I've asked family, they can't help. I asked a friend who i have help with money in the past and was ignored. Which is fine if they can't help. I've even asked if people can take out a loan on my behalf and they said no

Can someone please help me, what do I do from here? Honestly it's affecting my mental health so much, I'm not sleeping, I'm not eating. It's making me just not want to be here because of the anxiety it's causing

Thank you for reading

I havent read all the replies but you could see if your council offers help for moving to keep you from being homeless. Some offer a bond/deposit to the landlord, others do a DHP (discretionary housing payment) it’s worth asking them for options x

It's so crazy some people believe that struggling mother, who can't afford deposit for rent (!) has some designer bags or jewellery... My bags are from Asda or Primark, I don't think it would help...

I honestly don't anything like that :( otherwise I would get rid of everything I owned if I did. Wouldn't think twice

Depending where you live there are private rental schemes that help with deposits.

ilikeeggs · 23/03/2025 07:30

Would the deposit you’d get back cover what you need to move? If so I’d ask your landlord if they can give it you back early.

femfemlicious · 23/03/2025 07:33

@MamOf3x stop worrying so much.

What did housing say when you went there?. Hqs the landlord got a eviction order in court yet or has he just given you 2 months notice?. You don't have to leave straight away. I suggest you call your landlord and talk to him. I'm sure he would rather negotiate with you to get the property back rather than go to court which takes ages and is expensive .

Otherwise work with the council. They will probably help pay your deposit and moving costs fir a new private rental instead of having you go homeless then they have to house you in temporary accommodation. It's stressful moving when you have kids but you need to stay calm and logical.

rightoguvnor · 23/03/2025 16:07

As a pp mentioned, check that your local council doesn’t run a scheme for private renters with deposit issues. Our local scheme is for people who could afford (by wage or by benefits) to pay the monthly rent, but don’t have a deposit and/or references. Landlords sign up their properties for the scheme, usually landlords with only one property, it’s not really for commercial landlords. The landlord might receive a bit less rent each month, but the council underwrite any damage to property, can arrange any repairs, and stick to a strict visit policy. The renter pays the Council, the Council pay the landlord.

Can one of you get an extra job in the evenings or weekends to get some more money in?

MamOf3x · 24/03/2025 08:36

We got it sorted guys 😁 partners employer has helped us out, let him have an advance on his wages and will just deducted payments each month from his wage until paid off. Thank God for that ❤️

Still take advice from Shelter about whether you should move out now or wait.

But glad you were able to find a source of funds.

blackcatsarethebestcats · 24/03/2025 13:48

Go on the Turn2Us website - they list lots of organisations that offer grants in different areas

blackcatsarethebestcats · 24/03/2025 13:48

LumpyandBumps · 22/03/2025 17:18

Do you need the money for rent in advance, etc. for a new private rental?
If so I would ask your landlord if he can help.
I say this as a landlord. In his situation I would want to help someone move out quickly rather than have a potentially long and drawn out court battle if your only other option will be social housing.

Edited

This is a good idea. It will be a lot cheaper for them if they don’t have to go through a full eviction process so they may well be willing to help.

323skye · 24/03/2025 23:34

Ring your council, I was made homeless with a newborn and sofa surfed with family. After some time I ended up with a council house. I did have the option of going into temp/emergency housing. Maybe that’s something that will benefit you :)

coronafiona · 25/03/2025 00:25

Could you get a second job? Even if temporary?

MissAndrey · 25/03/2025 00:34

OP, ultimately you don't actually have to move out until the landlord has taken it to court and they give the order. It might buy you some time while you find somewhere suitable, even if you have sorted the funds now.

BobbyBiscuits · 25/03/2025 00:39

I'm sorry you're struggling. I hope your partner can get an advance from work or a loan. I guess you could try a funding page? I know people can frown upon it but it might be worth a try.
I wish I was loaded I'd give you money if I was x

user1492757084 · 25/03/2025 00:43

Have you thought of purchasing the house you are renting?
Could you get a bank loan for that?

Zoflorabore · 25/03/2025 00:48

Op updated and said they are sorted, her partner got an advance from work.

great news op! I hope you find a lovely new home soon.
