That is an increase from.around 70p a few weeks ago. In lidl. Very concerning. Anyone else noticed?

No one owes the Uk cheap food. It's not cheap when it's grown here, why should it be cheaper when imported from abroad? It's tough but we all need to accept that, from now on, more of our money will need to be used to buy food and less will be available for our ridiculously expensive housing

It's not a competition with other countries, a lot of which were always pricier for food but better in other areas, its the fact food prices are soaring so quickly here when everything else is too. disproportionally with income. The problem right now is choosing which is more important, being able to eat or having a roof over your head...My rent is now 3/4 of my income, the bills soak the rest even with being ultra frugal. The less leccy water we use the more it costs! Low wage employers are getting round the rises in NMW by simply shedding staff or cutting hours but expecting more work from the staff left, under the threat of "you're next" .Food is the only controllable expense for us, and we go hungry most days Anyone who isn't feeling that, then you are lucky andI hope it doesn't continue rising to the extent that you do, by then of course we won't be here.Just one more significant rise in rent and we will be homeless, there simply is nowhere cheaper to move to

Do you not think these prices are also rising in other countries as well? I swear every time I go to the supermarket everything has gone up in price. If people want to eat out of season food then they have to pay a price for that - it is a choice, why does anyone need cucumber in winter?

why anyone posts about this at 2am is beyond my understanding! Aren't you tucked up in bed?

I never shop at lidl but those figures don't seem high compared to other stores.

Cucumber and toms are seasonal and will be imported.

If you don't want to pay 99p for broccoli, buy cabbage or kale- likely to be cheaper.

Shift workers may have breaks around 2am? Anyone worried enough may not be sleeping? Not everyone is tucked up 😊

Today Ocado prices
Brocolli 82p
Cucumber 65p
Tomatoes £1

Never understood the love for Aldi and lidl.Quality is not good and goes off in a couple of days

i swapped lidl for ocado when i got a free delivery/money off offer. I always thought it was expensive but the basics and saver deals either ocado and m&s do rival the so called budget supermarkets. And it’s delivered! HATE food shopping.

It’s a good point that wages aren’t keeping up with everything continously going up. 2/3% pay rises barely touch the surface of council tax, water (£20 a month more!) council tax, phone, energy, insurances etc all going up and up.
