Oops. Lunch with a friend, which was going to be a sandwich on the seafront, turned into sit-down meal at the garden centre Cafe.
At least I resisted the plants because (a) it's too early and (b) I'm going away tomorrow 😀

BigSkies2022 · 04/04/2025 08:44

£47 on Sainsbury's shop.
£107 on dishwasher repair
£8 on jet- washer hire - booked in for next week.
£70 payment from dividend - gone straight into emergency cash/cash resilience fund, which is my key financial metric this year.

Visiting DParents today, possibly taking them for lunch depending on how they are - Ddad is not having a good week and needs to preserve energy for big family lunch on Sunday.

Congratulations @Songlines on your retirement. I wish you a healthy and happy one.
I havent managed any NSDs this week so far. Thursday i spent €55 on toiletries. Psorisias shampoo and moisturiser is expensive.

Today €55 at the doctor and €88 at the pharmacy. Psorisias is causing other issues with my nails and i'm on a raft of things to try and get it under control. It doesn't cause me massive problems but i would be very happy to be a lot less itchy and my poor nails have been in bits for a while. i'm hoping this will help to make them pedicure and manicure ready.

Then €12 on 2 sauasage rolls for DH and I for lunch, €8 on fresh cream buns, €4 on coffee for DH and €16 on groceries.

I am also very tempted to eat out for dinner as the weather has been glorious but it is a bit duller now

It's awful isn't it!
I have the same and am in the middle of a huge flare up this week.
Manage to get nice nails and then one by one they suck again!

I know, i was actually completely unaware it was psoriasis and i've never been officially diagnosed with it as my whole family just have it.

The second she saw my nails she was "it looks like psoriasis". im really hoping all this medication works and i get to have nice nails again.

A lovely sunny weekend ahead it seems (freezing but sunny, it is Scotland after all) so I plan on not going anywhere and getting my garden going. It's rare we have a whole weekend with no plans so DW and I are making the most of it!

Just went to M&S and spent £70. Eye watering! But I had a £25 gift voucher from work as I won a 'reward and recognition' award thing (yay me! week 5 already!) and we'd spent more than £45 on our usual lunch out which we won't be doing. Fridge was bare so got the full weekend full of nice food ahead now, and tonight too. What a treat! So happy I'm working again and can afford nice things like this without guilt (too much anyway) again.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/04/2025 19:40

Well done on retirement
great news in the R&R in week 5
sorry lost track

£101 on Sainsbury’s coming tomorrow £11 vets £9 maccies for DS

Frugal25 · 04/04/2025 19:53

Ive missed a few days, just catching up!

Welcome @DressingGemma !
Congratulations @psuedocream3 amazing news!
@Songlines , enjoy every second :)
@MaryGreenhill love the charity shop hauls. I love a mooch round a charity shop mooch and desperately need/want another soon.

Tuesday and Wednesday were no spend days for me.
Yesterday I spent £6 on play group for DD and £58 in Lidl. I tried very hard to keep it small and was chuffed to get a Christmas present to put away, a princess dress for DDs party coming up in the reduced section and some yellow stickers in that.
Today I spent £45 on a month's worth of yoga sessions which is the only me time I get so I think worthwhile although this month is tight and I did think twice about going.
Happy Friday everyone!!

Imperfectpolly · 04/04/2025 20:03

Aside from the planned groceries, it's been a NSD here. Groceries came in at an OK price, €110 of my €150 weekly budget spent and the only top ups should be one carton of milk and one loaf of bread. I've told DC if they eat all the snacks now, they aren't going to be replaced so they'll go without for the rest of the week.

DressingGemma · 04/04/2025 21:44

Thank you for the warm welcomes! Today was a NSD horaay!! I was temped to grab a coffee after the school run but I came home and made one before hanging more washing out in the sunshine (no tumble dryer :))

tomorrow I’m going grocery shopping but I’ve made a list, hopefully I can stick to it

MaryGreenhill · 04/04/2025 22:31

Ah thank you @Frugal25 l diblive avoid mooch around the charity shops , it makes my day when l find stuff .
Well done on going to yoga , l know it's money you can us on something else but it's so good for you mentally and physically 😊

Spendlessretireearly · 05/04/2025 06:13

Petrol yesterday
today away for weekend
hotel already paid for

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/04/2025 07:03

Well done on not buying the coffee. So many good drying days this week. The bedding is being done today
I would do the yoga. It’s all too easy to let self care be one of the first things to go, sometimes bourne of necessity, but if you can make it work I would and sacrifice somewhere else

PenniesButton · 05/04/2025 09:00

Had the news that my personal trainer is leaving in a month. I'm really sad about it as our weekly sessions have been so good for me, but I'm also relieved as that money can be better spent elsewhere to be honest.

Decided not to get another PT as I feel more confident in the gym on my own now thanks to him. I'll see how I get on, but glad to be £160 a month better off. Silver lining.

ememem84 · 05/04/2025 15:51

Checking in. Probably spent about £1000 on flights in the last week. To and from London. Radiotherapy starts on Thursday. And was there on weds for a planning scan. So one day trip, and have booked an overnight for Thurs and fri next week. And booked a flight the following Monday.

also booked (but not yet paid for) hotels for 3 weeks.

and today £144 in garden centre on bulbs, cat food, cat litter, birthday gifts for people. Because I’ll be away for 3 weeks I need to make sure that we have sufficient stuff.

DressingGemma · 05/04/2025 15:55

Stuck to my list grocery shopping. Normally spend between £140 and £160 and I only spent £95 so hopefully that will last the week!

however, my wins were short lived when I went to collect my daughter from work and the car wouldn’t start :(. Looks like it’s going into the garage.

apart from that another NSD

pistachiosanscream · 05/04/2025 16:12

So yesterday evening went as follows. €20 on a gift card for birthday party. €70 Lidl for compost and some groceries. I hit it just as they were doing markdowns. This was necessary spending.

€27 penneys, €23 deals and €6 elverys on a large sliotar. €25 Milano, cheap as I had Tesco vouchers. None of this was necessary.

today was €8.75 for ice cream and €46 in boots for sunscreen.

its been an abundantly spendy April so far. I need to be more mindful about spending. Some of this was unavoidable. Much of it was avoidable. Hoping the major spending itch is gone now and I can settle back to frugal ways. I do always find that good weather loosens my purse strings.

tomorrow will not be frugal either as we plan to head to the beach so DH can surf. I’ll bring snacks in the car but I expect we will still spend money.

i will be returning the two dresses I got on Tuesday so that will be €108 back.

Imperfectpolly · 05/04/2025 16:22

A glorious afternoon here and I'm glad that sitting in the garden is free 🙂

Got DC new curtains for their room this morning, €110 including a new curtain pole. That's putting a big hole in the money I'll have let to transfer to savings at the end of the month.
Happy that i put aside money into savings pots on pay day.

chimichangaz · 05/04/2025 17:12

Been a fairly low spend week for me so far - I did buy lunch on Friday as I went into the office and have felt grotty all week with an eye infection. There’s a definite correlation between feeling poorly and spending money….

I did splash out on some shares yesterday- in a cruise company. If you own 100 you get on board credit as a benefit and I have one cruise already booked with them and looking to book another soon. Plus they were half the price they were 3 months ago.

Off to Tesco shortly for a small shop and I have a voucher for £3 off a £20 spend. Oh and I bought coffee and cake this morning for me and my friend - we have a weekly walk which is a lovely way to ensure we spend time with each other (she has a super busy life!).

Redhairandhottubs · 05/04/2025 17:50

@chimichangaz there’s definitely a link between feeling unwell and spending money. I’ve been fighting a virus the last couple of days and have just been shopping for some treat food and also bought a new hairbrush and some hair oil, my hair is feeling so dry and lank. £37 in Sainsbury’s today. Plus £7.50 for a much needed car wash for my filthy car.

MaryGreenhill · 05/04/2025 17:58

NSD for me today .
Another beautiful day here
Have a lovely weekend everyone 😊
Mac n cheese for tea tonight and lots of cheese 🧀 😋

MaryGreenhill · 05/04/2025 18:03

Hope you are feeling as well as possible @ememem84💐

MaryGreenhill · 05/04/2025 18:06

Get well soon @Redhairandhottubs&@chimichangaz 😊💐

ChipshopPickledEgg · 05/04/2025 18:51

Even run of the mill poorliness is so expensive! Quick trip to the pharmacy aisle and before you know it you've burnt through a tenner add in some comfort food or extra soft food or whatever and you've spent a fortune!

@chimichangaz I think I know what cruise line your on with - intrigued what your next cruise is, mine isn't for months!
I know somebody who made a pretty penny on the cruise shares.
