All welcome, the vibe is frugal life to make the things that matter possible, which is different for everyone, some of us have overcome debt, separations etc. All are friendly and we're sometimes chatty, sometimes quiet.

Well Done @ememem84 ! Counting down the number of treatments made it easier for me. Take all the meds offered and keep a diary of how you felt, what meds you took to help (or not as maybe the case sometimes) then they can tweak things on your next session. You've got this!! Hugs!!

Thanks - I’ve been given a diary and been instructed to fill it in. I also started a journal when I was diagnosed. Helps to ge tthings down on paper and out of my head.

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/08/2024 15:00

Frugal win. Saved £600 but not getting oasis tickets 😂

£25 train, £100 ish food shop, £25 riding clinic, plus whatever dd spent on college clothes

Happierwithouthim · 31/08/2024 15:17

Heard the site was crashing over & over life

€4.50 on cinema giant buttons
€19.08 spent by ds & his friend in Aldi before cinema included 10 250ml bottles of water for my long runs.

See tickets had a hold message on all day as did gigs and yours. Ticketnaster did crash at 9 but I got back in. There were no tickets left by the time I got through 39000 other people.
out of 7 of us I was the only one that made the Q

Timetoswitch · 31/08/2024 17:43

Big hugs em

Annoying about the tickets life but frugal saving!

I had to spend £20 on a second hand school blazer. I’ve bought a new one from the shop, still hasn’t arrived and they couldn’t promise it would arrive in time. 2nd hand one is pristine although has their old logo, wondering whether to try to get a refund on the new one now. Useful to have a spare though.

We used a freebie national trust ticket earlier to go for a nice walk. Took snacks too so just petrol.

I can’t believe August is almost over, and time to go back to work and school 🙁

kessiebird · 31/08/2024 20:43

Well done em hope you're not too rough today. What a day for you, that nurse does sound an angel.

Sorry about the Oasis tickets, but a frugal win Life I didn't try, went to my gym class and there were people who were 19,000th in the queue!

Didn't update yesterday, was £15 at coop and £15 Morrisons.

Today has been food shop day:
£67 Lidl
£2 The Works maths set. DD after spending her own money on a return to school kit from Shein with things like a pink scientific calculator (we have a perfectly good GCSE approved Casio) mini deodorant and mini powder puff realized she needs a maths set! Hope there's nothing else major - although she assures me it's fine!
£12 Chinese supermarket.

That's me at my weekly spend limit for grocery which I rarely seem to stick to 🫣. Will try a few NSDs or at least LSDs until Thursday or Friday 🤞

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2024 07:31

i could have come to the gym and still queued. Wish I had now. But you never know at the time

ememem84 · 01/09/2024 09:03

Are we talking oasis tickets? Or something else?

i didn’t even join the queue. Ordinarily I’d have jumped at it but given things are on hold for us for a while I’ll wait for the second round

today I’m taking the dc to the local adventure park. DH is staying home. I’m only going to be sitting with a coffee though. So not a huge amount of effort for me.

kessiebird · 01/09/2024 12:53

I joined a queue for the queue for about 5 mins on Ticketmaster!

£11.50 DD activity. Saved £7.50 on 1:1 lesson as her coach is on holiday. £1 bag of Milky Way Stars which was a rip off but needed change for tomorrow.

Hope the DC enjoy the adventure park and you can sit with your coffee em

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2024 13:58

Yes oasis em

Nellieinthebarn · 01/09/2024 14:11

NS weekend, frugal sort of roast dinner, sausage and squash traybake with roast spuds, peas and yorkshires with gravy. It was really nice, the flavours of a roast, but not the expensive bit. No leftovers though. In honour of it being the first day of meteorological Autumn, an apple and blackberry crumble with home grown apples and foraged blackberries.

We have a prolific apple tree that fruits early and the apples can be eaten raw or cooked, it came with the house so I don't know the variety which is a shame. They don't keep very well, so this time of year we are eating a lot of appley things, and giving them away.

IDontHateRainbows · 01/09/2024 17:24

Back on the frugal wagon for September. Nearly a nsd for me, but I bought a present for a friend who's getting married, unfortunately I can't make the wedding so I got her a small gift for when I see her next week. £10.

I dodged the usual suspects today though ie coffee/ chocolate/ other crap.

Due to illness I have barely drunk alcohol lately, unusual for me, so saved some money there.

RumBananaSundae · 01/09/2024 18:41

Hope you’re feeling a bit better today em. And enjoyed your coffee.

Apple and blackberry crumble sounds lovely nellie. The mornings are certainly feeling more autumnal.

Bit of spending this weekend - £48 on a Sainsbury gift card, £19.99 on a map (I returned it today), £10 on a Battenberg and £7.31 in Aldi. My meal planning went out the window due to unexpected food spoilage so I picked up some bits in Aldi.

Went into town yesterday and today so I think I’ve spent more on transport than anything else. Will have to you up my card this week.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2024 19:54

Ended up spending a further £126 in Sainsbury’s but got some outfits for that too
got charged for a cancelled subscription but refunded straight seat awsy

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2024 19:56

I and £200 to dd for college clothes and lunch money

watching the Barbie move. God it is shit. Like turn off before the finish shit

Sortingmyselfoutdayatatime · 01/09/2024 19:57

1 September. 1 nsd In the bag

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 01/09/2024 20:02

Blimey em I really hope the treatment isn't too bad for you, part of you must still be in shock this is happening?

I've just gone through my DDs to get an idea of what they are now as I've not added them up for a while. Total DDs come to around £1067, savings £300 although this month I'm not saving anything.

My council tax has gone up loads now dd is out of college, ddogs insurance is also going up by £7 a month and the pet plans have also increased <sigh>

Think we're all set for Paris now though, got £200 worth of euros out Ystd and will move savings to cover any other Paris spends.

The rest of September is going to be very frugal 😬

I ended up buying two lots of theatre tickets Ystd for next year, going to take my mum to see kinky boots with johannes and dd to see Hairspray for their bdays. Have used savings and got cheapish seats, can hopefully pay sayings back next month...

TwitchyNibbles · 01/09/2024 21:45

NSD for me today. Had some meatballs in the freezer for tea with pasta. Need to properly sort through there at some point this week to see what else is in there we can use up.

A friend of ours managed to get Oasis tickets - don't know how he does it but he always manages to get lucky with these things. Everyone else who was trying that I know didn't even get close, and the ticket prices looked 😮

RumBananaSundae · 02/09/2024 06:58

Morning All -

Have a fab time in Paris Girlie. I saw Kinky Boots a few years ago and I enjoyed it.

Did your husband get the pistache spread Hack? I'm still thinking about what to do with it.

No spends yet. Checked the bank and AH has been an AH. I think he has but then not sure if its too early to see a bank transfer that is scheduled for the 1st. I don't use internet banking so not sure how long it takes for things to show. A transaction from Friday is pending but direct debits due yesterday have gone today. Will check again later to be sure.

ememem84 · 02/09/2024 08:22

Pistachio soread is amazing on croissant. Le yum

enjoy Paris!!!!

I felt wiped yesterday afternoon but did enjoy my coffee. I met up with a few other mums from school completely coincidentally. So we had coffee together while the kids ran feral. The place is totally geared up for parents to be away from kids. It’s great.

Happierwithouthim · 02/09/2024 09:41

Spends this morning 90c on pint of milk, I could've brought this from home in last weeks bottle, plan for going forward

Yesterdays spends €14.58 on dunnes click & collect, my edited order didn't go through Sad
€20 match entry
Bf paid for lunch €50+

£76 in garden centre in a new plant for living room. My monstera decided to give up.

£23 boots deodorant and face wash for DH.

£46 toy shop. Picked up some bits for dnephews for Christmas. And something for ds’ birthday

£45 Ish new look

£32 Claire’s.

Chile1978 · 02/09/2024 15:44

Love musicals @Girliefriendlikespuppies 🎼 you'll have a great time

Sorry to those that missed out on tickets. I vehemently oppose dynamic pricing so boycotted the whole thing. I have however bought some very reasonable priced tickets for a play in October.

Lots of admin happening today and getting ready for start of school tomorrow and trying to book in clubs. Still no luck with moving swimming lessons - dd1 and 2 currently have them at different swimming pools which is a bit frustrating.

Had quote for home project 1: £1200. Now need to sort quote for home project 2 and then decide which one to tackle first. Home project 3 is 24k so that one has been put on back burner but might be worth waiting for Jan sales.

30% on target for pension savings and CC has been reconciled. £200 work expenses still outstanding but need to claim that back.

Started back up on selling things - nothing for significant money but the odd pound here and there and it's getting stuff out of the house. Half a dozen tip runs this week.

Starlight40 · 02/09/2024 19:30

Well after spending £350 to get my car fixed a few weeks ago, the engine light came on so I got something else fixed and then 4 days later it came on again. So I now have a new car😫 paying monthly for it. Not what I wanted to do but I need a car to get to work. I had £15 back for the tax today so I bought my husband a reusable cup from Cafe Nero for Christmas as his lid is broken and paid £4 off my Next account. Yesterday was a NSD.
