Who else is depressed at not being able to afford to do anything since cost of living crisis? I find life really boring.

Also sick of some people on mumsnet who earn over £50k and are pleading poverty. Absolute c*s

Thats it thats the thread.

Im sick of reading about people my age complaining they had it hard too when they bought somewhere to live.
Young people these days need stupid cash deposits. Im 57 and got a 100% mortgage.

If people are moaning now they have every right.

I totally agree with you

@Frugalfruit sounds like you've raised a parasite. I'm a bit older than you by the sound of it, with DC mid to late twenties. If they tried to cadge £50 for nails, I'd laugh in their faces.

We have a household income of just over £60,000, and let me tell you it’s fucking grim here. DH earns the vast, vast majority of that and is taxed heavily.

I’ve just finished a wash load at 10pm because I needed it to be on my economy 7 rate. It’s hanging up outside to dry because we can’t afford the tumble dryer and the house is so cold after not having the heating on since January that drying it inside risks damp.

No phone contracts, no TV licence, no gyms no meals out. I don’t think you realise how far £60k goes on a family of 5 when you get absolutely no state help at all. A friend of mine is a single parent teacher, £42,000 for her salary, £500 a month maintenance, £200 CB, only childcare is breakfast club once a week for her early morning staff meeting. She has vastly more disposable income than we do and gets a uniform grant and goes to the food bank!

I agree OP. It's the little treats that make life worth living.
Judging by the amount of people on my feed going on holidays, and the amount of people I see on the highstreet everyday spending it feels like it hasn't affected everyone.

EmpressSoleil · 22/04/2024 14:12

Often people will pay for holidays or other spending on credit cards though.

I'll be going on holiday later this year but what people won't have seen is that I've been doing overtime for 18months now and living very frugally, to save for it. So technically yes I can afford it but have made big sacrifices to do so. Its not something I can sustain.
