2024 "inflation" pay rise, anyone?

Charcol · 21/03/2024 10:49

I believe a few companies often do an annual payrise.
Often in line with inflation. Just wondered what people were given for 2024, if anything.

Going first... just found out that we are getting 3% at my company. Doesnt sound too shabby. Better than a slap in the face, I guess lol.

Are you getting or gotten a rise for 2024?

Public sector - unions are negotiating. We will find out around October and then get a backdated lump sum in December.

Bromptotoo · 21/03/2024 10:55

Charitable sector so not hopeful though the increase in the NLW is eroding differentials for those of us with skills/qualifications.

LadyDanburysHat · 21/03/2024 10:58

Also 3%, not great, but better than nothing. Looking for a new job for a good salary boost this year though.

daisydalrymple · 21/03/2024 11:05

I work in hospitality. I’m getting 6%.

noblegiraffe · 21/03/2024 11:08

The govt have recommended that teachers get around 1.2%. We’re waiting to see whether the independent pay review body will do what they say.

NCfor24 · 21/03/2024 11:21

Local authority so I just look forward to my pre Xmas back pay hopefully!
DH just got 5% - think he got a rise last year but nothing for a couple years prior to that.

Sunglassesweather · 21/03/2024 11:54

2.5% - so a below inflation rise. Wasn't too impressed.

Gardeneverytime · 21/03/2024 13:18

Local Authority here too. Think unions have requested min 3k or 10% 🙄 So will wait 7/8 months for them to haggle endlessly only to secure no more than the LGA are offering anyway (whatever that may be). In the meantime we get no increase. Not sure how unions think LAs can afford to pay 10% given most of them are on the brink of financial crisis. I'd rather have a lower increase and keep my job!
Last year the backdated pay in November reduced my UC claim to zero. This just "happened" to be the qualifying period for the last COL payment. So missed out on £299 in February. Thanks for that unions, doing the exact opposite of what you should be doing.

Yearendjoy · 21/03/2024 13:25

I just got 6% payrise and 15% bonus.

Whatwillbewilbe · 21/03/2024 14:30

We haven’t heard yet hoping for the inflation rate at a minimum. Last year we got 6.5, but that’s unlikely to be repeated. (Charity sector)

LittlePrecious · 21/03/2024 14:35

DP gave his staff a 10% pay rise this year - private sector, small company.

sickofbuilders · 21/03/2024 16:51

I got 6.5% rise and 8% bonus.

DH got 4% rise and 4.5% bonus.

But with everything rising it doesn’t really make much of a dent.

We are trying to attack from other end by reducing spending for a while. But it’s a minimum of 1k a month just for food and petrol

mynameiscalypso · 21/03/2024 16:54

5% pay rise is standard although I negotiated a 10% rise for one of my team as she was being underpaid compared to new joiners at the same level. Charity sector here.

whirlyhead · 21/03/2024 16:55

Employed via my own company and my pay rise is zero for about the 8th year in a row. I try and pay myself as little as possible to keep costs and tax down.

Charcol · 21/03/2024 17:25

Thanks for the answers guys. Keep em coming!

I can see it obviously varies depending on sector and if private / public.
Forgot to say my 3% was for private manufacturing firm.

3% cost of living rise

but our pensions are being reduced - so overall massive decrease long term

KalaMush · 21/03/2024 17:36

Me - 4% (public sector)
DH - no pay rise (private sector, insurance)

Tangled123 · 22/03/2024 09:57

I got offered 8%, but that was on the lower end of what my team got so I wasn’t happy, especially since I was already being underpaid. I renegotiated a 20% increase.

Musiclover234 · 23/03/2024 08:11

Really annoys me how the MPs in government accept themselves a higher % pay rise than they then offer the public sector staff. ‘Independent body’ Hmmmm

NHS so not hopeful but we are seeing utter chaos daily and so many are looking for ways out that a very low below inflation rise will be the final nail in the coffin for many staff.

Sunandseaforme · 23/03/2024 08:33

I got 4% (charity sector)
DH got around 6% but also large bonuses this year as their company had a profitable year (private sector)

GiantRoadPuzzle · 23/03/2024 10:19

Private sector but heavily unionised and on a union-negotiated contract.

9.9% pay rise and 7.5% bonus.

KeepingItUnderTheRadar · 23/03/2024 10:36

11% in March 2024. That's on top of a 9% increase in March 2023. Annual bonus has stayed at circa 12% of salary, but of course this will also now increase in £ due to the salary increase.

Everyone was surprised. For years there have been annual raises of circa 2-3% and we thought the 'big one' had already been done in 2023 and we'd be back to the 2-3% this year.

Snackpocket · 23/03/2024 10:41

Private sector, I got a 5.3% pay increase and 8% bonus.

Goinoutalone · 23/03/2024 10:42

4.5% payrise
8% bonus
it’s fairly standard as we get that annually to be fair…would appreciate more this year with COL though, but better than nothing

Goinoutalone · 23/03/2024 10:42

Private sector
