Excluding rent or mortgage how much do you pay for the basics of
Gas/elec/water/ctax
/TV license etc etc

OP posts:
FunnysInLaJardin · 14/02/2024 13:54

energy - £200 pcm
drainage - £70 pcm
rates - £30 pcm
Insurance £90 pcm
Wifi, TV etc about £150 pcm

TheCountessofLocksley · 14/02/2024 13:56

@WhyWhyY all the responses are useless to you. Everyone has a different CT rate, bills differ depending on a number of factors.

If you're after a ballpark figure better to narrow down your options in terms of size of house, location, whether you are at work all day 5 days a week, provider etc.

CT can be worked out by a quick visit to your local council website and an online calculator will help you work out fuel/water costs etc. Much more helpful than random answers from people who could be living in a one bed flat to a mansion.

TheCountessofLocksley · 14/02/2024 13:57

Sorry- ignore me - app is slow to update have seen you've added more info @WhyWhyY

Definitely not true that you don't pay council tax if you claim pip, in my area you get a discount if you can prove you have extra space in your home due to a disability and it's just reduced to the next band down. For a lot of Pip claimants that won't be relevant.

Smleps · 14/02/2024 14:00

Council tax 252
Gas & E. 125
water. 40
Phones. 14

Without knowing size of property and number of residents, the figures are pretty meaningless.

Plus how often you’re at home/have the heating on.

There are some illnesses and disabilities which mean you don’t pay council tax eg stroke or MS.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/02/2024 15:49

I've had a quick google for her but seems so pay ct with basic pip

Tho my dh had mild stroke 15mths ago and nothing has ever come up they we get a discount

Bishopsgirl · 15/02/2024 00:52

@Blanketenvy Are you accusing me of lying? how dare you say "definitely not true" about something I've said. I am not a liar! My dh receives standard rate PIP and we don't have to pay any council tax at all and have been told that it's purely because he is in receipt of PIP. I suggest that anyone in receipt of PIP contacts their local council to see what the rules are in their area. If my Council, Lancashire, exempts people in receipt of PIP from paying any council tax, then I'm sure others must do too. Surely it's worth checking? I'd hate anyone to miss out on Council Tax Support if they are entitled to it.

Of course not. Just explaining it varies by council and not everyone will benefit. I claim pip and just pay normal council tax here, no discounts.
