NSD for me

Toooldtoworry · 02/01/2024 18:11

NSD for me after all 😁

Hatty65 · 02/01/2024 18:47

I spent nothing yesterday, but today we had to travel 400 miles back from in laws, so filled up with fuel and also bought lunch for 4 in pub on way home. Hopefully that's it for a bit though.

scoopdewhoop · 02/01/2024 18:58

No spend day here too! Work all day in the office- took a packed lunch and some sachets of coffee.

ProjectsGalore · 02/01/2024 20:02

NSD today and have entered my monthly spending into a budgeting spreadsheet. Also opened a high interest savings account and a plan to pay off my debts.

Wond3rment · 02/01/2024 20:13

NSD today thankfully.

I have some medical receipts to process this evening which will get some money back (PHI).

GogoGobo · 02/01/2024 20:39

NSD today! A rarity for me

cuddlebear · 02/01/2024 21:06

Another NSD for me.

I don’t have debt to pay off, but am due to completely decimate my meagre savings this year as I promised DD I would financially support her through a Masters. I did the same for DS so there’s no way out of it!!! Their father won’t give a penny so it’s all on me.

As I am 59 this year, I have to plan to replenish those savings so my retirement plan is safe. Luckily I have reasonable pension provision but there’s a two year period between age 65 and 67 where I may need support.

Just sharing as it’s part of holding myself accountable. I don’t have to be frugal now, but if I’m not, I’ll have to work FT until 67.

Definitely something to aim towards.

chimichangaz · 02/01/2024 21:39

Haven't read the whole thread but I'm in. I try to manage my budget with YNAB but I haven't updated it for weeks and I'm a bit scared to as I spent a LOT of money in November and December. Christmas obviously but also buying random stuff mostly off amazon. So this needs to stop.

I've got a whole stash of skincare so I'm buying none of that for the first 6 months at least. I'm going to eat my way through my cupboards and freezer so a max of £150 on shopping this month. And no clothes purchases unless with my Vinted balance (currently about £12 but I've just put loads on to sell).

I'm not cutting Amazon spending totally - will allow myself a budget of £20/month.

Have decided to try to pay my mortgage off this year which means aggressively overpaying. I've also got a big holiday planned in March but that will be it for this year. I'm going to try to 'retire' from my stressful job at the end of the year if I've paid off my mortgage, and find something less stressful and fewer hours. So I need to practice actually budgeting!

Hoping this thread will keep me accountable 😬

Goldmember · 02/01/2024 21:48

NSD for me, DH went to the shop for milk only. I've set my budgets for the next year, very tight targets but I think achievable.

Hopful123 · 02/01/2024 21:56

Another NSD for me, but we have next to no food left so will be doing a large food shop online tomorrow evening. I’m Wfh so hoping to make a sandwich and not go out other than to buy nappies and wipes.

WinterNamechange · 02/01/2024 22:53

NSD for me today and yesterday. I have to go into work tomorrow if the trains are running so that’s £14 there and back and I’ll get lunch in the work canteen as it’s the first day back - it’s subsidised though so will cost less than £2. I’m feeling quite motivated to finally get cracking on paying off our CC debt, previously I’ve been happy to switch it between 0% interest cards, but now I just want it gone!

EllieQ · 02/01/2024 23:00

2 Jan update. Took DD to the library including a trip to the cafe:

£4 bus fare
£7.05 cafe
£2.50 sewing thread for craft project

Total: £13.55

Aiming for a NSD tomorrow.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 03/01/2024 00:10

very low spend day (grocery top up)
apple return sent in which will offset an amazon order not yet filled from december (basic levis trousers cheapest via amazon) dh necessity.
dh is aware and onboard with the financial plan: payment plan for the mattress, and hitting the ploc with an extra $500 per month.
him being onboard is huge.

bridgewateremma · 03/01/2024 02:43

I'm awake at silly 'o' clock - I'm on rest days just now but I work shifts so my body clock is a bit fucked.

1/1 & 2/1 both NSDs. Off to a friend's for a cuppa tomorrow but will take a packet of shortbread from here. I do need to buy train tickets though so won't be a NSD.

I've been doing some hard thinking and internal debating about my priorities - short term pain = long term gain etc. I am due to be paid £400+ net in overtime at the end of January and was planning to use this extra money to buy myself something special for my birthday and have some funds to spend on a couple of special days out. I'm a bit precious about my birthday and this is important to me. However, given that I want to be debt free in 6 short months, I'm now (painfully) thinking I'll spend £150 or so on my birthday/days out/a gift for myself and put the other £250+ towards debt repayment at the end of January.

Soccermumamir · 03/01/2024 07:33

NSD yesterday and a LSD today. Had to pay for ds2's breakfast club to start from tomorrow, so that was £32 till the end of the month. Off to the gym, then home to get some jobs done.
OH is off to get some food shopping in, but I don't count food shopping as it's budgeted for 🙂

grannycake · 03/01/2024 07:54

NSD yesterday, Weather was awful so stayed in and got through a mound of washing. Dinner from freezer as it will be today

Toooldtoworry · 03/01/2024 08:06

Won't be an NSD today as have some house maintenance being done that's long overdue, but it will save me in the long term.

NoBistoForYou · 03/01/2024 08:12

Didn't achieve a NSD yesterday unfortunately, but could have been worse. Had to replace a faulty electric toothbrush so counts as essential, and buy a birthday present. Didn't buy anything else at the shop. Trip to the library was free at least.

Goldmember · 03/01/2024 08:25

Aiming for another NSD today and then a mid-week shop tomorrow. The DDs want to go to Boots to spend their Xmas vouchers, I need to go with them as I have a 10% student discount. I vow not to buy anything 🫡 for myself, even though it is my birthday next week. I received enough beauty stuff for Xmas to last me through to 2025 maybe even 2026. Need to get through my beauty stash first.

I've asked for Amazon vouchers for my birthday. There's nothing I need at the moment but it reduces the outgoings when I do need some bits.

Can't procrastinate any longer. Off to work 😦 It will be a shock to the system after 2 weeks off.

Pammela2 · 03/01/2024 09:42

Have had 2 nsd. Was just hit with £40 of import duty for something ordered a week ago though 😭bloody brexit.
I also promised my eldest we’d have a day out just us, so have train fare. I have club card vouchers from a while ago for zizzis so I’m going to use those for lunch too! Hoping I don’t get too detailed by the sales..

FiveShelties · 03/01/2024 09:50

NSD here. Walked the dog this morning and did some gardening this afternoon, which kept me away from the shops!

ProjectsGalore · 03/01/2024 10:44

I've been hit with a payment for a glossy box subscription so my plan for NSD has come unstuck. I've cancelled my subscription though which is good news!

2024Hackathon · 03/01/2024 11:21

02.01 was NSD but today won't be as I've already bought part of a birthday present (99p Kindle offer).

I may have to buy some fresh milk as MIL's DP wants to try a specific yoghurt strain for some gut issues. Unfortunately, I'd also need to purchase some very costly capsules to start the culture and it seems quite a flaky process to get it going.

Sadly, some spending is needed here today. I need school shoes for my daughter before she goes back to school but I have a voucher and will be putting it on my new spreadsheet.
