How much do you spend on groceries per week? Currently we’re coming in around £120 pw for 2 adults and 2 young teens.
I’m counting groceries as what I buy in a supermarket, so that includes cleaning products, and laundry detergent.

Curious how that compares.

Four of us here

£125 at beginning of month but each week we buy milk, bread and treats for the week (lunch snacks etc) so maybe £20 a week at the most

I put toiletries and kitchen things (laundry, washing up liquid etc) on Amazon every four months though so prob £60 each quarter

TheChosenTwo · 11/10/2023 22:22

between £200-£250 a week, 4 and sometimes 5 of us. All depends really. When dd is at uni we send her £100 per week for food/travel/general social funds. I don’t really
include her in the cost of our food shop even though technically we do pay for it!

Thewildthingsarewithme · 11/10/2023 22:23

£200 a week on 2 adults and one toddler 🙃 all organic meat, fruit and veg which doubles the price.

RoseAndRose · 11/10/2023 22:29

About £150 a week for 3 adults and 1 dog. Add more if either non-resident DC (+/- partner) is visiting.

Plus a lot more as we amortise Christmas treats from November onwards

MintJulia · 11/10/2023 22:35

£60 a week for one adult and one hollow-legged teen boy. It was £50 last year.

Hagpie · 11/10/2023 22:37

£150 a week for 2 adults, 2 kids and a baby. That includes nappies, cleaning stuff, baby milk etc but God dam is it a load of work to eat lots of fruit and veg on that.

Berries had to GO.

Usually a main shop of about 70 and a 20/30 pound top up. Just done a main shop but with a few extras in and it was 108 at Aldi. I’ve just had a quick look and all except one item would have been more expensive (some by a lot) in Tesco so that made me feel much better. 2 adults

Musiclover234 · 13/10/2023 04:25

Two adults probably around £50 a week, but we do eat out a couple of times and have a takeaway or chippy teas couple of times too.

Wildflower2022 · 15/10/2023 11:49

£60 a week ish. Just me and a toddler but I try to buy organic fruit and veg where I for DS and will go to the butcher for meat (we only have it a few times a week, he prefers veggie/lentil/bean meals which saves my bank balance!)

Bluegreen143 · 21/10/2023 15:25

It’s going to vary a lot. We spend £150 a week for two adults and two kids (aged 7 and 4, thd four year old is at preschool, both get free school lunches five days a week in term time and the little one gets snacks provided at preschool too). We almost never eat out or get takeaways and this does include toiletries and cleaning products. Doesn’t include alcohol which we budget for separately from our own accounts.

But we aren’t trying to economise, we’re much more focused on healthy eating just now and avoiding too much processed food and am ok spending more because of this buying lots of berries, seeds, leafy veg, nuts, lean meat etc.

In the past, when budget was a bigger concern, we spent way less. That was before the COL crisis but I could definitely cut back quite a bit even now if we had eg a job loss to contend with!

We can afford what we spend but I know what to do (stretching meals out with carbs and pulses, downgrading brands, making better use of leftovers, more cheap pasta and soup meals etc) if I need to.

I get my shopping delivered and get two deliveries a week (Sunday nights and Thursday nights) which are usually between £60-90 a time.

Jellycatspyjamas · 22/10/2023 17:09

I’ve just spent £95 for me and two kids, that includes some batch cooking that will go in the freezer and packed lunches for the kids. If we had to we could live off off the freezer for a good 2/3 weeks. I’ll top up on milk midweek but otherwise won’t need to buy anything else.

I find coming into winter much cheaper for food because I’ll make casseroles and soups which are easier to bulk out with veg etc. Summer is more expensive because salad ingredients are more expensive if you’re going to make it interesting and no one here wants soup for lunch in warmer weather.

HopAPot · 22/10/2023 17:10

£150 a week, two adults and two primary age children.

Motheranddaughter · 22/10/2023 20:15

£200 a week 2 adults 2 late teens
Includes all meat which is bought from butcher

Steppingintome · 23/10/2023 08:41

3 adults and 2 teenagers here and we spend between £90 and £120 a week. This includes cleaning products. This doesn’t include dog and cat food and we get this in bulk every month (£55 for dog £20 for the cat). Our adult son doesn’t eat with us for 2 nights per week but if he did it would probs bump up another £10 or so?

Passthecake30 · 26/10/2023 16:09

Probably about £160-£180 a week, 2 adults, 2 teens. Lots of snacks. Ds has grown 5” in a year and I’ve felt it in the purse!

Flidina · 29/10/2023 05:25

I spend about & £100 a week, online shop for 3 adults, 1 teen, and then small top up shop during the week, £20-25.I do cook from scratch, a lot, and we don't do takeaways.
