How much is your weekly grocery spend?

How much do you spend on groceries per week? Currently we’re coming in around £120 pw for 2 adults and 2 young teens.
I’m counting groceries as what I buy in a supermarket, so that includes cleaning products, and laundry detergent.

Curious how that compares.

Seems reasonable, we spend about £60 a week including cleaning/laundry and toiletries, for 2 adults.

Floraltears · 11/10/2023 11:07

we’re similar to you OP.

We spend £130 a week for 2 adult, 2 teens, a dog and a few small pets.

we have a lot of allergies which bump the price up but we all eat at home for breakfast, lunch and dinner (or take a pack lunch with us if out).

we mainly shop at Aldi then get the allergy food/stuff Aldi doesn’t sell from Sainsbury’s or asda.

Colourfulponderings · 11/10/2023 11:09

Very similar to you - 2 adults, 2 DC. Feels like grapes make up a big % though!

Plump82 · 11/10/2023 11:26

Just the 2 of us plus 2 cats. We don't buy cat food every week so we're between £40 and £60 a week.

Nonplusultra · 11/10/2023 12:38

@Colourfulponderings grapes are a significant outlay in this house too! One of the few fruits autistic ds likes

About €150 a week. 2 adults, 1 toddler

MaybeSerena · 11/10/2023 13:05

Oh. I spend about twice that OP for 5 of us. I got very lazy about grocery shopping (eg not using a budget or shopping around for offers, and buying far too many treats) a few years ago when my youngest stopped nursery so I felt rich! And our mortgage rate was lower then so we could afford it more easily. I need to do better now as this is is why I never have any money over at the end of the month.

OccultOctopus · 11/10/2023 13:06

About £150 per week for 3 adults.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 11/10/2023 13:12

£25ish a week for me and three cats.
I eat a lot of cheap noodles!

MikeRafone · 11/10/2023 14:12

for 2 of us its coming in at £55 a week and that includes cleaning items, loo paper etc

I am though going to start getting some of the cleaning, loo paper, toiletries from amazon - as having checked its cheaper for many items than Sainsbury.

ODFOx · 11/10/2023 15:17

We're keeping it just below £100 pw on average by getting a fruit and veg box delivered weekly, getting a Tesco delivery fortnightly, topping up with bread and ham as needed, and a quarterly meat shop.
4 adults, all cleaning and meals incl entertaining (except DHs lunches).

shatteredL · 11/10/2023 15:25

£100 a week (or there abouts sometimes less or more) for 2 adults one child

Hyperion100 · 11/10/2023 15:30

£90-£100 per week for 2 adults.

Pre covid it was £60 for the same trolley of groceries.

riotlady · 11/10/2023 15:46

£80-£100 for two adults, a child and a formula-fed baby, depending on whether we go to Lidl or Morrisons and how frugal I try to be.

Just me and a cat. About £60 a week. I don't scrimp and buy a lot of treats for her -She's very old and I do indulge her. A takeaway once a week I think on average.
I buy toilet rolls, cat litter and washing stuff in bulk. Probably £60 every three months.

GentlemanJack · 11/10/2023 20:29

Sorry. More like £20.

lochmaree · 11/10/2023 20:34

about £150/week for 2 adults and 2 toddler DC. We buy organic milk, some organic cheese some not. No meat. Some fruit and veg organic. Includes some cleaning products but not all as others I get from Miniml refills. Split about £90-100/ week at Sainsburys and £50-60 /week at Lidl.

ScarletPower · 11/10/2023 20:42

I budget £400 a month for grocery shopping for three adults and usually come in at around £350. I am lucky enough to have membership of a discount surplus supermarket (Company Shop) and eat very well from there basing my meal plans around what they have in stock as it's different every week and I get the rest of what they don't sell from Morrisons. I definitely would be spending more money if I were doing a full weekly shop at Morrisons and Asda.

Thisislifefornow · 11/10/2023 21:27

About £100 2 adults and two pre teen age. I don't eat meat though so think we save a bit there

BHRK · 11/10/2023 21:37

£200-£250 a week, family of 5

Cactuslove · 11/10/2023 21:42

Two adults and two children (2 and 5)... £60 per week. One adult is a student from abroad and she doesn't have lunch but other than that all other meals. I have a separate order with SMOL for detergent etc which works out no more than £10 per month.

gotomomo · 11/10/2023 21:55

Spent 17.50 this week, everyone is away, normally £100 for 3-4 adults
