Warm my hands up

I’m shit at being cold but I need to cut down on my heating as it was a shit show cost wise last year.

Right now it’s saying it’s 21 in my house - and I feel ok. But my hands are freezing!!!

How can I keep my hands warm without wearing bloody gloves? It’s not even cold yet, I despair at myself!!!!

Fingerless gloves/wrist warmers are a good option, I've worn them working from home before. You could make a pair of wrist warmers from old socks if you don't want to fork out, just snip the toe off et voila.

declutteringmymind · 19/09/2023 17:22

Try and improve your circulation- garlic tablets perhaps?

afaloren · 19/09/2023 17:40

Microwaveable rice bag. You can even make your own and add nice essential oils.

KievLoverTwo · 19/09/2023 20:37

For me, it always the nose. I only have a little nose, I get insanely jealous that my OH's massive hooter stays toasty whilst my little button nose feels artic!

Anyway, I have found that if I keep my neck, feet and ankles warm, the rest stays toasty too. Bootee slippers with socks and roll neck jumpers with another layer underneath. We've got a gale blowing around the house today, no heating on and these have kept me nice and warm.

Sueretiredawhileago · 19/09/2023 21:55

Yes! my nose is a medium size but gets very cold too. I need a nose cozy

Turtle doves wrist warmers are brilliant. I have them for WFH in the winter after seeing them recommended on here. They're a bit pricey but you can find money off vouchers sometimes

cosmicgal · 19/09/2023 22:13

I'm exactly the same. It's sitting still that's the main problem so get up and move whenever feasible!

Moodwill · 22/09/2023 12:23

I wear the turtle dove fingerless gloves too. I need to find them actually. I also have an alarm set on my phone to go off every 30 mins, so I get up and do star jumps and run up and down the stairs once. Sounds daft, but those little minutes help keep me warm.

autumncoloursinmyhead · 22/09/2023 20:43

I wore Turtle Doves cashmere fingerless gloves all winter last year while wfh. It really helped and I'm sure knotted versions are as warm as cashmere.

BronwenFrideswide · 22/09/2023 21:10

Thanks for the recommendations for Turtle Doves GandTtwice and autumncoloursinmyhead they look lovely and just what I am looking for.

Turtle Doves here as well, they are brilliant. They sometimes sell seconds on eBay.

Sueretiredawhileago · 22/09/2023 22:16

Hang on a minute is this some weird pile on by the people that own / market Turtle Dove gloves? I’ve never seen so many posts about a random unknown brand suddenly pick up after a thread has been dead for days……

I've been a TD fan for the past few winters
I could not work in my office in winter without them. So much that every woman working with me now owns at least 2 pairs!

Moodwill · 25/09/2023 20:28

I’m not a turtle doves employee or anything, MN can prove that! I just love mine. I suspect the reason so many others agree is because last Christmas in the Christmas forum they were selling off seconds super cheap on eBay and every time they listed a new batch, there would be someone updating on MN and we would all rush to buy them, as they were perfect for Christmas presents!

saltnsaucey · 25/09/2023 21:13

Maybe you have Raynaud’s Syndrome? My friend has it

Doggymummar · 25/09/2023 21:15

Hot water bottle, and you can get nose cozies, I had one in secret Santa years ago. No it wasn't a Willie warmer.

PurpleRadish · 25/09/2023 21:17

Rechargeable electric hand warmers for pockets. But you can't type holding them...

Jouleigh · 25/09/2023 21:20

I saw the turtledoves recommendations last year and yearned for a pair. So expensive though so put them on my Xmas list.
I went to a school Christmas marker early December and got 2 pairs for £10. The wool is soft, they wash well and had great colours.

christinarossetti19 · 25/09/2023 21:35

You can make wrist warmers from an old jumper - cut to appropriate size and hem.

I had a cashmere jumper that I shrunk in the wash that has made half a dozen pairs that weren't £25 each!

Paired with fingerless gloves when it's really cold and you won't look back.

erikbloodaxe · 25/09/2023 21:47

I must be one of the very few who were not impressed with turtle doves. I bought them for MIL after she broke her wrist. £25 for two pieces of old jumper sleeves. Not impressed at all.

LightSpeeds · 25/09/2023 22:17

Hot water bottle.

cocksstrideintheevening · 25/09/2023 22:39

I've got turtle doves after seeing them on here last year. I got the seconds direct from their website. No idea why they were seconds.

I actually never wore them, or the oodie, or used the electric blanket - never got cold enough!

Ihaveawonderfulpartner · 26/09/2023 07:29

I agree with a hot water bottle. I always have one on my lap when it's chilly and put my hands under it.

pickledandpuzzled · 26/09/2023 07:32

keep your core warmer and your extremities will stay warm too. I discovered last year that a hot water bottle on my lap, whether I was cold or not, meant my hands and feet stayed warm. It’s logical yet still unexpected!
