July was crap and August feels like might be crap also.
Husband forgot he had booked in dental work £280 so had juggle few things pay that.
Paid summer childcare for youngest in July and saving £150 on teenagers school montly bus tickets.
Set aside £150 to do a few days trips as me and husband booked a week off each .
No holiday again this year.
Need to renew kids passports as possible all of them going away next year with school/ freinds anyone know how expensive?
Eldest 18 I feb am I better off getting her child now 5 years or getting her 10 year?
Ours valid until 2027 and as much as would love to go abroad next year mortage is increasing in jan.
Cars on it's last legs and things need doing around the house.

Kids keep phoning me at work saying buy snacks on way home we have nothing to eat.
Theres loads there just stuff they don't want to eat.

Grocery spends so far already crazy high and we not even half way point.
Relentless snacking, cereal/ milk and booze.

Not even started back to school shopping.

@Sunshineandlollipop thank you very much xx

Congratulations @xogossipgirlxo !! Hope you're enjoying the new baby snuggles. Take care of yourself too.

August hen do in London has been accomplished. But like you @Echo40 this month has been very spendy and we're only halfway through! We need new school uniform and shoes very soon, and are going for two weekend trips at the end of August/ start of September. Managed to keep my streak of 2 NSDs per week (barely!) but I feel like I've blown the budget this month.

Good thing is that my debt payment is over, just before the 0% rate ended. So my attempts at frugality earlier in the year have succeeded, I suppose! Looking forward to more 'normal' months without that expense. Maybe I can even save a bit again.

Hope everyone is doing all right - the thread has gone quiet, but to be expected when we're all busy working, travelling, etc.

So far, I've managed two NSDs this week. Much needed! But today we're completing two online passport renewals and dropping off paperwork and a package at the post office.
Today I randomly received a £150 payment for some extra consulting I did for work, which is very welcome given that I've overspent this month!
Tomorrow I'm working 9-3 pm, so hoping for another NSD.
Good luck all!

@moimichme thank you❤️

We have lots of nsds now, so not much to report from me except grocery shopping. So far we spent £200 as husband went shopping on Wednesday, cupboard and fridge are full. We have £70 gift card to sainsburys for signing new broadband contract, so this will be used at the end of this month I think.

xogossipgirlxo · 19/08/2023 11:25

Oh we went to Ikea and spent £35 there for few bits and bobs, but mainly we needed new bathtub for our son. I bought fancy one with back support etc.and it’s rubbish. Turns out simplicity is best.

moimichme · 19/08/2023 16:36

That's great you have the groceries gift card - very useful! Hope you're all keeping well.

And I think it is helpful for all of us to remember that 'simplicity is best' sometimes - thanks for that!

Yesterday was £18 at post office and £3 on drawing paper for ds (he had run out).

Today I've spent £24 on a partial gift for DH (birthday next month) plus some little treats for me. Shouldn't have, but at least it didn't break the bank!

xogossipgirlxo · 25/08/2023 12:48

Spent voucher in Sainsbury’s, we paid 50 quid on top of it, but it will go towards September, as it’s meat etc. that will go to the freezer.
Also bought cat supplies for September, 75 quid.

Going to lidl today to buy some cleaning products, loo roll etc. Who knew that once I become a mum I will enjoy lonely trips to the shop to have a bit of break.

Hope everyone’s well x
