Ah honestly the arguments about food in this house over the years would drain you so we just said this year nobody is going around trying to shove a plate of fruit at them, they can just take themselves over and eat what they like and we are going to mind our own plates and ignore what is on theirs. Might even get a surprise and they may eat something healthy for once. Teens eh? The most stubborn years since they were toddlers and we ruined their lives giving them the wrong coloured plates!

Neverinamonthofsundays · 15/08/2023 08:03

I am actually here now wondering if I have everything ready for back to school now too... I am sure all I am waiting on is the exam papers from the stationary shop..... god it is never ending!

Happierwithouthim · 15/08/2023 08:08

Dd didn't fit into skirt my friend had so I'm going to be spending €62.95 on one Sad

Neverinamonthofsundays · 15/08/2023 08:43

The price of uniforms in Ireland is ridiculous. I know people thought I was mad sending mine to ET secondary but honestly it does not cost me half what a uniform would.

Happierwithouthim · 15/08/2023 09:25

I don't mind buying it if she'll wear it but I know well she'll be in her trousers that cost about €20 in Dunnes more often than not!! And anything else can be passed down to ds except obviously the skirt!! We're lucky except jumpers and the skirt everything else can be generic. And it saves competition and their clothes so I'm happy they've a uniform

Happierwithouthim · 15/08/2023 09:31

If you don't mind saying how much is all inclusive costing? I'm always interested when people say they're going all inclusive but have yet to do it

Neverinamonthofsundays · 15/08/2023 10:38

Its costing a little over 6k for 2 adults and 3 teens for 10 days all inc, flights, transfers and 4 cases. Never done it before either!

Happierwithouthim · 15/08/2023 13:47

That's very good.

I spent €3400 on flights and CAN$2000 on 16 days this year and had free accommodation and vehicle.

Yes but it is Turkey so was always going to be cheaper. I also have a dp that is much better with money than I and he sourced everything. I was fairly impressed as that includes a private transfer to and from the airport too.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 16/08/2023 08:43

I budgeted 200 for yesterday and went a bit over at 226euro :
90euro for shower screen to be installed
60 in homestore and more to buy a shower gem and new shower mats
25 in tesco on last min tshirts for kids
21 on beer and wine cos we needed a few bloody drinks
30 to the dog groomer

Today I need to get dog food for minder while away but thats about a tenner and collect my prescription so knowing Ireland about another tenner. Have breakfast/lunches/dinners sorted. Must check the diesel in the car.

Happierwithouthim · 16/08/2023 10:16

You went over by the alcohol/tshirts really, not so bad, I'm impressed with not spending a fortune in homestore and more!

I'm that person in my relationship because bf was on his own before he met me and is a good earner so he doesn't consider spends!

I've dunnes coming today and they're bringing dogfood and mince/veg, it's kind of a holiday type shop too, just got bits for if we go camping as well, got it over the €100 to take advantage of €20 off €100 spent. There's a tray of Pepsi Max and some cans of monster in it, my fridge was looking fairly bare.

I also plan on visiting chemist to pick up repeat prescription

€7.35 in local shop yesterday on milk/bread & a pack of Malteasers.

Timetoswitch · 16/08/2023 12:42

Spendy morning here:
£90 two pairs of school shoes (had a £20 voucher left from last year though)
£24 Tkmaxx. Birthday present for Dmum and some legging for DD2
£26 New Look. Jumper and two tops for DD1- she’s hard to buy for even when I just say pick what you want.
£9 H&M Top for DD2
£28 adidas- sale pair of trainers for PE and a t shirt for DD1

Still need trainers x2, but might go back on the Adidas site as they sent me a 15% off voucher. Both DDs also need new boots 🙁They’ve both gone up a whole shoe size.

Off to checks the stores under the bed to see what bargains bought previously may be lurking!

RumBananaSundae · 16/08/2023 18:38

Phew on the extension Life and enjoy your break.

I’m rediscovering eBay Big. Happy so far though I’ve only tried on the shoes I got I’ve not actually worn them yet.

Good approach Never. Have a fab time when you’re away.

Spending here has been ridiculous. I’ve entered I don’t care territory. Yesterday was no spend today was hotel, flights and trekking coats for next years holiday.

Had a message from him today about mediation. That’s winded me. Am utterly exhausted. And flakey friend is annoying me. Am considering a snack stroll. Not frugal but currently don’t care.

Happierwithouthim · 16/08/2023 21:57

€40.02 on six months pill, it's about €10 a month to buy it monthly.

€87.26 Dunnes grocery delivery

Rum is that to divide up property?

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 16/08/2023 22:12

I have tried to stop buying tat , that damn TEMU and Shein crap , l have avoided like the plague &
All the crap from Poundland and Aldi and LIdl middle aisles
Also stopped buying tgtg food bags too they haven't been very good at all here lately the Aldi one has been awful very disappointing only Greggs have been up to scratch and there's only so many caramel donuts you can eat until you get sick of them Grin
Morrisons £22
petrol £55 @ 137.9 on Sainsburys nearly 10 p cheaper than a lot of places
Dh passport £82.50
Hope everyone ok Smile

HalfWomanHalfChocolate · 17/08/2023 02:09

hello all! Where have you gone Life, I missed that?

The all-inclusive hols sound great, maybe I should check those options out - DS might manage a hotel nowadays. (Mind you, I am also very apprehensive about Mediterranean heat in august, as I am fair and fat 😂)

Still on holiday, still spending but not too much TBH. Most days we’ve done things that are free or included in NT /EH membership, and mostly picnics. So just the odd parking charge and ice creams. However, yesterday we did the North York Moors steam train, a beautiful route, for £100 for all of us and today we went to York. So park and ride, York minster entry, lunch in wagamamas (first time we’ve taken DS for not-a-pizza and he actually ate something!), wander round the city walls, ice cream parlour and a bookshop, where the kids chose a book each. The most expensive day of our holiday but they had a great time and I remembered how lovely York is. Oh, and they went on a carousel. Mind you, I asked DS what his favourite part was and he said ‘bus’… makes me wonder why I bother 😂😂

Beach tomorrow, so just parking and ice creams (DD has extracted a promise in advance). Forecast for Friday isn’t great so not sure what we’ll do then.

The building work is still a roller coaster. We’ve another unexpected massive cost to pay because we need to insulate under the big open plan kitchen-diner floor to satisfy building control. I think everyone assumed that there would already be insulation under the old floor (most of it is an extension c 20yo) so that was a nasty surprise. We were already maxed out on our budget so I’ve been super-stressed, but it’s been a good evening because poring over he spreadsheet I realised I’d double counted VAT somewhere and that more than covers the extra. Massive phew! I mean, it’s still extra cost and I am very pee’d off about how so much has been missed by the architect/ project planner/contractor, between then - all blaming the others - but at least we don’t have to take anything out of the plan.

Also annoyed as we’re moving back home in 2 weeks and the sliding doors won’t be on the back of the house for another week, I’m told (and with his optimism bias, I’d say 2-3 weeks). Sigh. It’s going to be chaos for the first month or so.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/08/2023 07:57

I love nymr. The trains can be seen from the farm I grew up on. Loved driving the tractor down to watch them.

We are in Amsterdam half. And spending a fortune.

Happierwithouthim · 17/08/2023 10:06

Half my children are NT and you'd get a response like that out of them too, what was the best bit of the holiday. We went to Canada this year and the first thing dc got excited about was the yellow school buses, my dbro says I'll bring ye to a parking lot where there are 100 of them and they were thrilled Grin

MrsMadEvans I haven't bought from TEMU at all, is it similar to Shein? I don't like shopping so in general I'm not in the shops so don't see stuff.

This weekend's camping got a bit cheaper I think because there's a yellow warning for rain tomorrow so I'd say we will only be going away for Sat night now instead thereby halving the cost!

Because it's expensive or because we're on hols & f*ck it??

Neverinamonthofsundays · 17/08/2023 10:25

It is am and fair to say I am buying wine on the way home from work. I finish up today and every single fucker in the office has pissed me off since I sat down an hour ago.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 17/08/2023 10:47

10am fucking numberlock

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/08/2023 12:52

Both happier

RumBananaSundae · 17/08/2023 14:57

Happier it’s dividing up everything.

Half sounds like you’re having a nice break. Sorry about the roller coaster building work. I hope it works out without much more stress and trauma.

Life are you visiting the van Gogh museum? I’m quite jealous. Hope you’re having a grand time and enjoying the cheese.

Never sorry about work. I feel like that surprisingly often.

Today’s spending has been £1.50 on some cling film. I’ll take a walk later so I might get some chocolate milk so a possible £1.09.

Have been looking at airport transfers for next year. I have a coupon but it doesn’t work until November (not sure why) so I’m deciding on if I’d rather have an unknown discount or just get it booked and paid.

Trying to distract myself after yesterday. Know I have to think about it at some point. He’s still an arse and I’m hoping I’ll reach the stage of it just not mattering anymore but that’s not now. And the confidence I had build seems be be vanishing.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/08/2023 16:19

Yes to van Gogh and cheese.

Do you want mediation? Do you have to have it?
Don't let him shatter what you have built rum. We got you and we believe in you x
