So I am thinking of using Vinted to list loads of clothes I have sorted out and I'm new to all of this can anyone give me some tips and explain how it works please?
Is is easy?
Do you have to get some packaging to send all of your items in or what do you use?
I'm a bit confused about the posting and packaging part.
Thanks 😊

Put as much details as you can on your description, including how it's fits and whether it is true to size.

Vinted will recommend small, medium or large parcel dependant on what you are selling. A Tshirt classes as a small, pair of shoes a medium off top of my head? I keep all my packaging when I order stuff online and use it for my Vinted sales, also home bargains type place sell Jiffy bags cheap enough.

Once you've sold an item, they will send you a postage label to attach to parcel and post either by dropping at a local parcel shop or Royal Mail. Majority of mine are through Evri so I drop them at my local petrol station where they have easy to use lockers. You won't get paid till the item has been received by the buyer.

gravyriceandchips · 23/01/2023 19:34

It's so much easier than eBay.

I've been listing things as slightly more than I want as I get loads of silly offers. Even for things dirt cheap.

I recommend over eBay.

gravyriceandchips · 23/01/2023 19:35

I get postal bags from the post office they are between 30 p and 80p depending on size. I posted things well wrapped in a carrier bag before with no complaints

TheRosesAreInBloom · 23/01/2023 19:37

As above and just keep and reuse the packaging other parcels are delivered in…ask neighbours to keep theirs if you don’t have much. I never buy packaging, a carrier bag turned inside out and taped up is perfectly fine too. I once had a parcel arrive from a Vinted seller in a stapled and taped up gift bag!!

PeonyRose80 · 23/01/2023 19:39

Amazon sell 50 postage bags for about £6 well worth it

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/01/2023 19:40

I really need to start selling stuff. Is it easy?

DealOrNoelsDeal · 23/01/2023 19:40

I had a carrier or bin bag and tape it up

BG2015 · 23/01/2023 19:46

I use old bags I've had deliveries in, padded envelopes and have even turned strong carrier bags inside out too.

It's a doddle selling stuff on Vinted.

user2391 · 23/01/2023 19:48

It's super easy. Branded items sell pretty fast. I just use a bag for life and parcel tape to parcel up - but we have loads of them!
You can select what postage options to allow in your profile-settings-postage so you can select the options that work for you, depending on which drop off points are convenient.
If you select Royal Mail the small parcel postage is about 70p more than vinted charges, so factor into your selling costs or don't allow this option.

tommika · 23/01/2023 19:56

Note that the small, medium and large specifics can vary per category.
If you go to the postage section while drafting an advert it will show some guideline recommendations, but it you click ‘see sizing and compensation details’ you are told the size & weight limits of each option

Generally the sizes are as per each carrier, which means you may or may not fit to the buyers chosen option if you’re at the limit of some
… and for weight I’ve found that most often small is 500gram, medium is 1kg and large is 2kg
Do beware of the Royal Mail options, as the buyers postage is paid to you and you buy the postage, whereas other carriers are paid to Vinted and they generate a label for you

For packaging I recycle most of the time, and also add a bin bag plus lots of tape. (I don’t want breakages or burst packages in transit)

Most parcels I receive are kept, then say Lidls boxes, boxes from friends shops etc
I also ‘invested’ in dedicated old up Royal Mail size large letter boxes. On eBay sales I have often made my own to keep things within Royal mail dimensions, but ‘proper’ boxes work much better
An Amazon ‘small’ card ‘envelope’ can be good but they sometimes bow and go over the large letter depth in the middle

Lidl vegetable boxes are good to cut to size but have quite some weight

The problem with boxes is when you’re at a weight limit you’re taking up precious weight, so I have cut up a few boxes to make them as small as possible

If you’re within the Vinted weight limit then I’ll put in as much packaging as possible

Once I’m happy that the item is safe I finish off with a black bag wrapped around, plenty tape then the label

As I put on a lot of tape I must at least think of the recipient, and make sure that they aren’t going to need to hack into the package and cut the contents. So I may have a heavily secure outside with the box/cardboard only basically stuck down. That way any hacking open is only the outter layer

Dinhop · 23/01/2023 20:00

Take a pic of the postage receipt and send it to the buyer, if for any reason the label doesn’t get scanned you won’t get paid!! Also vinted have zero customer service, it’s truly terrible

Hellibore · 23/01/2023 20:01

I stick clothes in plastic bags and tape up.

Courier has lost a parcel I sent and delivered something completely different to my buyer. I'm fuming and they don't seem interested

behappy1736 · 23/01/2023 20:15

Thank you!
Oh gosh I've listed some items and someone has bought them already! It says sold on my profile so what do I do now?!
Also it says once the item has been received I will be paid, isn't this a bit dodgy? What if they receive the item and don't pay?

BettySweaty · 23/01/2023 20:16

I've sold a load of stuff this past month, things the kids have grown out of and dp and I don't wear anyone. £280 in fact.

I've found that they have been fine on the odd occasion there was a bit of an issue.

I stopped using royal mail because the Vinted fee for the buyer was always underestimated, so I ended up out of pocket with the postage. I use the lockers and Evri only

Definatley so much easier than eBay.

BettySweaty · 23/01/2023 20:19

If you have sold an item pack it up to post out.

Vinted have the money for the item.

Once the buyer receives the item Vinted release the money so long as there's no issue.

amylou8 · 23/01/2023 20:21

They have paid, but vinted hold the money until they receive it and say they're happy. Not sure what happens if they're not happy!
All you need to do is parcel it up, print the label, stick it on, and drop it off with the courier they've chosen.

So check your messages they will have paid for postage either evri or locker.

If it's locker you pack it up and scan your code. The locker opens and you put it it. It's almost too easy.

If it's evri you print the label and attach to your parcel take it to the Tesco or wherever and they scan it and give you a receipt.

If you can't print your labels then you can find a shop that does.

Shout if you get stuck.

If you have many packed you will get a COMBI you the two. Wrote on the parcels who they are for so it's easier

gravyriceandchips · 23/01/2023 20:23

I only seal mine as I post if I have more than one

behappy1736 · 23/01/2023 20:24

Thank you.
How do I choose Evri locker or different postage options I don't see a choice with the items I've sold it just says Get shipping label and wants me to fill out this: pic attached

Sorry for being naive but I'm new to this and want to make sure it's secure and the buyer can't see the details it's asking me to fill out in the pic.

Vinted help please

OhmygodDont · 23/01/2023 20:32

That’s so they can confirm you as real for return post and banking to send your money etc.

ScreamALullabye · 23/01/2023 20:34

The buyer has picked the delivery option. Download the shipping label then you can either print it or print it off at the machine in the parcel shop. It should have instructions on what delivery option the buyer has chosen and where to take it

QueenMabs · 23/01/2023 20:46

Vinted is really easy.

Fill that in for payment.

Both in profile > order or in messages it will detail the shipping info.

I buy 50 a4 plastic envelopes from eBay and some documents enclosed sticky things for about £10 and it made it so much easier for me to quickly parcel up and sort a label out.

For evri you need a printer.

Post office is a bit a of a pain so I've turned it off. Postage option are in profile>setting.

Take lots of photos of every items.

I make about £200 a year.

Dinhop · 23/01/2023 20:47

they will give less than 0 attention to any problems. If it wasn’t so easy to list (and zero charges compared to eBay) I wouldn’t bother with vinted at all! When it goes wrong it goes WRONG 🥴🥴

cannotmakemymindup · 23/01/2023 20:50

I would say don't use inpost lockers though. Lots of people having issues including myself where parcels are mislabelled by the courier companies and delivering the wrong items. If you look on Facebook lots of groups set up to try to reunite everyone with their correct parcels.
